Dude a year and half later and your video is still doing it's magic. My printer had the same stupid paper stuck in the left side issue. Thankfully didn't need to open the printer just stuck my hand inside and removed it and now the error is gone. Massive thanku.
My issue was that the white gear you turned was stuck and wouldn't turn. Once i turned on the printer and 'helped' the gear move, everything started working; no more 6000 error. Just watching your video on how it is supposed to work helped me figure it out. Thank you very much. Your video is 6 years old, but still helping people.
hey i'm having the same issue with the white gear being stuck and not turning. Even when I turn on the printer and try to rotate it, it's still stuck. Was there anything else you had to do to get it turning again? it wiggles very little in either direction but ultimately cant turn freely
@@DarthJal1No, I just forced it to turn with a screwdriver like he did in the video and it ‘broke free’. Looks like you should be trying to turn it counterclockwise when looking through the open side cover.
Got it, I was able to get the wheel turning by moving the print head all the way to the gear by hand, and that released something, but still getting the error code and the printer head doesn’t really move to the right when it turns on
I love you. I watched another video where the guy took the printer apart using specialty tools. You offered a brilliant quick solution. Definitely the best DIY video I ever watched ❤
Thank you. Lots of printer repair videos out there but yours was the first to show where the paper jamn detail. I found paper rolled around the back but wouldn't have seen it without your front view showing paper Than k you again
I've dealt with printers for years and it simply did not occur to me this time to scoot over the print head and look. Thank you for helping me troubleshoot!
THANK YOU! I was about to dump the printer thinking it couldn't handle my updated computer. But I checked the ink cartridges, and one of them hadn't been inserted properly. You put me on the right track
Thank you so much, I have been trying to fix my printer for 2 hours before watching this video, I haven''t succeed, after watching this video it has taken only 5 minutes.
Thank you. I was not able to turn the white gear, but when I pushed the white tab back, it stayed in place allowing the printer to return to its normal operation. This was my second MX-922 in 3 years and I am very happy not to have to throw this one out. In addtion to the top and bottom tabs holding in the side panel, I found one or several inside the top right corner section [as you face the printer]. It took a bit of tugging to pull the panel off.
Thank you so much for this video! I bought this printer from Goodwill for $12 knowing it was probably too good to be true. But thanks to this video, it is now working just fine!
Thank you! My Canon was misaligned, cutting holes through the paper, and leaving streaks on the pages. After watching your video I cleaned the timing strip and so far everything is working normally!
Thank you. My MX924 was giving the same error. The first part of your video where you rotated the cog to let the carriage move all the way to the right solved my problem
@@303electronics So it fixed the problem but only for 7 pages then the error came back again. When I rotated that cog to reset the mechanism, I noticed that it was extremely stiff to turn it. This printer was given to us by someone who had it in a closet for "many years" so I suspect the lubrication in it may have dried and/or become sticky. So if you know how I can lubricate that mechanism I would be extremely grateful.
With my Canon Pixma MG7550, based on your video, I found out that the error code 6000 was due to the dried paint on the ink pads that was blocking the drive. Thanks for the video
I just had the C000 error code on my MX 920 and the problem was that after changing ink cartridges, one of them didn't seat properly. It felt like it seated correctly but it was sticking up very slightly in back. The red light on the cartridge was flashing to indicate that it was inserted properly. After pulling the cartridge and reseating it (and after trying everything else) it powered up with no error message and worked properly. Great video and it got me focusing in the proper area.
Thanks! This was super helpful - especially showing how to remove the right side cover, and doing everything with good lighting and a steady camera! Apparently the cheap black XL cartridge sprung a leak. I found a black ink drenched paper jammed in the printer and pulled out all that I could see, but there was one piece left that I could not see without taking the right side cover off. You are the man!
I have 2 of these printers (one for home and one for work). Both got this error message within 2 weeks of each other. This video explained better what the error actually was. I fixed both of them within minutes. Both of mine were because an ink cartridge wasn't clicked in exactly right. Thanks for explaining that the error was that the printer cartridge wasn't able to move rather than everything that I read from Canon saying it was a piece of paper stuck. They never told me to check the print cartridges.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for you support! I'm glad the video was able to help you with both your printers! Have a great day!!!
Thank you very much you solved my problem it was piece of paper stuck in there. I didn't have the instructions and i have a old model to but you solved it. Thank so very much you saved my life!
Thank you so much! I looked on the left, and there was the trouble...not a piece of paper, but (no idea how it got there) a piece of tape...You saved me getting a new printer!!!
Thank you soooo much! Your vid really helped me out with my printer! After weeks of posponing it i finally decided to try to fix it and i came across your vid, It turned out that one of the cartriges was stuck and therefore did not work! Now it is fixed and ready to go!
fantastic...thank you so much! the paper jam was in the exact same spot at yours in the video...had to remove the side panel to reach it. Very grateful.
