I value flatter trajectories. If you want to hunt deer with a 300m (330yd) maximum point blank range and without magnum recoil, your two options are: 270 WIN and 6.5PRC The performance differences between these two cartridges on deer are marginal. I went with 270WIN due to brass availability. Cheers!
I'm a big fan of the "older" 6.5s... 6.5x55, .260 Rem (not that old), 6.5mm Rem Mag, .264 Win Mag. I refuse to own a 6.5 "Man-Bun". The PRC does make sense though. By the way, I cherish the .308 Norma Magnum, as well as its bigger brother the .358.
I just purchased a browning x bolt this year. I took a seven point buck and a doe this year love it. Shots were just at 100 yards wnd my old shoulder loves the almost no recoil. Ammo was old school Winchester PowerPoint 129 gr anchored them where they where!
Don't do it, I've had the Creedmoor. The Creedmoor has a place it's not in the mountains, the Creedmoor served me well as a varmint cartridge. As a deer cartridge I found it lacking, many of the deer I had shot did not have an exit hole, and unfortunately I lost one that was the day I sold my weatherby s2 and bought a rossi R95 lever action chambered in marlin 444. There are alot of old school calibers that still do the job well. But at the end of the day it's your decision, choose wisely my friend and do you research.
6.5 PRC, nipping at the heals of 264 winny. Dont get fooled, 264 needs a 26" bbl, 6.5 prc needs a 24" bbl, 6.5 creed needs 24" bbl. Please don't get a short barrel in prc, be at creed velocities 😮

If you take the time and do your research the 270 is a much better selection than the 6.5 prc. Don't follow the crowd on hear say.
