Slickdraw won't make any difference if you are aiming perfectly, because all AA does is move your center pellet onto the center mass. The surrounding bullets have a fixed pattern. However, Slickdraw is much less forgiving for aiming off-target. At 5m away w/ Enhanced Slickdraw, you need to aim roughly 3 inches closer to the opponent's torso to get OHK, compared to non-Slickdraw. Also, you'll find that this is only true when ADSing. When hip-firing, the AA is so poor to begin with that the difference between Slickdraw and non-Slickdraw is negligible.

As someone who has tried out a couple Compass Rose rolls with similar mags and barrels with high range, I found that Threat Detector + Snapshot was my preferred roll. I played with Threat Detector / Slickdraw + Opening Shot, but I either found Threat Detector alone was not to give me a quick enough swap to ADS or Slickdraw was far too quick for me to line up my shot. A high range with TD + Snapshot with Full Choke (the one that tightens the spread) was a weird middle-ground where I found my sweet spot. Honestly, my favorite benefit of Slickdraw on a shotgun is how the aiming reticle is more precise and it's easier to line up my shots on my PVE roll with Slickdraw + Trench Barrel / Incandescent.

More testing done here than anywhere else I seen. 1. Seems there is some evidence to suggest AA matters on shotguns, at least while aiming, even on non-slugs. 2. How do people measure actions in frames? Is there a way to count them ingame?
@markallen4282 I just recorded myself switching between the guns, then but the records into an edit software. You can very easily see every frame with that. so then you just count how many there are.
I firmly believe that, although its harder to get, retold tale will always be the better option. 92 range with quickdraw and snapshot is just nuts. But i understand that people like opening shot and enhanced perks.
Well I guess my Compass Rose is going into the vault then, I'll dust off the Matador. The consistency for a non slickdraw roll seems like a huge upside based on this test. And Matador has superior stats to CR for a TD/OS roll. 63 handling compared to 55 for CR.
What I've noticed about players who've said that they don't like slickdraw tend to be players who go for deep OHKs on full health players. While other players who do like it, tend to use it as a cleanup tool. I find myself in the latter pool since it helps increase my kill rate for all shotguns. Even in the tests showed, you yourself left the test dummy one shot for every case the gun didn't kill on it's own Clearly, slickdraw does indeed highlight the value of aim assist on shotguns and how it can impact the consistency and feel for players who want to achieve deep OHKs, but with other players, its beet in slot for swap cleanups. At the end of the day, to each their own, but I'm already 500 kills deep and this thing hasn't let me down yet so I think I'll keep using it
I think you’re right. one of my favorite parts of running sg is pushing the range as far as I can for absurd OHKs and compass rose just doesn’t do that for me
@@topoftheleaderboard yep which is why you need consistent shotguns like Someday and Matador. Aim assist determines bullet bending which has always affected the consistency of any weapon. it’s best to always run a targeting/dex mod when you can, as these mods provide a handling scalar. for example, a compass rose with slickdraw(100 handling) has a .22 seconds ads speed. when you add a targeting mod the ads speed drops to 0.16 seconds. not a huge difference but it’s still helpful
Maybe people think slickdraw is goodif they are on controller since I imagine it’s easier to hit centre mass and slickdraw has no effect on reticle friction. On mnk it seems obvious to me that slickdraw is way worse than my threat detector roll
@@daythemilfslayer do a side by side comparison in D2 foundry. Matador has 3 more range and 8 more handling in its base stats. But I’ve been loving slickdraw myself. I was mostly just making a joke.