OMG thank you so much!!! I thought I was going to have to buy a new printer... I didn't think it would be like the wordless tiniest piece of paper... You just saved me a lot of money. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks--the best take-home point of this video is to check for something mechanical that obstructs travel of the carriage. In my case, one of the ink cartridges had been dislodged/not locked in when an adjacent cartridge had just been changed. Not realizing this, I took off the side panel (which was not necessary) to look for other causes such as loose piece of paper, but no worries because I learned more about what goes on in there!
Thank You so very much.......I use to work on similar pieces of equipment in my earlier career and forgot a lot of the troubleshooting tech's and tried to cut corners but after watching your vid. took me back to the good old days! Thank You again so much I'd give you more thumbs up's if I could! :):):)
Thank you very much for the comment. I'm glad to have shared this with you. I do this since 2010 and continuing this work gives me good memories from when I started as well. I hope you have a great weekend!
Oh my God, your video literally saved my money and time! Was wracking my brains out trying to figure out whats wrong with my printer. (Mine was canon IX6870) The ink carriage wont budge and stopped printing. I called Canon service centre and they told me I had to take the printer to them to check and that will take around 3 weeks!!! Told them Im gonna try and fix this myself first since the warranty had already expired and this printer needs to be fixed asap. Tried everything that I found on the net, even cleaning the printer head, cuz I thought the print head was dirty, even bought a new print head, but still wont budge. And the annoying light keeps on flashing. Was about ready to give up & take the printer to the service centre when I tried to google one last time, typing the word 'Canon printer error 6000' and I found your video. I ALMOST DID NOT watch your video when I saw the printer in the video, is a different model from mine. But while trying to pack my printer in the box, I just let your video streamed on the background. And when I heard you said "FOUND IT!" I was intrigued to watch. LOL! Never occured to me that something might be stuck on the gear rollers inside, so I decided to just pop my printer open & used my torchlight to take a peek, and lo and behold!! There it is! LOL. But its not paper, it was a piece of tissue paper!! Haha, I think I used it last time to clean the dust and some of it was probably left behind and got stuck there. Thank U so much for this extremely helpful video!!!!!!
Thank you. Super helpful. I am not mechanical at all by nature but I followed your simple steps and instructions and was able to repair the printer. Fantastic. Thumbs up and subscribed.
Thank you so much for this video! I am surprised that I didn't get an error to tell me there was a paper jam (it gave me the 6000 error code message), but from watching your video you helped me to find it. Since the printer is old I thought I would have to get a new printer, but I can hang on for a while longer!
Thank you for saving me a fortune in either repair costs or a new printer! Once I understood what was causing the error, it was easy to fix! Cleaned up some ink that had spilled inside my printer and problem was sorted! Hooray! Super grateful!
Livesaver video. I was about to place my printer on the trash. For like two months I looked for a fix, and in less than 30 minutes it's working again. Thanks.
Thanks for this video -it gave me the confidence to look a bit harder and find a small piece of paper had jammed that I couldn't see unless I shone a light on it!
Thank you so much for this! I, too had a piece of paper stuck in the middle of the printer which was stopping the carriage moving back into position. I wasn't confident about unscrewing the side so I listened through to the end and found I didn't even need to do that. But I will know for another occasion. Just brilliant :-))
Haha. I heard a bzzroop! and then the error 6000 came up. While your video played in the background, I fished a coat hanger under the printhead carruage on my old MG6220, and heard something move. I finally got the head to move aside, using the hanger as an aid. Then I reached back there and found a small thermocouple with 2" of wire still attached from one of my electrical projects that must have somehow fallen in. That cleared the error and I didn't have to pull the cover!
Yes! Thank you, the instructions were very clear, I had indeed a piece of paper jammed in the gears that I could remove by removing the cover (I have a mg5750 model so I had to remove the left one instead of the right one though).
Great video but Unfortunately for me dont solve the problem. Seems that c000 error is not relevant to paper... Have you other suggestion? Thank you in advance!
Hi, Before I did the step you told us on youtube. I first make sure the inks were property Installed. I took out the inks that was newly inserted and reinserted. Turns out that the inks were not properly not installed. Before you do the step to open the printer and/or check for paper. Check to make sure the inks are correctly installed sometime it get stuck beecause the inks may not be installed the right way even if it the red light letting you know the inks had successfully installed.
I had that problem and I took the paper out but my printer is constantly jamming papers and the ink is always being smeared is there a way I can fix this
was going to send off to insurance you should be able to retrieve paper without unscrewing thus not voiding your warranty. thanks though saved me massively!!!!
