Running is fair, as long as it’s not into the Red Sea. That’s just a longer way of scuttling your ship. However, running as a reaper is generally “frowned upon” in the community because you are on the map to incentivize people to fight you, and when you run away from reaper hideout into the Red Sea, nobody enjoys that experience. The reason this video was about “reaper runners” wasn’t the fact they they were just running away because they were out gunned, it was the fact that they had loot and were running to the Red Sea instead of turning to knock our sails down and then continuing to run to reapers and sell or drop their flag. I myself run from fights when I am not able to actually fight back, but I’ll never fully run to the Red Sea or run away from the battle, I’ll come back again with supplies and a plan. My take on the matter is simply, don’t run to the Red Sea with your loot. ESPECIALLY as a reaper, because you knew people would come looking for a fight. You can run anywhere else on the map, even the shores of gold. The end 🙏
Personally, I think that's the main reason behind why most Reapers run away. They spend all their time fighting people, they probably don't have any cannonballs or wooden planks.
once me and 3 friends stacked a fotd and a sloop came ran away after dropping one off on the fotd so we would chase come back and by the time we killed te guy on the island theyd be back to drop him/her/whatever off again at the island. this went on for hours before we sunk them. If they didn't want them to do pvp they would mark them on the map and literally call them the pvp faction. The whole point is to sink other ships and steal the loot they got from PvE. If they could not sell that what would be the point?
They used to give you XP for sinking ships and killing players but removed it. Don't ask me why, that's the whole point. But now the only effective way to level up is loot
Been thinking of making a new subtype of Reaper I call Escort Reapers, they’re more friendlier and do a more mercenary bodyguard duty in return for the emissary flag they are using, just for the less PvP kind of players
I wish this was a feature. I'm tired of being bullied by 50+ day players just because I'm trying to peacefully level my reapers by selling stuff and not doing pvp. :(
My girlfriend just wanted to do Legends of the veil. A running reaper galley sunk us, But surprisingly, she took the reins and commanded our galleon for two straight hours to pursue them. She persuaded the server to attack the reaper galleon like a hyena pack, unfortunately, the cowards ran into the Red Sea but she didn't care nor did I. We just wanted those reapers gone and we scared them off the best way we knew how
Chased a level 1 galleon reaper as a level 5 gold hoarder sloop (dripping with hours of loot) for over an hour yesterday. They ran away from us like we were the bullies, they had nothing at all to lose but wouldn't fight the 'scary' sloop. They had next to nothing on board, but those are sometimes the best sinks of all.
See, I wish that there was a anti reaper faction, kinda like dark souls blue sentinels, or maybe even a bounty system, the more a squad sinks and steals look the higher their bounty.
I dont play sea of theives that often but I can count on one hand the times a reapers ship actually engaged and fought us of their own volition. Even yesterday I worked up a gold hoarders lv5 flag cause gold hoarders was my lowest trading company at rank 33, and of the 3 reaper ships i encountered not 1 attacked us, one ran away successfully, one scuttled once we got close, and one we ran down till they ran out of boards to repair and sank, a lv5 gold hoarder chasing reapers...
Few months ago me and my friend were running gold hoarders sloop and we had like 4 hours of stacking loot on our ship. Then reaper 3 brig started chasing us. My plan was to go really far into red sea and then went back by anchor. My friend was repairing our ship so we didn't sunk. After we turned back those idiots didn't do the same. They started turning back the normal way and got much more holes in their ship because they were still swimming forward. We haven't seen them later I felt really good that day
Idk, I see no issue to running as a reaper. Sure, it's BM if you run to, but for me at least that method is reserved for when the attackers are BMing first. Scummy tactics = scummy evasion. Reap what you sow. What I would consider the worst type of player though are the people who want to sink you for the sake of sinking you. The kind of people who would chase you down whilst you're doing tall tales, or even just hunting journals. You have no loot, you tell them you're just doing journals, you offer to let them board to take whatever supplies or silver cups you picked up, but they chase you down with hostile intentions regardless. I think the actuall worst type if player is the type that joins your crew, and spawn kills you for 10 minutes before sending threats to steal your IP adress, until you just leave.
I play alone and the worst thing is to be attacked by a team of 4 against one while i am busy on a boss. easy like that. the last time I harassed them for more than an hour by chasing them and ramming their boat nonstop. They rage quit, even if i have to die and spawn several times to piss you off i will.
