The only number one Hawkwind ever had....in the cavern to see the beatles.....roady for hendrix...then brought hell to earth with motorhead....what a life this guy had.
Walks out in white shoes looking like a million bucks and proceeds to make everybody else look downright silly. That’s how rock and roll is supposed to be done, ladies and gentlemen. Take note.
You gotta remember that Motorhead was the shit in England at this time and the way letterman introduced them was kinda disrespectful of Lemmy and Lemmy doesn't like that shit
Rock And Roll will never die. Neither will Lemmy. No worries...it just *can't* happen. Lemmy is the once in a generation, definition of a "rock star." RIP...you are missed, sir🙏
Paul Schaffer's AWESOME dudes!! He's also a pretty well accepted blues player, he was in the Blues Brothers 2000 movie in the big blues band at the end with clapton / BB King / Jimmie V / the skunk / etc
They did the Tonight show too? Never got to see those I remember watching this one though and I remember E.V.H. was gonna be on but I somehow wound up missing it. I remember the Allman Brothers Band on the tonight show though it was bad ass.
Wish Motorhead/Lemmy had done an album of rock'n'roll covers in this style - I'd have bought it!!! As he always said, they were rock'n'roll not heavy metal!
No other band in the history of rock and roll is owed more than Motorhead, and no man more respected than Lemmy Kilmister. Learn up and have some respect.
Most English hard rock and roll guys at least in the early days were all influenced by African American blues and R & B from the rolling stones to Led Zeppelin and everyone in between
I see what you mean, but Paul Sheaffer kicked ass, and at least it exposed them to people who needed to hear them but didn't know it! One of the only bands who could capture the intensity of the original, if not more so.
You kinda missed the title of the song, its not Johnny B. good. Its "Let it rock" they sound exactly the same but the lyrics are different :) Anyways, Motorhead rocks \,,/ Thx for posting!
MOTORHEAD KICKS ALL ASS. I've watched this vid a million times...but it ain't Johnny B. Goode, folks. It's "Let It Rock" by Chuck Berry. Letterman says it in the intro.
The only number one Hawkwind ever had....in the cavern to see the beatles.....roady for hendrix...then brought hell to earth with motorhead....what a life this guy had.

Lemmy and Chuck R.I.P.!! miss you both!!!!
Rock In Peace!!
The look Lemmy gives when he first comes out LOL.
Yeah if looks could kill hey Padraig.
i agree,it was sweeeet
I thought he was going to say something :0D
Yeah Dave were here!🤣
You gotta remember that Motorhead was the shit in England at this time and the way letterman introduced them was kinda disrespectful of Lemmy and Lemmy doesn't like that shit
We need to see more hard rock/heavy metal bands on national television programs.
I like the look Lemmy gives Paul. He's really into it and you can tell Lemmy loves that.
I love how the band joins in, that's entertainment! Paul pulls out a gem!
Canada's finest!
wow, Paul Schafer ROCKING IT OUT with Motorhead! That's awesome. I have new respect for that dude.
Paul Schaeffer ain't no punk. That boy has played with a long list heavy hitters. He's a handsome little devil too.
Paul has played with many people we never would of thought of
Paul is an absolute genius
The best , a monster, especially when he's let loose off his dave chain to run with the pack , wahooooooooo!
... you'll see where Paul got some of his inspiration if you search YT for Jerry Lee Lewis & Little Richard!!
Bass AND rhythmbass can't fail😎
Ass kickin performance! Paul Shaffer banging those Keys!
I miss Lemmy and those days in the 90's.
Paul can play ANYTHING but he is really in his element when it's old rock n' roll.
An accomplished and consummate as well as under rated Musician to be sure.
He should have got them a deal with Polymer Records
@@ChrisHopkinsBass I got what you did there! LOL
The look Lemmy gives him as he walks on..."you know nothing you prick".
Rock And Roll will never die. Neither will Lemmy. No worries...it just *can't* happen. Lemmy is the once in a generation, definition of a "rock star." RIP...you are missed, sir🙏
Lemmy loved this fuckin old school Rock‘n‘Roll so much...watch him - he‘s in paradise 🤪🤟💋
Nothing cooler than real OG rock n' Roll
Rock N' Roll at its greatest!
Lemmy is the king of Bass Guitar, awesome
Lemmy, isn't playing that groovy bass line in this song, he is only playing single notes.
He plays it really bad here.
@@gregbutcher_musicplacecheck12 But not for real. The track is recorded.
No.
The crowd and Letterman had no idea what just hit them!
Juan Martinez no shit. What a treat to have been there
This is great. Great song. Great performance!
Paul Schaffer's AWESOME dudes!! He's also a pretty well accepted blues player, he was in the Blues Brothers 2000 movie in the big blues band at the end with clapton / BB King / Jimmie V / the skunk / etc
Best song ever. Sid MGinnis kills it on lead, and Lemmy's sideman is not too shabby either.
John Powers both those cats can Shred it
The pianist is Paul Schaffer. He's been the head of the Late Night band for years and often sits in with guest bands on the show.
Lemmy always sing like this, it makes his voice that way
He's the Howling Wolf of rock n roll 😎
Saw Head twice in Frisco during the '80s. So blessed.
It's easy to forget that Paul is an absolute BEAST of a musician. The whole Letterman band are, actually...
As Lemmy often says when playing live........."we are Motorhead we play proper rock and fuckin roll "
I think that says it all ...ermmm ...it does ..
Lemmy always had excellent taste in rock n roll. but who knew Paul could kill on piano like that?
Me
Everyone except you.