Thank you for the video. I tried all the other reset tips for 6000 code error but none worked. My cartridge was stuck on the right side and could not be moved to where I can remove the print cartridge or ink tanks. I took the right side panel off and the white gear you moved would not move. I poked around to see if I can get that gear released with no luck. However when I plugged the printer in and turned it on the error code was gone and the printer is printing fine now.
I have a MG5760 with error code 6000. There’s NO paper stuck but my Printer Head (the thing with cartridges) is stuck on the left hand side. Any advice. Please help! Thanks, Tania
Thanks for the video, I am having error 6000 for my MX727. My problem is the white gear cannot be turned at all. I couldn’t figure out what is the cause. Please help and thanks in advance. It all started with error 6002 warning after print head cleaning and after restart, error 6000 appeared.
Thank you for this guidance, sure enough a tiny scrap over on the left side, in the gear set, behind the carriage/ print head. Thanks mate! Stay safe! From Andrew in Tasmania
I opening it up and saw that those pads are stuck down and wont come up and the gear won't move. So I reached in to try to move it and then this little white plastic piece fell out. It looks like a little white plastic trough, and now I don't know how to put it back in or where it's even supposed to go. The white gear is completely stuck in place and won't budge, I've got a little plastic piece that I don't know what to do with, and my hands are covered in ink. Should I just call a special list and fork over the dough to have them fix it?
Halo, I have a printer canon MB 5150 I was printing from the mobile suddenly the printer stopped and showed the support no.5204 could you please let me know how to fix this problem.
Error message 6000. My ink tanks won't moved to the right either. The white round notched wheel that you move with the screwdriver just won't budge. Any thoughts as how to make it turn? I've checked for a paper jam in the back of the unit also, nothing there. Thank you
I know this video is old, but I’m having trouble with mine. I have the side panel off but I can’t turn the gear. I’m afraid I’ll break it if I’m too hard on it so now I don’t know what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.
CANON is great for cameras and should only stay in that business! I personally only use the old HP laserjet 2000 Series printers which are amazingly robust. Thisd is also my contribution for preventing to junk up our planet earth !!!
@@303electronics .Thank you Applied the cleaning process with water and it was successful, but if repeated cleaning in this way spoils the head. I have another question if I can fill the cartridges with another ink
I also had error 6000. The paper jam was easily accessed from the back of the printer. A grey piece/part was easily removed to be able to see the piece of paper that was jamming it. And the paper was easily removed. Nothing else needed to be taken apart.
Hi. First try to remove all ink cartridges, turn printer off, then on and if error went away, Install one cartridge at a time and close cover after each cartridge. The bad cartridge will trigger that error again. If error doesn ot go away after you removed cartridges, remove printhead. check all areas inside to make sure there isn;t any paper stuck inside printer. Open back cover to get better view also. Let me knwo how that goes.
@@303electronics it's the one in this video- the pixma mx922. But I figured it out. I just got done taking the whole printer apart to fix this tiny little yellow piece 😑😂😂, but I got it :) Thank you!!
I have found that if the printhead is stuck on the left side, you will get this error. Switch off, open lid, gently lean a screwdriver against the head to apply pressure to the right, switch on and when the printhead jerks to the right, pull the power plug and slide the head all the way to the right to get it to lock "home"" This may be a 2 person job. If the head does not slide easily, do not force it, repeat till you get the timing right.
thanks a lot m8 - you saved me from a lot of trouble - no need to remove anything - just push right , plug out and then push right at the and ...then all was ok - thumbs up for your solution
I fixed a CANON MX925-Printer with error-code 6000 within minutes. The slider with the ink jet cartridges was stuck at the left side. I forced a screw-driver into the gap above the ink cartridges and could move the slider to the cartridge exchange position. Here I recognized that the yellow ink cartridge had evidently jumped out of its holding position. Now, after re-assembling all five ink cartridges the printer is working fine again.
I know this is 2 years old but I have yet to find any paper in my printer and I love this printer but right now I would sell it for parts. How do you find something that is keeping your carriage from moving that is so small you can't even see it? I am so open for any help right now. See my wheel won't spin. That is why I am having a problem and can't figure it out. I also noticed your carriage is loose when it moves and I had a white hook pop out of mine and I don't have the slightest clue where it came from and what it does or if it has anything to do with the problem. They tell you everything that you need to make it work but nothing about the small parts that can come loose.
I'm sorry that this isn't working for your printer. You must understand that this is not going to fix 100% of the printers. Thanks for your input. Have a great day!

Thank you for your feedback! Glad I could help!
I have this exact same problem on an MG7720. There are no screws on the back. How do I remove the side panel?
Great upload it helped me to bring back the printer working.
Thanks you! I rescued my mg6850 from stuck piece of paper behind inks block
Awesome! Good work! Thanks for sharing. Have a great day!!!
