So glad you made this. But how could you skip Chapter 4? It's probably the most interestingly designed level in the series. I'd love to see camera experiments for it.
They did a great job of making the landscape art look like it's ripped right from an American comic book, but goddamn, anything 3D in this game that moves is uncanny valley AF. Where d'ya come from? Where d'ya go? Where does the train go, Viewtiful Joe. ::violin music::
Shesez is stupidly well-suited to being Viewtiful Joe. I can't beleive it never occured to me before, but that's exactly who he reminded me of. I wondered how I knew him!
What? That can't be right. I remember playing this game... wait.. oh that's funny, I have memories of playing this game in '99, that's not possible. Silly memories! Well alright then, even more approximate. Unless that represents the hologram
13:21 Gotta love that "Confession" OST. Also, I love seeing a video about Viewtiful Joe, it was my first PS2 game and watching others talk about it makes me happy, since it's not a game that everyone knows about.
Boy, I tell ya. Making this intro was one of the weirdest animations I've ever done. The models had such STRANGE controls. For example, if I moved Joe's head Counter Clockwise, out of nowhere, his head would flip upside down. Still, it was a very fun video to make. I wish I had recorded the process. Some very funny bloopers.
Was this made by the same people as Okami, or something? I mean, I already know that it is, but wow, the art style looks so similar. I wonder why they don't still use it; it looks really nice.
I agree i think the art style holds up really well. Gameplay remains very unique to its series as well. It's a shame we don't see as much ingenuity on this level with games anymore
I feel as if we still see some cool ideas and art styles in games. I think it is just that hindsight is 20/20 and we get to see what games hold up. Also with the increased graphical fidelity of games, there is a push for things to look more realistic and less of a need for creative visual trickery. Indie studios still have a lot of limitations that do create some interesting visuals, and some larger companies do experiment.
just because no one else answered your question: Yes, it was made by the same people. They were called Clover Studios... They later split off from capcom and became Platinum Games, the makers of Bayonetta, Anarchy Reigns, and Wonderful 101, among other things
+mokana713 It's not visual trickery, it's called having an art style instead of ugly photo-realism. Having a good art style is always way more visually stimulating than photo-realism.
OMG that film rail stuff during cutscenes is so trippy man. By the way, what about boundary breaking S.T.A.L.K.E.R. there are many areas that a player cant reach, that might be interesting
This was awesome! I've always wondered what VJ would be like with full control of the camera. Have you ever thought about making a video on Tomba! Or Tomba 2! ?
I do want to do Viewtiful Joe 2 someday. mostly because i never finished it myself and would much like to breeze through it really quick to catch the story while also providing a BB episode. But as for the other characters intros. Maybe i'll do a live stream to show them off sometime. Just to show it off without making a seperate production for them
Okay so this didn't age as good as I thought it did... I've got to say this is really shattering all of my misconceptions about there being land outside of windows as opposed to tiny textures of sky boxes walling things off. Next video!
Do you have an ending number in mind for this series, or will you continue it as long as there are games you want to do this with? I've loved every episode of this.
The hope is to continue it for as long as i can. I think if it ever gets to a point where i just dont want to do it anymore though I'll make sure everyone is well aware and that i put out a final episode. Always hated when prominent youtubers would just disappear without a word about it. That all said though, im still very excited to keep the series going right now and look forward to what games we can do in the future
I was wondering how do you choose which game would be featured in Boundary Break. I mean you always do a vote between 2 games but how do you choose these 2 games ? So far it seems the games you chose were Nintendo related and would need to be able to run on your pc so you can tweak raw memory with your emulators; which is totally fine. I heard in one of the video that you wouldn't mind to deal with some Playstation 2 game, so I suppose there won't be only Nintendo games. But still how do you choose the 2 next games for the community to vote ?
I literally try to recall just two games that can be doable as an episode. Sometimes i can remember a game lots of people were suggesting but i dont have them documented like i should be. Some games that i wouldnt have thought to do that viewers influenced to even get in the poll AND WON are: Paper Mario TTYD, Sonic Adventure, gamecube tech demo, Luigis Mansion, and Paper Mario 64. Some entries that have showed up that were completely viewer influenced are Wii Sports and Mario Party off the top of my head
Damn, the big Buddha statue in Afghanistan at around 12:54 doesn't even exist anymore. It was bombed by the Taliban in 2001 and the game was released two years after that. Not sure why Capcom left those in.
I mean, there is also the Tower of Babel, but it looks like the typical representation you will find in arts, not the actual reconstruction of the tower.
I feel your pain brother. Ive been waiting years or a HD collection just so i could get back to trying to beat Viewtiful Joe 2... Sadly, Capcom decided to Henshin A-No-Go
