  • In this video I show the difference in sound between factory exhaust manifolds and a factory cat deleted 2.5” Y pipe vs the 1 7/8” long tube headers with the 3” off-road Y pipe. The headers definitely mellowed out the sound and made it less “clappy”, also helped lower the pitch of the exhaust compared to the long tubes. In terms of power the difference between the manifolds and headers was night and day, lots more mid range power and a lot more pull above 4,500 rpm, y’all stay tuned, more to come

The cross over pipe is rusted on my Silverado, so I’m going to install headers and a new cross over pipe, thanks for the inspiration

I used black duct tape to hold my light in. From 20 feet away it looks like stock trim.

I like the rolling start honk! 😂. Getting JBA shorties put on my Titan. 5.6, but gonna sound sexy! #idaho, too

Definitely a more defined performance sound, do you have a burble tune? It sounds alot more clappy than my 4.8

I call it a “flamethrower” tune, the tune was done by Brian at Doughty Racing Engines back in Texas and he made it do it only above 3600 rpm and only if you tap the gas it’ll shoot flames. I think he said something about late timing and lots of fuel (don’t quote me on that) but I don’t do HPTuners so I wouldn’t know. But it is tuned yes.

This is simular to your 4.8 but has a longer stroke crankshaft so I'm assuming this will make a slightly different exhaust note alone not mention he said he has a custom tune

Not sure if you still have your 94 OBS but did you use the stock in-tank TBI pump for the carb with a regulator or is it a aftermarket inline pump

I still got it! It ain’t going nowhere, just too much snow on the ground to make videos with it. I used the factory tbi in tank pump, that’s what the fuel pressure regulator on the fender is for, to dial back the fuel pressure from 14 psi to about 5.5 psi

@@_chevy_stepside Oh wow it looks hella clean I don’t have a OBS but I have a 89 Z28 basically the same engine fuel pump and everything just in a coupe hatchback. I love your OBS though used to drive one but it was a 91 Sierra with a 5.3. Keep up the good work 👍

Did you have to deal a Egr Valve delete for the long tube headers install?

    • @_chevy_stepside

No sir I didn’t, on the 03+ trucks there’s no egr valve

Its best to delete your egr either ways. Im gonna delete mine soon because it just makes your intake temps higher

What I did is a catless factory Y pipe, 3” from the Y pipe back with a magnaflow magnapack and then out the back into the 4” dual angle cut tips
