STOP
wow he just kept going with that worst-case-scenario, of not going to college and living in a van by the river and selling drugs all because of an LEQ
thats the best case scenario of getting below a 5 on an AP test wdym
it could happen
Or you begin your own start-up in a field you're passionate about instead of giving into the status quo and make more money than you would have graduating from college.
That's pretty much the feeling lol
Ok then PURRR I’m here for this energy
My AP teachers have both told us that you can write literally anything but as long as you answer the question, you will get the points. You could draft an argument about why the final season of Family Guy should’ve been season 4, but as long as you mention “oh and also this” and give them the answer, you get the points. You cannot lose points, you can only gain them
apush test tomorrow. thanks for this
Me to. God bless and May He give us clarity.
“You can’t loose points, you can only gain them” bro I needed this
This happens to me all the time. I forgot how to spell the word "door" once due to this. It's kinda a panicky feeling so I get what you went through in that stream. But live!? That's crazy. Also, are you planning any livestreams soon for AP world?
idk if this is true but my friend told me next thursday
May 9,10, and 11
Yep
"dorr"
"seems right" 👍
this actually happened to me once
@@heimlershistory mines tomorrow!!
I had an LEQ in class today that I knew barely anything about at first, but I started writing anyways and by the end I was proud of my essay and I was able to scrounge up some specific examples and analysis relevant to the prompt!
Heck yes 🙌🏻… that’s amazing!
my AP exam is in 1 hour. Wish me luck guys
yeahh you got this!!
Lmk what the Leq prompts are please bro 🙏
Just finished my APUSH exam, I ended up spelling or as “ore” on my LEQ and was confused why that didn’t look right
Im so cooked bruh
Thank you Heimler, This will surely help me with my APWH test.
Btw in case it makes you feel better, the APWH test is easy

literally just took this 3 hours ago and had no idea what to write. i just started slapping shit down. i got the dbq and the multiple choice so i think we chilling
dbq was so hard i was so confused what it was asking
@@tangos89 I kinda failed multiple choice but I did good for Leq and dbqs
I remember my APEURO teacher gave us a list of dates to remember for context, like Martin Luther's 95 theses, Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Prague Spring, etc. He told us even if you don't remember anything, at least try to connect those dates to what we have to write about.
Was that a good tactic
Did you do well on the ap exam
@@potatoavocado9933 I got a 5 lmao. mad ez
our teacher had us do that too. i slept through the whole year and then just memorized those dates, i think there were 48, and i got a 5
Hey Heimler! I just wanted to thank you INFINITELY for all of the work you do for us APUSH students! Im not kidding you, my teacher uses you in his curriculum and suggests you ALL THE TIME! We even have class inside jokes about your videos- thank you for everything you do for our comminity and all of the help youve given AP students like me to combat the fears of the final and the class! God bless!
It’s so interesting to look back at AP classes as a college student and think “wow…and I thought THAT was hard?”
thank you for giving zero hope for my college years
...you're not helping XD
so far the ap classes have been wildly easy
I'm only in my first semester of college, but after taking this us history to reconstruction class i realized that apush was way harder, in apush you have to go over double or even triple the amount of information that we go over in my current class.
Literally happened to me during the APUSH exam this year on the LEQ. I managed to come up with a passable essay but without what I learned here things could've been so much worse, so thanks for helping me out Heimler!
I’m binging these the day before before my ap exam.
It is amazing the parallels and our training methods. Great work.
I just did a practice LEQ today and this video definitely came at the right time lol. I had no idea what was happening with the time period assigned
As a longtime teacher, I’m in awe of your work! In addition to the obvious breadth of your knowledge and your passion for your content, the honesty of this particular video makes you such a gift to the kids. Keep on keepin’ on!
POV u still don’t know the difference between populists and progressives
LMFAO YES
the populists which came earlier were mostly about benefiting the lower-class worker and their Omaha platform included things like better election of senators and I think unlimited silver coinage as well
unsurprisingly they did not like union busters such as the pinkertons
the populists were composed of many different ideologies, arguably not all of them compatible w each other
the progressives were generally more broad than the populists in that they generally seeked to address American issues of economic equality and political corruption, among others
Yeah I needed this yesterday... My LEQ was horrendous
thank you so much! not only is this a really helpful strategy but it’s very calming and reassuring :)
This was very helpful, thank you Heimler! My class loves you!
I got a 5 on mine some 10 years ago and went on to get a history BA, and honestly I would struggle to answer some of these long form questions off the top of my head. It's all about playing your strengths. A broad general knowledge will get you through the multiple choice, but you need some degree of depth for the long form questions. I remember that for euro you have an option, and often you are doing early modern history (~1400-1700) or straight up modern history (1700-1990). So instead of cramming both "chunks," I ended up playing to my strengths in modern history. I can mostly get through multiple choice on the Reformation, yes, but I knew I would likely get to choose between early modern and modern on my long form questions. That was ultimately my strategy going in, and it squeaked out a 5 for me.
helppppp so like idk crap about apush like i know SO LITTLE im so bad when it comes to history what do i do . like idk how to study for this test and the test is next week
@@estherajofoyinbo9563 kinda cutting it close, but I understand your struggle. I can't really transmit all of the content to your brain, but since American history is relatively short, I would start at 1776 (or the colonial period after the 7 years war) and just count up by decade. Know a key event and person for each decade. You should come out with about 20 decades and you can fill in as much as you like for social, economics, political/legal, and technology/information.
