Rita Marley - one of the most powerful women reggae!!! In fact, THE QUEEN of THE KING!!! It’s interesting that I would see Bob’s image being the thumbnail of this track, but then again, it’s only RIGHT. In this song, Rita is literally crying out for the Love and Attention of her husband, who, and most know, and by her own admission, likes to PLAY. Sounds like she is with child, and without his attention she looks to the Love of The Most High to keep her carrying on... A POWERFUL piece of HISTORY is in this song. LONG LIVES RITA MARLEY.
Listening to these lyrics, your interpretation is totally understandable. However, according to Bunny Wailer in “Bob Marley and the Wailers: The Definitive Discography” this song, like many of the Soulettes songs, was written by Bob Marley. In this case, Rita is not accompanied by the rest of the Soulettes, but accompanied by Peter and Bob. The bottom line is we do not know what Bob was alluding to in these lyrics. We can, however, enjoy the great lead by Rita and the fine harmonies by Peter and Bob.
Listened to this about 15 years ago with 13 or so. I Still prefer those old tunes. Of course also the more famous tracks, but this is so unic! Love those Trumps 😊
