Gave $400 for my round nose 1998 S-10 , came with a blown up 4 cylinder and automatic trans , i then pulled a 350 V-8 with a Turbo 350 trans out of my 1978 Square body Silverado, traded for some new S-10 headers , brought the Motor mount kit , i had to weld them myself but they was only $30 bucks , got the frame engine mounts off my 83 S-10 , the oil and Tach gages are out of the Silverado , new front and rear Universal joints in the drive shaft , another $40 bucks , $25 bucks for spray paint in the engine bay and Frame .
I'm not even at $500 total yet .
But the Truck does need a front WindShield , and all 4 tires ,
I do like those Camaro rims you have , but I'm going with old time aluminum slots since I already have them . I think after it's all said and done maybe 1 grand or less ,
And the Silverado is getting a 1975 engine 250 straight 6 cylinder for the time being .

@@jimthomas1989 thats awesome man, it can definitely be done. Yeah it takes some "know how" but at the end of it you can say, you built it. I'm probably going to be taking the Z28 wheels off of it soon partially due to the fact that I'm getting ready to put a 8.8 rear from a explorer in it. I'm not crazy about the idea of having two different lug patterns but I do know someone that has a set of multi lug jegstars so I may go that route.

      @@banes1979 ,
The S-10 has a heavy duty 8.5 Rear End ,
It was in 1995 and newer with the
      H.O. 4.3 V6 (L35 option ) and 5 speed trans
But how can you tell the difference between the 7- 5/8 and the 8.5 Rear End ?
The 8.5 has tapered Axle Tubes coming out of the differential ring and pinion gear (Pumpkin) housing .
The ZR2 also has this 8.5 heavy duty Rear end .
And you keep the same bolt pattern for your Rims and no need for a different drive shaft to fit a Chevy trans and a Ford Rear .
But if you want a Ford Rear , just add another $1000 dollars to your $2000 build total .
The 7-1/2 and the 7- 5/8 Rear end both have straight axle tubes , so if you see a Tapered Axle tube it's an 8.5
      I got 6 S-10 Trucks
      4- OBS Trucks
      3 - 66 Chevelle
      2 - Nova
      2- Camaro
      2 -1967 Trucks
      1- 1968 Truck
      1- 1978 Truck

@@jimthomas1989 I can get a explorer 8.8 for about $100 bucks from someone I know. I do appreciate the info on the newer model S10 diffs I didn't know that. I knew that the Zr2 blazers had a factory 3.73 limited slip but they are far and few between in my area. I'm considering for the time being running this 7.5 which has a 3.42 gear and just putting a spool in it

      I got a 96 S- 10 4X4 ,
It has the 8.5 from the factory with Tappered Tube Axle
      It is NOT a ZR2
      Just a Regular S-10 4X4
So anything 95 and newer with the 4.3 V-6 could possibly have the 8.5
I don't have to worry about it , I seriously doubt it makes 200hp .
      Just a 2 bolt main , bored 10 over with a 4 barrel , small Cam and headers ,
But , that's what I got to work with and it's cheap , actually my cheapest build ever .
And I'm about 400 or 500 miles from Virginia so I can't help you other than Advice , but there is Thousands of S-10s here in case you need parts .
Don't you need to cut that Ford Rear End Axle Tubes and shorten the Axles to make it fit ?
Then cut the spring perches off and then Weld the S-10 spring Perches on ?
Then change Universal joints and get the drive Shaft lengthen or shorten ?
And what about the emergency brake cables ?
Even if someone gave it to you for free , that's a lot of work for an 8.5 to just a 8.8
That's like 1/8 of an inch bigger ring gear than a 8.5 ring gear

@@jimthomas1989 yeah I had no idea thats what they had in them in those years. Actually now that I'm thinking about it I do know where a blown up 96 s10 ss is. If I'm not mistaken it has a limited slip 3.42 ratio rear from the factory

@jbslittleshop2897 oh gotcha that's cool that a bit of a haul from here in VA lol but if I can get this channel off the ground a little bit I'd make trip. My ol' tow vehicle is pushing close to 350k miles on it and that 5.4 2 valve is getting tired

What did you do for a drive shaft?

    • @banes1979
      @banes1979  18 дней назад +1

I found a driveshaft that had a slip yoke on it and cut about 6in off of it and had to buy two combination u-joints.
