  • One of my beloved Apple HomePods recently died, so I did some research on how to repair it and had a go myself. Grateful acknowledgement to Nic's Fix on RUclips for his informative video that gave me the confidence to do it.

Thanks for the excellent guide! Managed to replace the diode on mine by some miracle!
I don't have a good hot air blaster and ended up breaking the top off the diode, at least was able to apply some solder to the whole pad then to get it off, the whole board was heating up must have a good ground plane!

Nicely done. I would have looked for a used replacement.

    Well done :-D
Its a bit of a finger twister to get it all back in there.
I'm guessing the odd diode is part of a tiny boost power supply.
Something like that or maybe not lol.

One of my HomePod-minis died recently. It's completely dead, doesn't respond even through USB. Is it diode most likely cause for a mini too?

Possibly, but I have no experience with repairing those I'm afraid.