Your video was fantastic. I was able to follow your instructions and get my printer working again. Thanks for taking the time to post it.
This helped me so much. I was ready to throw this thing away lol
شكرا لك انت الوحيد الذي صدقت حلت مشكلة شكرا كثيرا ❤

Glad it helped!
I have a tiny piece of paper stuck in the rollers on the left and I can't get my hand in. How do I get access to it?
Thanks. My C000 error mesage was caused because I accidently knocked / lifted up one of the other ink cartidges - when replacing inks x
Thanks for sharing this info. I'm sure it may be helpful for someone having this error. Have a great day.
No problem , thanks 😊 x
Thanks for the video, I am having error 6000 for my MX727. My problem is the white gear cannot be turned at all. I couldn’t figure out what is the cause. Please help and thanks in advance.
It all started with error 6002 warning after print head cleaning and after restart, error 6000 appeared.
I fixed my printer following by your instruction. Thanks for saved my time and money. Appreciated !
Thank you for this guidance, sure enough a tiny scrap over on the left side, in the gear set, behind the carriage/ print head. Thanks mate! Stay safe! From Andrew in Tasmania
Canon is restored to 'World's Best Printer'!
Thank you! This help so much more than anything suggested for the 6000 error. Printer is fixed.
Halo, I have a printer canon MB 5150 I was printing from the mobile suddenly the printer stopped and showed the support no.5204 could you please let me know how to fix this problem.
Mine is still not working, I found no paper jammed and my cartridge does not move freely to the right
Same. Still have the error
Error message 6000. My ink tanks won't moved to the right either. The white round notched wheel that you move with the screwdriver just won't budge. Any thoughts as how to make it turn? I've checked for a paper jam in the back of the unit also, nothing there. Thank you
I have the same issue with mine right now...did you find a solution to make it turn?
I’m having that same issue now. Were you able to fix it?
I'm having this same issue now. That wheel will will not budge. Did anyone find a solution for this problem?
I know this video is old, but I’m having trouble with mine. I have the side panel off but I can’t turn the gear. I’m afraid I’ll break it if I’m too hard on it so now I don’t know what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Same with mine. Did you ever find a solution for this?
thank you perfect video really helped with the printer issue I was having.
thank you again. yours appreciatively Dave
Thanks, I don't find any rip paper but a little white thing prevent the ink carriage to the rest position.
CANON is great for cameras and should only stay in that business! I personally only use the old HP laserjet 2000 Series printers which are amazingly robust. Thisd is also my contribution for preventing to junk up our planet earth !!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
MY PRINTER IS WORKING NOW!!!
Happy to hear that! You're welcome! 🙂
In my printer canon 5751 the big black head no prints.what is the solution?

@@303electronics .Thank you Applied the cleaning process with water and it was successful, but if repeated cleaning in this way spoils the head. I have another question if I can fill the cartridges with another ink
Gold star buddy I have a MG5350 and had a piece of paper in the EXACT same area!
Thank you! I'm glad you got it out! Have a great day!
I also had error 6000. The paper jam was easily accessed from the back of the printer. A grey piece/part was easily removed to be able to see the piece of paper that was jamming it. And the paper was easily removed. Nothing else needed to be taken apart.
Had the same problem, same fix
Hi, Please could you help me with the error code 5208 or the service manual for MB5400 series?
Great video. Really helpful.
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful. Have a great day!
This was very helpful but what is the yellow cord that's attached to the ink cartridge? Mine disconnected and I cant get it back into place :/
I'm not sure of the yellow cord that connects to cartridge. What is the printer model you have?
@@303electronics it's the one in this video- the pixma mx922. But I figured it out. I just got done taking the whole printer apart to fix this tiny little yellow piece 😑😂😂, but I got it :) Thank you!!
@@303electronics if you go to 8:37 of your video you see the yellow cord I'm talking about all the way in the background.
Thanks a ton, saved me time and money.
Glad it helped! Thank you very much for your feedback! Have a great day!
THANK YOU! this was incredibly helpful and fixed my printer problem
Solved!!! Thank you for your video. Thanks, thanks
You're welcome! I'm glad it did, thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
@@ΔΗΜΗΤΡΗΣΙΝΤΖΕΣ My pleasure!
Thank you so so mutch You helped me more than a lot, super video, no bs and straight to the point.
Glad to hear it. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day!
IM HAVING PROBLEM WITH CANON TS704 WITH ERROR 6000, IM USING IT PRINTING DISC NOT PAPERS HOW DO I FIX IT?
Thank you very much!! You solved my problem too!!
You're welcome! Thanks for the feedback! Have a great weekend!
Thanks so much! I had this happen on an MG6320, moving the gear fixed it straight up. I am very happy that the printer is not at all junk :)
Your video saved my day!