A rumor that probably is true is that Nintendo will be releasing Gamecube games on the Virtual Console. So you might be able to play them on the Switch soon.
I've played this game probably over 20 times & I only just now understood "I rule the roost around here." Some of the dialogue is really hard to understand in this game. Especially almost anything Charles or Bruce says.
For anyone else wondering about the other books ~ @3:33 I had to pause the video to check the titles on the other books. They're all Italian operas: Turandot, Il trovatore, and Nabucco.
It's neat that that theme played in Phoenix Wright when Wright was defending his innocence while everyone thought he was guilty & it played in Viewtiful Joe when Captain Blue was confessing his crimes after seeming innocent for most of the game.
For this particular game it's probably a gamecube/wii emulator called Dolphin that has freelook normally. For other games it's probably different emulators or developer cheats left in the game's code, or even fan-created cheats that let you fly around when you shouldn't be able to.
Zachary Erickson not the past few months, also trust me, the heat and humidity is terrible, and the only seasons we get are summer, summer, summer, and slightly colder summer
Hey Shesez, I'd like to know what other games are on your list? If I can give any suggestions, try doing boundary break for games like Bayonetta or Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Hyrule Warriors. Mario Kart 8 would be great if you have not done that yet.
Wii U games are something i want to get to as soon as its technically possible! I would probably start off with Mario Kart 8 and move onto Smash 4. Buuuut right now theres just no software that allows me to do it... Yet!! But when it does, i'll be right on top of it. Basically any game i havnt done is something im willing to do. I kind of spontaneously pick titles to go against each other in the polls based off of the loudest suggestions from viewers leading up to the publish of my latest videos
3:40 Are the other book titles operas? I googled what I thought the titles said. It looks like they say: Nabucco Turandot iL Trovatore not sure what Italian operas have to do with Viewtiful Joe, but thought it was interesting.
Have you ever played Gotcha Force? It was also made for the GameCube by Capcom. I don't think it would be good for a Boundary Break episode, but it was a unique game.
Meh, having a book called "Open Sesami" be used to open a door isn't as clever as using a chainsaw to amputate your hand on top of "A Farewell to Arms"
Nice video! You know, Xenoblade Chronicles would be cool, I've heard there's quite a lot of hidden details in the game, such as hidden geometry and one unused area.
Oh I'm aware, I guess it'd be pretty daunting to do it all at once. Why not do it in parts? each part covering a different are, it would make it easier to showcase all the cool hidden stuff. Just a suggestion, no pressure! Just keep doing what you do, it's great!
MAN I loved Viewtiful Joe, they need to bring this guy back. Remaster at LEAST please!
Phiidyn i loved viewtiful joe so much, it was awesome
The Wonderful 101 got remastered, so it's possible.
Being an avid Ace Attorney fan...
Wow, Capcom. You sneaky.
8:15 "Where does it come from, where does it go? Where does it come from, Viewtiful Joe?"
Missed opportunity for a dad joke
hahaha! so true
Grand Dad?
High Quality Jokes?
Really? Slow down the action to dodge bullets and hit the missles back at it.
Maybe it's Thehelicopter27
This video was simply Viewtiful.
So glad you made this.
But how could you skip Chapter 4? It's probably the most interestingly designed level in the series. I'd love to see camera experiments for it.
I'm a sucker for stuff like this--and with one of my favorite games of all time? Awesome, thank you!! :D
Huh, there's an Ace Attorney song in this game... That's pretty cool, pal!
We miss you Gumshoe! Come back!
Shesez I'll try my best for the next Ace Attorney, pal! At least I'm in the anime...
That script easter egg really is something!
They did a great job of making the landscape art look like it's ripped right from an American comic book, but goddamn, anything 3D in this game that moves is uncanny valley AF.
Where d'ya come from? Where d'ya go? Where does the train go, Viewtiful Joe. ::violin music::
Viewtiful joe for smash
The one true falcon clone
Most underrated game ever tried ppl sleepin on this. Thank you for doing this.
that intro is 10/10
Thank you very much ^_^
Shesez is stupidly well-suited to being Viewtiful Joe. I can't beleive it never occured to me before, but that's exactly who he reminded me of. I wondered how I knew him!
Never played Viewtiful Joe. Looks awesome, especially when its boundaries are broken!
It's a very intense game I highly recommend it good sir!
5:29
This is the one line I will never get out of my head.
the sacred family chapel is in Barcelona, not France!
the pride of my homeland is crushed...
Sorry, but the statue was bombed two years before the release of the game, namely 2001.
What? That can't be right. I remember playing this game... wait.. oh that's funny, I have memories of playing this game in '99, that's not possible. Silly memories!
Well alright then, even more approximate. Unless that represents the hologram
Copyright lol
i have not played this game for 10+ years, my parents regretted buying me this game because of VJ’s hand gesture😂 the memories!!!!! Brings me back
i can't believe you made a video about Viewtiful Joe, thank you so much for this. this game is truly underrated
DAAAAVISON IS IN THE HOOOUSE
13:21 Gotta love that "Confession" OST. Also, I love seeing a video about Viewtiful Joe, it was my first PS2 game and watching others talk about it makes me happy, since it's not a game that everyone knows about.

