    My first and only MLB game I've ever went to. My girlfriend and I were just taking our seats we got to the game late, I hadn't even sat down when Jose Canseco smashes this ball in our Direction , the ball was perfectly in line with me getting bigger in my eyesight but then it kept climbing in went above my head onto the top deck . I'll never forget that!

    If I remember correctly the estimated distance on this was around 540 ft. Then a team of physicists did some actual studies on the 500 ft home run and wrote a paper on it. They got schematics of the ball parks and figure out exactly where the ball landed as well as the angle that it left the bat and such and this particular home run went 445. The one that Mark McGwire hit was estimated around 538 and the actual distance was 483. They were absolutely horrendous at estimating home run distances back then haha

    I was a Jays fan watching this live. It felt like facing a team full of superheroes. Rickey Henderson, Canseco, McGwire.
    All filled to the brim with 'roids. Sheesh!
    With Eckersley out of the bullpen... They were unbeatable.
    We had to wait until 1992 when that Alomar home run vs Eckersley changed everything for the Jays.

  •  4 года назад

    I saw this MONSTER home run live. Saturday July 15, 1989. I was attending Fresno State University. it was almost my senior year and I went to Collectors Paradise card shop, still owned by Mike Rickard to this day, they were back then on East Shields Ave corner to North Cedar Ave. to check out his shop. The Saturday game of the week was on KSEE Channel 24, NBC. It was just a magical year for José Canseco, Mark McGwire and the entire Oakland Athletics! 1989 MLB Champs!

      Yeah, always wanted that card as a kid. As an adult I bought a few too many I'd say lol. It's still fun to keep adding to the collection even though they'll never be a great investment. Doesn't matter how much steroids you take, it still won't give you the hand eye co-ordination to hit the baseball.

    • @beardown555
      @beardown555 7 лет назад +2

      Sure, but what if you're already a super elite uber athlete with all the physical gifts, including exceptional eye/hand co-ordination, and then you take steroids? Will that make a difference then? Maybe even a little?

    • @webslinger48
      @webslinger48 7 лет назад +6

      Actually, many theorize that steroids in fact improved Barry Bonds eyesight during his ridiculous run so theoretically it is possible considering your eyeball is surrounded by muscles and they control its movement.

    • @jollu1
      @jollu1 7 лет назад +4

      webslinger48 even if that is true, having better eyesight doesn't mean you have better hand eye coordination

    • @1981lashlarue
      @1981lashlarue 6 лет назад +5

      No kidding. Of course you need hand-eye coordination to the hit the ball. They're in the majors for a reason. If you believe that they are taking steroids as the risk of physical deterioration and drastic side effects for no gain then you are willfully ignorant or fooling yourself. No, it doesn't give you hand-eye coordination. No one ever said it did. However, it will make you run faster and make the ball go farther when you do hit it and make contact. Why else would these track stars and baseball players take it amidst all the risks-- legal, physical and otherwise?

The strangest thing,ball kept climbing and climbing, I see myself now looking back into the field of play wondering how the heck the ball went so far. Well, we were pretty accurate with our chant.