Sorry but this is your experience, not mine. Matador always let me down cause I am a primmary challengue guy and at 58 handling with TD, cant count the amount of times the gun couldnt swap out fast enough. Specially against CF 95 handling (nowadays 80). I want to wins 1v1, not 2v1 ykwIm? This is not the case for Slickdraw. A perfect 5/5 can have 100 range which is 10 points more than Matador. My 5/5 Matador whifles a lot, so that is not the issue. A perfect Compass Rose with Nadir focus, target adj, and so, sits at 91 AA. The gun drops to 41 AA probably although spagueti code divides 3 instances AA, afecting centre pellet spread. If I have to chose between having 41 AA (same as mindbenders) or low Matador handling, I chose Slickdraw. The amount of times homies freaked out cause they cant compete against 100 handling from slickdraw, you should hear their voices raging. Is the perfect defensive tool, maping at distances my Matador never did. Console vs PC might be a thing for this gun. Edit: never did doubles or triple kills like with this gun, if I have 2 or 3 shots in store, it is over, you have slickdraw to counter me or you are basically dead
How come everyone is so bent on threat detector anyway. I got 2 god roll matadors one with threat opening one with perpetual opening and I prefer the perpetual one. Free 20 handling for the whole game puts it at like 78 what else do you need. Not like extra handling going to do much if 2 or more enemies around to keep me alive anyways.
TD will always be active at shotty range and give more handling + animation speed compared to perpetual motion, thats it. You can settle for perpetual, but if you have TD why use one that doesnt improve the animation speed outside of handling?
@@Kahyos just prefer the constant uptime and shotgun not changing. Even when I’m just running around with it it keeps the same feel I prefer that. Plus 80 handling like you don’t need anymore anyway

What happened here is a bunch of people changed "Slickdraw is good for certain builds" which is, yep, into "Slickdraw > Threat detector!" which is inaccurate. The way I see it, if im running stompees or something and I need that bump in handling, and I use Shotties at ape distance anyway defensively or offensively, I run my Slickdraw. But If I'm already running some kind of Handling like Spirit of/Ophidians, Thread of Ascent, whatever, then I don't need Slick and I'll just run my Threat Opening. all that said, Slick isn't bad. that's just inaccurate. The thing is threat detector only gives 25 at one stack and most rolls have really bad handling,my roll has 82 range snap slickdraw with either full choke or rifled barrel the only thing missing is the masterwork 😭😭😭😭 I don't like opening shot because if you have the max which is 94 range it's only a 10 cm difference between that and 100
It's possible Barrel length still affects weapons. I think when they fixed Chaperone's Panama Ravine ornament, they only fixed that single instance and and not Barrel length affecting guns as a whole but I could easily be wrong about that.

Someday is in the kinetic slot😂u need a shorty for the energy slot too, u should definitely grind bonfire before it’s gon
@@daythemilfslayer lmao I should but since the game refuses to give me a god roll rose I been running a godroll Slide/PI lunas and coped myself into thinking I’ll never use a kinetic HC again. You right tho 😮💨 but what if I wanna get it and get hoed and gotta wait a year now
More testing done here than anywhere else I seen.
Nah u need at least 93 range to one shot at 7m
Just got my godroll after hours of farming and this pops up 💀
After trying a 5/5 slickdraw for 300 kills, I am back to my 5/5 retold. It draws just as fast without sacrificing consistency. Mnk
what’s your roll on retold?
Wait, you can get double perks? Must be after you finish the armor sets, I assume.
@LivingTheorem Yeah after completing the armor. Any weapon you get from the bounties will have double perks
Even in the tests showed, you yourself left the test dummy one shot for every case the gun didn't kill on it's own
Clearly, slickdraw does indeed highlight the value of aim assist on shotguns and how it can impact the consistency and feel for players who want to achieve deep OHKs, but with other players, its beet in slot for swap cleanups.
Opening Shot is helpful for that exact reason. It's also why aggressive frames have fallen out of favor. They lack aim assist, range, AND handling so you have to pick 2 and drop one (with the only exception being Conditional Finality due to applying lethal status effects). If you don't have these things, you're just looking at a shotgun that can't win fights
I would imagine that controller players will enjoy slickdtaw more than mnk players. Due to stickyness of roller quickly aiming accurately is a lot easier than on mnk. I felt no difference from TD when on controller, after playing 10 min with slickdraw on mnk i deleted my roll directly and using threath detector ever since
Unless i get a good shotgun from the dreaming city then im still gonna use my compass rose
Doesnt that inconsistency coming from gun itself? Wallah was talking about that last year and this year too.
Me tho, Im a goober😂 I have threat detector and opening shot and its FUEGO 🔥🔥 if i get slickdraw god roll, i embrace it, my body is ready.
4 bows, 5 armour pieces and maybe a shotty every 3rd run. Guardians who split up and dunk 1 of 3 lighters. Solstice is quickly killing my will to play.
Iam not finding slick draw that great compared to threat detector. Deleted 2 slickdraws (4/5 and what I thought was a 5/5) compass roses 3 days back because I wasent feeling them as good as my 3/5(smoothbore/light mag/threat detector/snap shot) rose. Haven't had a threat detector /open shot and settled with slickdraw /open shot because I thought no more solstice grind, fcuk I've another week of it now. Also like to share iam on controller... "👍"...
It's decent. Just gotta aim better. The trade off is best handling for having to be SLIGHTLY more accurate
Gameplay also shows your aim isn't the best. Not being mean but YOURE finding it harder to use BC it's user error. Personal opinion
Iv been using a targeting mod on my slickdraw roll, still not as consistent as I’d like but it did help me a little.
it’s best to always run a targeting/dex mod when you can, as these mods provide a handling scalar. for example, a compass rose with slickdraw(100 handling) has a .22 seconds ads speed. when you add a targeting mod the ads speed drops to 0.16 seconds. not a huge difference but it’s still helpful