Sadly, I had to run on a reaper galleon yesterday, BUT, it was because one of our friends had to leave, one was stuck in the brig and we could release him for some reason, AND we had no cannonballs because we got a kraken right after a meg
Hello ExodusAblaze Gaming! I was on a boat at the time of the scene. The boat was not seen or described in the video. I heard and remember you saying "Perhaps...I'm not saying yes I don't want to say yes to this". I was slightly unaware that another player in another crew said this because I was slightly close to your location. You couldn't see us because our ship was beginning to sink and I blew up my own boat so you could do your thing. =)
Where can I run into these reapers? Only reapers I ever run into are the ones that chase me endlessly no matter how, many times I sink them. Kills my entire session when I have to stop doing my voyage entirely when I have to stop every few minutes to fight off that crew with nothing to gain and everything to lose.
Even worse are the Reapers who run from the ones they piss off, then lower their Emissary and then go to another ship, claiming THEY are the innocent ones and ask for help when they know damn well they started the shit. Know what would solve ALL toxicity problems though? Invite Only sessions.
The worst type of players are the ones who spawn camp for just for the "fun" of it, and then only sink you after at least 15 minutes of doing it or until the other crew leaves the server. This just happened to me last week, it's the most annoying thing that's ever happened to me in SoT. They parked next to us and we would only be alive for 10 seconds at the most until we were killed.
Very sorry this happened to you! I myself run into people like this who spawn camp unfairly and ruin the experience for everyone involved. Hope you have better luck on your next sail!
Tip: don't fight them after spawning and jump into water, facing ship with your gun out. Swim a bit further from the ship, but keep it in sight. Watch them jump in eventually and with a bit of practice and luck you'll have more of a chance then before. Always carry fire and blunder bombs as well, and be prepared to set fire to your own ship in key areas, like the stairs below and above etc.
I don't usually run reapers because I usually don't want to be tracked. But in the rare situation that I do I'm just trying to get some rep and will only pvp if players come to me. But I generally prefer to run because I really don't care for ship battles. Too long when I work 12 hour work shifts and only have 2-3 hours to play after getting home
Although alot of players don't understand that some people play this game differently lol a running reaper is kinda dumb but a normal ship just doing stuff I believe it's fine to run. Some people just don't have the energy to fight lol
I am amazed how good you are at this game damn! And even more amazed at finding out you have only 2.4k subs even tho this is such good quality! Keep it up man you're great. c:
I remember that one time where we literally had 0 planks, 0 cannonballs and a few bananas and we were forced to b line to the Reaper Hideout and sell all. It wasn't an act of cowardice, it was the same ship coming again and again for the 5th time and we were literally unable to fight
literally just had a reaper last night (grade 5) run from me my crew and hide in the red sea via shores of gold. we waited them out and they eventually ragequit and let their loot sink rather then fight us -_- we were grade 2 Reapers and i guess our glowing Reaper cosmetics scared them? lol
I try to avoid reapers if I can help it. I'm not afraid of PvP, but I'm not out looking for it. I want to make the moneys. Also, your video's are very high quality. I'd say you're well on your way to 100k subs and beyond. Keep it up.
the only running reaper I'm fine with is a sloop v galleon, I mean with brig you have a chance, especially with 2 players, but gally is hard to see, they can have 1 man repair, 2 on cannons, and 1 steer, while you have 1 cannon and 1 steer/repair guy
I don't mind running as a reaper as long as I'm luring a ship into a bad spot like a ghost fleet which will help me sink them. I call it the Han Solo maneuver.
reminds me of when we were doing an ashen wind a reaper come to sink are brig i finish the event my teammate just go in circles round the island. Once the event was cleared we sunk them they had nothing really. while we are getting item on are boat server merge and another reaper ship we sink them aswell. We head to closest outpost to see the reaper crew we sunk not even running reaper anymore to try and sneak up on us we just run all the way from Mermaid to Morrow Peak and use a rowboat and 2 of us to sell it all. once we sell it all we sink them again feeling fulfilled we leave the game and it being late at night.
Man this looks so easy but i get destroyed in combat lol. Idk how to get better and ngl SOT's gun system is very different compared to a lot of other games i play. Another problem is that i play on console and for some reason you cant double-gun. Theres a slight delay between switching guns and being able to fire again.