Still, it was a very fun video to make. I wish I had recorded the process. Some very funny bloopers.
you should definitely do a blooper series!!
Shesez Also, thanks again for the shoutout. Appreciated as always ^_^
That intro was adorable XD
EM-0F could be Enemy Machine 15 (0F is 15 in hexadecimal) or something like that.

It's not visual trickery, it's called having an art style instead of ugly photo-realism. Having a good art style is always way more visually stimulating than photo-realism.
Both Viewtiful Joe and Okami have the same director; Hideki Kamiya. That's who you're lookin' for! He also directed Beyonetta and The Wonderful 101!
I can't believe you've done it for this game. What a great surprise. Thanks.
This is like one of my favorite game series. I seriously could play it all day.
I'm so glad you do Joe, many hours in these games
OMG that film rail stuff during cutscenes is so trippy man.
By the way, what about boundary breaking S.T.A.L.K.E.R. there are many areas that a player cant reach, that might be interesting
I really hope that Viewtiful Joe comes out early on the Gamecube VC on Switch. like, within the first month.
Now I really have to play this game. It's been on my PS2 collection for so long, I feel like I'm just letting a gem collect dust.
Rescue it from the life of a shelf jockey and show it some love!
omg you replied! Love your work man.
Thanks a lot dude!
This was awesome! I've always wondered what VJ would be like with full control of the camera. Have you ever thought about making a video on Tomba! Or Tomba 2! ?
I havnt! but Tomba would be a fun episode im absolutely sure!
Oh man, I remember this game too! I rented this from a Take-One Video when I was a little kid.
I love how Capcom made the Earth to have the Canary Island. Most games use to forget them.
I never spotted La Sagrada Familia in game. Having been there, it's glorious to see it rock up in any game's finale.
Intro:
local man destroys magic sentient camera and gets arrested
*N O P E*
Yet another nice video! I remember a SpongeBob game with so much content found where you can't see.
(Revenge Of The Flying Dutchman)
Awesome work as always. Love your content
Thanks for making this, I looopve this gaem series
I didn't know people don't know Viewtiful Joe!!!! It is amazing!!! Bring him back capcom!
Joe's leg tapping is actually emphatically featured in the cutscene; he's creeped out when Bruce starts fantasising about eating him.
Any plans on doing the others as well?
Or showing off what the other's intros were like either? Beyond Joe and Blue.
I do want to do Viewtiful Joe 2 someday. mostly because i never finished it myself and would much like to breeze through it really quick to catch the story while also providing a BB episode.
But as for the other characters intros. Maybe i'll do a live stream to show them off sometime. Just to show it off without making a seperate production for them
How did you do that? Change Joe's appearance?
Okay so this didn't age as good as I thought it did... I've got to say this is really shattering all of my misconceptions about there being land outside of windows as opposed to tiny textures of sky boxes walling things off. Next video!
Do you have an ending number in mind for this series, or will you continue it as long as there are games you want to do this with? I've loved every episode of this.

@ 14:35
Joyous applause has never been so terrifying 😨
Hey I loved the video is there any way I can get the textures and assets from the game I have an idea to use them in a project
I looove this game! Thanks for featuring it!
No problemo man! glad youre a fellow fan of the game!
I was wondering how do you choose which game would be featured in Boundary Break. I mean you always do a vote between 2 games but how do you choose these 2 games ?

Alright. Thank you for the quick answer =)
Always STU! thanks for the great question. Never been asked that one before

Hi, I was wondering will you do uncharted 2, I have always been curious about the train sequence.
*Damn this game for formatting my memory card! 100 plus hours!*
8:33 Nice FF7 reference.
First to catch it!!
This takes me back to when I played the game in my youth. You think you could do a BB on the sequel?
When are we gonna get a Viewtiful Joe re-release?! I never got to play them :(
I feel your pain brother. Ive been waiting years or a HD collection just so i could get back to trying to beat Viewtiful Joe 2... Sadly, Capcom decided to Henshin A-No-Go
bigevilworldwide1 Okami is another game I want to be able to play on my current gen consoles. Maybe one day :/
We can emulate for now :( I just started kingdom hearts, it's really surprising how it runs on a weak computer
+Suhkma Dheek Also, definitely stay legal. you can get some of the games cheap! :D
A rumor that probably is true is that Nintendo will be releasing Gamecube games on the Virtual Console. So you might be able to play them on the Switch soon.

Great Phoenix wright fact man!