@@estherajofoyinbo9563 Also, I have noticed that at least a few questions have been dealing with Native peoples, so pick one or two and get a rough idea of how they factor into stuff. Cherokee, Seminole/Creek, Sioux, are some big ones. They often have entire conflicts or landmark SCOTUS cases surrounding their history.
Thank you for your honesty. Thank you for giving students a breath of fresh air where they can recover their composure and begin to recover from brain freeze. You are truly a great communicator and teacher.
This is so helpful!! Thank you so much.
i got a 5 on the AP World exam because of this video alone. It saved my LEQ. THANK YOU HEIMLER ‼️‼️
I have this same problem for SAQs, which I have been practicing a bit. Even though the prompt seems straightforward, my mind panics and sometimes blanks out. Do I use this same logic Mr. Heimler provided in this video? Thanks
yeah i need this
i got two LEQs to choose from during a full practice exam (it was an older exam, so fewer options). one was about…i don't even know. it was either just before or just after the civil war. the 1800s are NOT my strong suit. the other was on the vietnam war, and i definitely know more about that than the 1800s.
my advice: try and pick the one you feel most comfortable and familiar with, even if it's not by much. at least then you'll have to conjure SOME thought to even make that decision, and there's your starting point. :)
Maybe I misinterpreted but this year I believe will also be two choices
This didn't happen on an exam but for a unit test and it was mainly because I did minimal preparation for the leq portion. Ended up with a 4/7 which isn't great but still loooaaads better than what i expected
it's 11 pm. it's tech week for the school musical so i've had seven hours of rehearsal after school each day. i have an leq tomorrow, first period, and my teacher won't tell us what the time periods are. i've made the decision to not study the entirety of world history because i won't remember any of it and instead i'm just watching this. thanks, heimler. hopefully this goes well.
OMG this video helped me so much in my test 3 days ago (on an SAQ). (Shows how little I knew about the topic :( )
Thanks, Heimler!
Your videos helped me tremendously to study for my apwh exam. Have you thought about expanding your platform to maybe podcasts for on the go studying?
Hi Mr. Heimler, can you make videos where you practice Multiple Choice, SAQ, and the Essays for AP World. It would be helpful and I would appreciate it so much.
Exactly how my teacher Mr. Gray loves to tell us. Really great advice this is.
This happened to me on the AP world LEQ last year! I definitely got no points on it, but still got a 4 on the test so I was chillin!

This literally happened to me during an SAQ unit exam in class. I didn’t know anything that could help me so I just wrote whatever made sense. Literally anything that was in the time period and related to the question. Somehow I passed that SAQ and I don’t even know how. Like literally the answers made no sense
Exam is is about 2 hours but we ready
I took the AP US history test just a few days ago and Im so happy that I didnt need to freak out over it. And anyone who is worried about it, I promise you that if you just put your mind to the paper you will write an amazing essay.
i had to take an abridged AP Euro exam due to COVID but I knew just enough about Napoleon to score a 5. But I loved that class and was really good at it so I believe I could've gotten a 5 on the full exam too
Chat am I cooked?
nope 💀💀
yeah i am
Yes.
I believe this tip is related to when you forget the name of someone or something, it helps a heck of lot to stop thinking about it for a few hours and then come back to it again, and more often than not, you’ll remember. I don’t know how the psychology behind it works, but I know it works for me! I’m really bad at remembering names, and it helps when I stop thinking about it for a bit and come back to it later! It must have something to do with flooding your brain with _irrelevant_ information first 🤔
GOOD LUCK GUYS. ready to go get my 1 :D
Test this year wasn’t too bad, the leq’s were still tough as ever tho
"just start writing." Patting myself on the back because that's what I always do. It really does help 😌
Last year this happened to me with the DBQ on APWH I remembered absolutely nothing abt the Mexican civil war or something so I just made stuff up based on the documents lmao
Literally perfect timing. Had a bad dream last night that I was taking my exam and didn't know how to write an LEQ. Thanks:)
When all else fails... Use the printing press.... The printing press kinda... leads to everything if you link it well enough....
Thanks for another video hiemler I’m going to hope for a minimum 4 but a goal of 5 on ap world!
This could have helped me with my LEQ
Thank you
Hey Heimler, when are Unit 2 and 3 of your AP Euro Review Packet multiple choice questions coming out? Thanks man, you're a great help!!
