Fed up with labour problems in his vegetarian eatery of 35 years, Krishnappa Gowda closed doors 10 years ago to open a shop selling fried chicken, cooked by him to a secret recipe influenced by his Mandya roots. Such is the tantalising taste of this chicken kebab, that its fans drive across the city to stand and eat at this eatery located in a nook of Mysore road! An astute entrepreneur, and mindful of the popularity of his spice mix, Gowda has also developed packaged versions of the masala for those who would like to satisfy their fried chicken cravings at home. I make the trek to GFC and return convinced that this is perhaps the best local fried chicken I have tasted to date. Hope you enjoy this episode, take care and stay safe.
Gowda’s Fried Chicken
Tender chicken, marinated for six hours in an aromatic, secret spice mix, Gowda’s Fried Chicken is the sort that is tantalisingly tasty. The masala serves to coat the kebab with a delicately spiced crust and seal its juicy bite; the chicken is cooked perfectly down to the bone. This is the sort of kebab that needs no accompaniment in the form of a chutney or onions.

A tasty kebab in itself, slightly spicier when compared to the GFC. The masala has formed a bit of a thick crust in parts as the chicken is fried, which lends a spicy kick. And then there are those parts where it is the juiciness of the bird that gushes through the palate.

Mutton Biryani
The biryani here, made of basmati and kollam rice is served in a sumptuous portion, and is rich in the flavour of the masala when hot. Some pieces of the meat are soft and slide off the bone, and ribboned in rich fat, yet others with a bit of bite. As the biryani cools down, the savoury fat-laden flavour of the meat takes over.

These guys were covered extensively on Zee Kannada. Chandus, Chandrappa, Rajanna, Chandru Nimmane Hotel are the best places for a good hearty, robust, earthy, Old Mysore meal.

After watching your video had been to the place with my friend today.
Ordered 1 mutton Biryani and half kg chicken kabab- everything cost around 400rs and it was best kabab had in my life. Also the person who has Gym body who is also there in this video wearing gold chain gave us food and he did not take money in start. After finishing our food we paid money, he could not see us , well he has trust in is customers. ❤️ Anyways best Kabab ever had.

GFC was one of my favorite hotel since college days. This Uncle is great and Kind Person. One day I was having Kushka and kabeb, I finished kebab early since it's too tasty, then he saw and offered me few more pieces.

He's a well known figure among the kannadigas because of his appearances in cooking shows. That's what he mentioned at the beginning - Hi! I'm GFC Krishnappa of the zee kannada Oggarane dabbi (name of the cooking show) fame. Kripal did not catch that. So, I doubt that the crowds would be much more than usual.

Krishnappa is honest and humble man i have ever seen
I went yesterday nd tasted Chicken 65 and Chicken Kabab, both were awesome nd chicken was very very fresh. I talked with the owner nd told that i saw the video of Boda uncle ( Kripal) who came last week. He was very happy nd allowed me inside the kitchen preparation. First time I went to a non veg kitchen hotel in my life.
The owner was very happy about the video nd he told last Sunday was fully crowded.
The owner also gives training for the Biriyani nd Kabab preparation for start ups.
The only drawback is place, it is very conjusted nd No place to sit nd eat.