It's neat that that theme played in Phoenix Wright when Wright was defending his innocence while everyone thought he was guilty & it played in Viewtiful Joe when Captain Blue was confessing his crimes after seeming innocent for most of the game.
I used to have both VJ 1&2 on PS2. Sadly, I haven't beat both of them, due to being stuck at the Boss Rush chapter.
How are you able to move the camera in these videos?
For this particular game it's probably a gamecube/wii emulator called Dolphin that has freelook normally. For other games it's probably different emulators or developer cheats left in the game's code, or even fan-created cheats that let you fly around when you shouldn't be able to.
Any chance of getting an Okami Boundary Break?
*Oh, that's a good idea for an episode.*
how did i miss this episode!? welp now for me to watch
Let me know what you thought!
first part of the huge battle on earth I could see my house from there, it is florida
such nice weather over there! lucky duck
Zachary Erickson not the past few months, also trust me, the heat and humidity is terrible, and the only seasons we get are summer, summer, summer, and slightly colder summer
Zachary Erickson I thought you were, local, well while it does usually rain all the time, especially during the summer, but not these past few months
Catsinelixe Holloway your house isn't Florida...
4:55 was he also the original winged devil in Ghosts N Goblins?
This are always interesting to watch. Keep it up.
thanks man i appreciate it
Shesez I recently found this channel the other day. I have subscribed and will continue to do so. :D
thats awesome dude, how did you find me btw?
Shesez I was looking in a Luigi's Mansion beta trailer and I saw your video and decided to check it out.
Are there any big spoilers in this? I plan on doing a blind Let's Play of it in the future
There are spoilers. I would recommend coming back to this video after your blind lets play
Thanks a lot, I'll do just that!

Oh alright then, well I really look forward to your upcoming videos! Your content is great! :)
thanks a lot man!
3:40 Are the other book titles operas? I googled what I thought the titles said. It looks like they say:
Nabucco
Turandot
iL Trovatore
not sure what Italian operas have to do with Viewtiful Joe, but thought it was interesting.
Thanks for sharing!
Today is a good day to be playing Kevin Michael Bingoson.
7:35 the left giant city mage's weapon reminds me of the dudes on the Road of Sacrifices..
I need to get around to finishing Viewtiful Joe one of these days.
Have you ever played Gotcha Force? It was also made for the GameCube by Capcom. I don't think it would be good for a Boundary Break episode, but it was a unique game.
would you recommend i try it?
Well, I'll just say it's a toy mech fighting game with cringey voice acting. :)
i love cringey voice acting!
Can you...can you do this for resident evil games?I know you done this for Resident Evil 4 so.
re4 is in the playlist
This game was a classic
are you inside my head? I'm playing Phoenix Wright in the window next to this, I just heard that theme
i have never seen this game before in my life
Those giant statues that hate the moon remind me of Bayonetta.
what console is this game on?
Gamecube and Ps2! Highly recommend it as well!
THANK YOU FOR THIS
you bet man. Had to give VJ some love
Shesez True that.
PLEASE, PLEASE DO LITTLE NIGHTMARES! I REALLY WANT TO FIND WHATS UNDER THE CHEFS MASK!!
that one game that formatted your playstation when you played the demo.
I'm fairly certain it says EM-UP instead of EM-OP, which is funny, seeing as it shows up in a shoot-em-up section.

You can also find it under Reminiscence ~ Elementary School Trial, and Recollection ~ Elementary School Trial.
I would love you forever if you did an episode on the Spyro series!! :3
some of the later games are possible. maybe we'll get to it after the high profile games are out of the way :)
Shesez That would be awesome, looking forward to it since it is one of my favourite franchices! :)
I get the feeling Shesez is a giant Viewtiful Joen fan
I fucking love viewtiful joe
Henshin a Go-go, Baby ;)
Bring this to switch
I don't think he works at Nintendo.....
Xenoblade is huuuuuge! i'd love to do it, but i would need to be doing BB full time to get the episode out at a decent time
Oh I'm aware, I guess it'd be pretty daunting to do it all at once. Why not do it in parts? each part covering a different are, it would make it easier to showcase all the cool hidden stuff. Just a suggestion, no pressure! Just keep doing what you do, it's great!
Not a bad idea! I might have to consider it
Thanks, even if you don't I'll still be here. I look forward to all future projects!
I could hardly understand what Fire Leo was saying every time I played this game.
We will never get to see viewtiful joe 3
I live this game, too bad all the copyright stuff and they cant conclude the series
bigevilworldwide1 What about Phoenix Wright? Street Fighter?
aspen the swamp god also Devil May Cry 1 2 and 3. Megaman all of them.
Alastor's voice sounds... very familiar. But I just can't place it.
Just so you know, japanese people use the wink when they imply sexual innuendo. It's like a "you know what I mean".