Cooking version of Chuck’s all time classic… not heard Motörhead play this before… top cover!
Top 2 hardest times the tonite show band rocked out that hard was with Motorhead and the Eddie Van Halen. And damn Paul is a phenomenal player.
They did the Tonight show too? Never got to see those I remember watching this one though and I remember E.V.H. was gonna be on but I somehow wound up missing it. I remember the Allman Brothers Band on the tonight show though it was bad ass.
Beastie Boys, Sabotage!
Christ, Lemmy looks so young! And his hairstyle... xD Awesome song, reminds me of 60'.
“Why don’t you listen to something really classical, like Mozart, Mendelssohn, or Motörhead?”
a dwarf-er i see!
What are you talking about!
Saw this when it aired. glad I can watch it again.
Lemmy and motorhead live on. Long live the memory of lemmy kilmister and motorhead.
" I don't know where England even is but apparently here is a band from there!" -- David Letterman
Lemmy on Rhythm Rickenbacker Bass with that Jerry Lee style piano I love it!
And on the keyboard - "Hi, Artie Fuffkin, polymer records...."
LOL…I love how Lemmy plays “rhythm bas”.
I guess that's Will Lee in the background playing primary bass?
Good to see Lemmy and Motorhead again ..Paul and the band were great as always.
Beautiful!!
Have to say that the combination of Lemmy’s “rhythm bass” with the more conventional rock and roll walking bass is killer!
Great Band! Great Song!
Rock n' bones, warts and all; no filter.
Lem sounds great here. I can’t believe I’ve never watched this before!
Lemmy knows he's playing bass right? Enjoy watching him play
Of course he knows, he's not stupid.
well he was originally a guitar player when he started with the Rockin' Vicars
Haha but the bass player behind him is actually playing the bass riffs. Lemmy can only hit one notes when singing
I was waiting for them two old geezers in the Muppets to look over from the balcony and say "I can't here myself think" lol
Yeah they not half bad. No they are all bad
*hear
That's awesome dude!!!
This is the best Rock`n`Roll Band for ROCKER MC´s!!! ROCKER-GREETZ!!! Reiner
Wish Motorhead/Lemmy had done an album of rock'n'roll covers in this style - I'd have bought it!!! As he always said, they were rock'n'roll not heavy metal!
Lemmy loved 50s RocknRoll. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, Fats Domino, Elvis..
Listen to headcat.
@@LucasAlves-dx7fh I have their albums and I love 'em, but I want a Motorhead style - harder.
@@LucasAlves-dx7fh Headcat was cool)
Would love to have been a fly on the wall when the floor manager told Lemmy to take off his Iron Cross
Good thing he missed his earring.
Looks like they're all having a blast
What a nice looking man.
Loudest band I've ever seen, R.I.P. Lemmy.
They come out FULL GAS no other way!!!
Stage guitarist absolutely fucking rocked on that solo lmao
Someone hire him.
SPLENDIFOROUS
🎧🎸🔉🔊 😎🤘🤘
this is great.
Paul Shaffer never rocked so hard
Paul absolutely anihilating those ivory's!!
I saw this when it first came out, and you can see that Lemmy was pissed off at Dave when he walked out to perform the song.
I love hearing Lemmy with a bass player.
Ha ha! Really? i am surprised that Lemmy put up with Will lee backing him up on bass. weird
@@Fretless99 He kinda plays bass like a tuned down rhythm guitar.
I Find it funny how they have 2 bass players. One to actually play bass and Lemmy to just play chords on his bass.
Max Flans mmmm that’s because a Lemmy plays his bass like a guitar which is awesome!
No other band in the history of rock and roll is owed more than Motorhead, and no man more respected than Lemmy Kilmister. Learn up and have some respect.
Bands from The Beatles to Motorhead.... Chuck Berry influence.
Most English hard rock and roll guys at least in the early days were all influenced by African American blues and R & B from the rolling stones to Led Zeppelin and everyone in between
Ferocious
I see what you mean, but Paul Sheaffer kicked ass, and at least it exposed them to people who needed to hear them but didn't know it!
One of the only bands who could capture the intensity of the original, if not more so.
They let it rock!
love this song!!!
Anfangs dachte ich, Motörhead wäre eine Heavy-Metal-Band, es ist aber eine Rock´n Roll Band.
Eu... adoro... Motorhead
How fucking cool is that? AWESOME!
Now that's how you play it...loud
That’s Entertainment!🔥❤️
I’ll never let my Motörhead die!!! Lemmy lives!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Superb
Absolutely love Motorhead!!!
But Paul Shaffer kicks ass!!!
lemmy was rock n roll to the bone
Yeahs!That Lemmy for sure...It`s rock`s like a hell...

@whocareswho:
wise guy,
thanks for confirming officially Letterman's introduction
Thats how i like my rock n roll
Nailed it!
We are Motörhead and we play Rock'n'Roll 😄
😍 Tinja&Markku
Lemmy slamming full chords on his 4 string bass
You kinda missed the title of the song, its not Johnny B. good. Its "Let it rock" they sound exactly the same but the lyrics are different :) Anyways, Motorhead rocks \,,/ Thx for posting!
And Johnny B. Goode has the unique chorus not heard in this one.
Paul Schafer is a monster on the pearly whites
Lemmy playing rock and roll..All is good.
The other bassist is doing the walking bass notes.Brit rock at its best!
Go the boyz!
And that, children, is what we call rock n roll. Lemmy was the real deal.
Lemmy! Wearing his Cross or Iron earring!!! Yea!!!!
Lemmy just kill'n it.
Missing you Lenny