Just today I had 3 reaper ships bigger than my crew run into the Red Sea or dump loot while we chased them just so no one could have it ….. it’s straight up sad
Man i got a tearable teammate because he done kept not repairing the boat. Shot fireworks at the enime. Caused the anker to fall and made up hit a rock. Against a skeleton ship. A skeleton SHIP.

"oh you're right there" lmao 💀
I thought this video was from a huge channel from how good it was, you deserve waaay more subscribers
Some people steal a crew's boat, this man steals a boat's crew
Hello ExodusAblaze Gaming! I was on a boat at the time of the scene. The boat was not seen or described in the video. I heard and remember you saying "Perhaps...I'm not saying yes I don't want to say yes to this". I was slightly unaware that another player in another crew said this because I was slightly close to your location. You couldn't see us because our ship was beginning to sink and I blew up my own boat so you could do your thing. =)
Your welcome!
Reapers is NOT ALL about pvp. The reapers mark flag IS.
It is "more focused" on pvp. NOT ALL AND ONLY PVP.
I'd even venture to say that the sweaty player that chases and schemes to catch said reaper might be "the worst type of player in the game".
@@tarzan12052 I agree
Got this in my reccomended, subbed! Awesome stuff, keep it up :)
Keep it up man you're great. c:
i dont know if we are a reaoers but if we see a ship coming toward us we never let them get away without a fight
running away sometimes is a way to fight, like you can do taht in order to repair or to change your position into better one.
I understand this and all, but sometimes I decide to solo reaper sloop because I’m tryna get max rep, so naturally I gotta run most of the time
Every time a reaper runs I usually just chase them to the Red Sea.
I miss the old sea of thieves, can't join an open crew without hearing your own crew burning down the ship
had no clue you existed, now you just got your 800th follower!
Thank you for the support!
I remember that one time where we literally had 0 planks, 0 cannonballs and a few bananas and we were forced to b line to the Reaper Hideout and sell all. It wasn't an act of cowardice, it was the same ship coming again and again for the 5th time and we were literally unable to fight
I legit thought that Xbox logo-looking figurehead was edited in at 5:41 lol
literally just had a reaper last night (grade 5) run from me my crew and hide in the red sea via shores of gold. we waited them out and they eventually ragequit and let their loot sink rather then fight us -_-
we were grade 2 Reapers and i guess our glowing Reaper cosmetics scared them? lol
I try to avoid reapers if I can help it. I'm not afraid of PvP, but I'm not out looking for it. I want to make the moneys.
Also, your video's are very high quality. I'd say you're well on your way to 100k subs and beyond. Keep it up.
Just got this in my recommended and wow this was fun to watch. A really well done video and commentary! Subscribed.
the only running reaper I'm fine with is a sloop v galleon, I mean with brig you have a chance, especially with 2 players, but gally is hard to see, they can have 1 man repair, 2 on cannons, and 1 steer, while you have 1 cannon and 1 steer/repair guy
My friend likes to run the reapers mark as a troll and hates being sunk and it's so annoying playing when he just runs reapers mark
damn bro you're underrated af the quality is absolutely top-notch keep up the good work man
Thank you so much! New tales every week, and stream clips in between!
nothing faster in the sea of thieves than reaper edgelords running from something even resembling a fair fight
I don't mind running as a reaper as long as I'm luring a ship into a bad spot like a ghost fleet which will help me sink them. I call it the Han Solo maneuver.
First video by you that I ever watched and I'm already hooked, this is fantastic!
Bro you are underrated as hell I was so shocked when I looked at your sub count I expected 30K+
reminds me of when we were doing an ashen wind a reaper come to sink are brig i finish the event my teammate just go in circles round the island.
Theres a slight delay between switching guns and being able to fire again.
you forgot about the "legendary sea dog" title users who try to convince you they won after getting sunk
the day i see a welyn and and exodus crossover video, i'll be happy
How do you get the talking emote
In My Experience "Reaping" Brigs seem to be the most effective rather than galleons
Just today I had 3 reaper ships bigger than my crew run into the Red Sea or dump loot while we chased them just so no one could have it ….. it’s straight up sad
Honestly I’m planning on being part of the reaper I am really bad at pvp but knowing that every other reaper will attack u is good practice
True reaper spirit!
Super underrated.... Amazing content man
Man i got a tearable teammate because he done kept not repairing the boat. Shot fireworks at the enime. Caused the anker to fall and made up hit a rock. Against a skeleton ship. A skeleton SHIP.
That RIGGING BALL WAS CLUTCH AF😌😳
