I have 4 LG OLED Tvs in my house : EC9300 curved from 2015, a B8 from 2018, a CX from 2020(21?) and just added a G4 last week. All of them have been excellent TVs.
Sound quality superior? Dude, I bought mine past November via Amazon MX, a 55". IT'S SOUND IS BULLSHIT compared to my 48 inch LG C2. that's the reason I'm returning it. Can you say something about this?
@laatinable C2 is not C4. Also you should calibrate always the speaker as Sony is asking you in the installation process. Without the calibration, it really sound not great. As always: speakers need time to sound great. Atleast 4-5 hours running time.
I originally went in the shop to buy the lg but when I compared both tv’s I went with the Sony Bravia 8 and it’s the first Sony I’ve had since the trinitron days (old enough to remember them lol), for me it’s amazing great picture, sound - take into account that you don’t want a lot of brightness during real life viewing as hurts my eyes so I turn it down well that’s just me, Sony core films is also good addition. I also stream my pc to it with no problems.
Just ordered my 65" C4 and i am sure that after spending last 7 years with 55" Phillips i will be very happy with my choice. I was also looking towards S90D (because i was able to verify that in my country 65" DAT model was QDOLED) but after reading through countless forums about lack/crap QA I decided to go with LG.
C4 over S90D here too, Australia. Woled is maybe slightly less colourful and bright than QD OLED, but honestly woled looks plenty colourful and bright for me! Difference is minor and only noticeable side by side. I actually don't use 100% brightness so don't get how more of it will help me. For sure, I wanted the LG as it has much less risk of burn in, better upscaling, and has DV, nicer design, and no Tizen OS
If you’re going to compare accurate modes for both, the Sony needs to be in Professional, not Cinema. Cinema has Contrast Enhancer and Live Color on by default.
All the Sony bashers are watching with the measurements not their eyes. Can’t speak to C4 but my Bravia 8 is a clear upgrade in clarity, colors, and motion over my C2.
Great comparison. Can you please leave a link in the description for the standing TV mount that is used in this comparison side by side. It’s a clean look 😊
It’s so interesting…there’s a lot of “LG is more accurate” but absolutely no objective measurement of it - and there are absolutely objective test with numeric results! Hint: Sony usually comes out on top when compared to actual reference targets. I don’t know if that’s true of the Bravia 8, and at the end of the day you can still think the LG looks better. To my eyes, LG professing and look is intentionally made to pop and catch the eye of a more casual viewer. Sony, being involved with so many parts of the content creation, technical specifications in software and hardware…it’s likely they know how to deliver the intended look.
LG C series are solid and have very good quality processing for older content viewing which upscales perfectly on their c4 models. Just wish their color science would be better improved and not have that oompa loompa skin tone look on certain scenes with darker skin tones people but other than that it is a fantastic tv.
My samsung qn90b neo qled had a white spot to pop up on the corner of the screen right after the warranty went out and now I am here trying to decide what to get next.
LG never again, my last LG Oled had a stripe on display after a litte more than 2 years and died after 3 years. I just bought a Bravia 8 and I am really exited, brillant picture and great sound, wonderful TV. And the best choice for PS5.
The gaming comparison is absolute bullshit, unless you’re running a high end PC. For an average gamer with a PS5 the LG’s 144hz, Dolby Vision gaming, and Gsync are all unsupported. If you happen to be an Xbox gamer, you’ll be able to use the Dolby Vision gaming mode (but you shouldn’t). Why bother awarding the category win to LG for features that most gamers can’t even use? The only meaningful thing you mentioned is the number of hdmi 2.1 ports.
Hi, great comparison. I hoped you would have mentioned it but apart from the image quality and the designs of the tv’s, apparently all LG’s OLED tv’s have an integrated power cable whereas with the Bravia 8 the cable is “unpluggable”, which might be handy for replacement. Or maybe it is not the case with UK models and it is only with European models.
@@mitbade2771not even close. I previously had a Sony A80K and now have a LG C4 and I wish I would’ve gone with the Bravia. LGs are fine, but the Sonys are far more refined.
I just had both these TV’s side by side and the depth on the B8 is mesmerizing. The Sony was no question the better looking tv and I’m not a Sony fan. The Bravia 8 is just gorgeous. I wouldn’t even consider the LG unless it was the G series. The G series blows away the C series. If I had to choose between the B8 and the C4 it’s definitely gonna be the B8
Bravia 8 has superior brightness in both SDR & HDR, mildly better image processing and a glossy panel whereas A80L is semi-gloss. However it's missing certain settings which may be important to some and has flawed HDR performance (see the HDTVTest review). If you're a videophile or enthusiast go A80L. If you want the benefits of the Bravia 8 and don't care so much about the cons mentioned then Bravia 8 I guess.

After having looked at the Bravia 8 my conclusion is that it is a quite severely disabled Sony oled tv, look at HDTV RUclips channel test of this TV. He has pretty much said that there is a strong chance that the tv is not using the full XR processor chip. And this is born out by what I saw. The Bravia 8 has quite poor out of the box colours. As for brightness the Bravia 8 has some serious issues here also. I feel you have to turn up the brightness to max but the the tv does not track the PQ EOTF curve and content is too dark, especially in shadows. Indeed if I was in the market for an oled at this price I would go for the Sony A80L which does not suffer front these issues whilst also being bright enough for most rooms. The LG C4 which I have also owned but returned does not do a good job up scaling SD content and the processing in general is not on the same level as the Sony A80L. I have also tried the Samsung S90D and that would have been a keeper except it really struggles with low quality dark scene content where it has really bad macro blocking and posterisation.