Working on it right now! Unit 3 today, and Unit 2 (fingers crossed) tomorrow
I graduated high school almost 3 years ago but am watching this purely because this happened too many times and I always wished I knew what to do 🥲 good luck on AP exams friends and thank you for saving me on Gov in 2019 Steve
Dang I needed this like 9 hours ago 😭😭😭 just came up on my recommended
Hello, I still have a question about the multiple choice for APWH. Can you review how to answer the multiple choice again because I am worried that during the test ima just be stuck on it and not get through all of the questions with the 50 minutes I have
I just took my AP Test on World today and couldn't write anything! Now I come across this video!😬
0:20 When he said "strategy I'm" I thought he said stratagem like from Helldivers 2 lmao, had to check the date to be like "wait when did this come out?" lol
can you do one on how to survive not knowing anything on a dbq?
People say you do better the less you know on the dbq because you can actually analyze the documents lol
Hi! Could I still buy the ultimate review packet before the exam on May 6, or would I not have enough time to complete it effectively?
Here's my advice: don't load up on non-STEM AP courses if you want to go into STEM or vice versa, since they'll likely fill in requirements for classes you could've easily taken to get an easy A. Better to settle for a STEM heavy AP load so that you're past the basic/obvious stuff in your subject area while you cruise by in your gen Ed's, without having to even think about what an LEQ is.
AP's are valuable if they're utilized properly. Waste of time if not otherwise. Keep in mind I got into a top engineering school in 2021 despite taking a non-Honors history course junior and senior year.
this could be useful but also, if you’re majoring in STEM, colleges might not accept all your STEM AP credits because they want you to take some of the more advanced class at their school. that’s my experience at least! i’m glad i took some history APs so i’ll be able to focus more on my science classes in college
Really needed to hear this from someone else, thank you.
Dang... I'm probably going into STEM but I absolutely love history because AP has actually made it so interesting. I was just thinking about how I wanted to load up on more history AP classes my senior year.
What is the difference though I was waiting for that part
NEEDED THIS BEFORE THIS MORNING 😭😭😭✋🏾
i really could’ve used this for the apush this year 🙁🙁
Me watching this after the APUSH exam:🗿
I just had the exam yesterday and when I tell you I wrote a whole page on the Mongols and I doubt it was right...I ended up squeezing out any information I remembered on them from my brain and just turned it in LMAOOO. I def think I'll get some points, but Im glad it's not worth too much.
I’m about to take AP World and literally when in doubt, Mongols. AP World students are probably the Mongol’s #1 fans haha
I wish I saw this 3 days ago when I took my AP Euro exam and I was stuck on the LEQ

Hey there Heimler! I’m struggling with sourcing documents on the dbq. Is there a video you have that can help?
Do you mean citing the documents? If so this is how it should look. “In a letter Robert e lee sent to his friend he detailed why he would be fighting for the south(Doc. 4).”
Hope this helps!
saw this a little too late; took my ap euro exam this morning 😭
SAMEEE. My LEQ was absolutely terrible lol
I love you, I wrote one sentence and that transformed into 2 pages of content!
i fullt relate and it sucks that i got put in apwh cause i love the class and info but am horrible at tests (seminars i am shockingly good at). every time i get to a "whats the best answer " i just scream TWO OF THESE WORK I WILL WRITE A WHOLE SEMINAR PROVING THE INCORRECT ONE IS CORRECT in my head. why do they do this to 16 year olds i thought i was smart and apwh is punching me for it

Hi Hemlier I really need help! I’m currently in AP World and i’ve been studying a ton. I started reviewing over the summer and have been chipping away since then. Unfortunately, I’m still doing terrible on practice tests (most recently I got a 31/55 😬). At one point my score went up 38 but it’s dropped back down after that. I’ve been getting around the same score since before I started vigorously studying so i’m really not sure what to do. Am I just a terrible sturdier and doomed to doing bad?? Thank you for doing what you do and i’m a huge fan!
take a break
That’s still passing I’m pretty sure.
I ended up never answering six of the multiple choice questions. Ran out of time because head empty, no thoughts. Don’t worry about the multiple choice that much. Obviously, take it seriously, but realize you can get a good score without being phenomenal on the MCQ section.
In terms of studying, it might not be the actually knowledge you have that is the problem. Underline key points of the stimulus provided. I recommend looking up videos on how to take the test, not the material itself, learn how to eliminate obviously wrong answers and at the very least have a 50/50 shot on the question(tip: cross out the letter of the obviously wrong answers for better focus). If you still don’t understand, circle it, put in a letter, and move on (I believe you get penalized the same for not answering and answering wrong, better to take a chance and potentially get a point!) Don’t waste time on a problem you’re stuck on, thats how I missed so many. Come back to it if you have the time, and don’t stress out about it after the section is over.
Either way, you got this! Sounds like you’ve been working hard, and I believe you’ll get a good score. Remember, you know more than you think!
that should earn you at least a three tho! plus you have all the other sections you can get points on too. No worries!
Your 31/55 is still better than my scores lol! I struggle mostly with the multiple choice as well, and I have no idea why. I've been told multiple choices are the easiest, and I usually crush multiple choice tests and exams. My guess is that I just lack some general knowledge and/or overthink a lot of questions, because that seems to be the problem with most of the questions. That and the time crunch problem.
this happened to me this year