Athrys Embrace gang rise up! 🔪
Maybe people think slickdraw is goodif they are on controller since I imagine it’s easier to hit centre mass and slickdraw has no effect on reticle friction. On mnk it seems obvious to me that slickdraw is way worse than my threat detector roll
This gun whiffs a lot in general.
I knew people were wrong about slickdraw on this thing, thanks for the confirmation.
If you switch to light mag you can get 100 range
You have to ask yourself if you lose more engagements to your shotgun whiffing vs not getting it out in time. The answer to that question is matador.
Compass is better
@@daythemilfslayer do a side by side comparison in D2 foundry. Matador has 3 more range and 8 more handling in its base stats. But I’ve been loving slickdraw myself. I was mostly just making a joke.
Knew it from the start. It’s statistically less consistent. I’m good
is that why I was like "WHAT is EVERYONE talking about?!" and "Maybe the aim assist cone that you lose from Slickdraw DOES matter" when I was able to get perfectly consistent kills with Threat Detector/Opening Shot whenever I heard complaints of how garbage and inconsistent the shotgun was by people who had Slickdraw/Opening Shot?!
Stop yappin
@@daythemilfslayer cry
A 58 handling matador with threat detector x1 draws faster than conditional does
@@A_Block_of_Cheese you are forgetting dex and target mods
@@yermo-2820 mods work on both...
I haven't gotten either roll yet. Not even a 2 of 5 yet.
hi Daltnix we all say in unison
@@scottparrott5674 Like I said, you can ooze out more frames with TD due to the animation boost, for some people that matters. Not saying you need it, destiny aint a competitive game anyways, just giving reasons why Perp was always a second choice for shotties. There were cases where I would lose perp motion cause I had to hug a corner and it may cost the match.
@@Kahyos Yeah I’m not saying threat is bad anyway it’s s tier. I just think p motion is too and extremely underrated and actually prefer it. Apples to oranges tho whateve.
He’s not wrong…

Good thing I got one with both haha and a handling MW
i have threat roll i really want slickdraw roll tbh
Realest video ever
But a thumb like that will get engagement, so that's fair.
My goat.
its the barrel, chg to shroud...
You mean change it to Full Choke.
Did I miss something, how do you have double perks in the first perk column?
as it turns out, nothing good came from solstice

I don't like opening shot because if you have the max which is 94 range it's only a 10 cm difference between that and 100
41 frames at 60fps?
Am I the only one that thinks Compass Rose is very inconsistent? My Someday feels WAY better than my godroll Compass.
It’s super inconsistent, I don’t think Slickdraw is the issue.
It's possible Barrel length still affects weapons. I think when they fixed Chaperone's Panama Ravine ornament, they only fixed that single instance and and not Barrel length affecting guns as a whole but I could easily be wrong about that.

Slickdraw on shotguns is amazing, not so much on anything else
One minute 4 views bro... what happened...😢

💀💀💀💀
Slickdraw isn’t the issue, the compass rose is inconsistent no matter what roll
I hate the inconsistencies that TD has, so I'll be sticking with Slickdraw
Full choke helps a ton
lol um, I don’t think that perk does anything anymore. It’s like Full auto.
@@bannedmann4469 anecdotally I feel the shotgun has wayyy more consistency with full choke. Could just be me tho
@@brucemarshall5681it’s a placebo. Full choke makes no difference on one hit kill range and only slightly helps with clean ups. For better one hit kill go for range.
Watch MAVENS video on full choke. It still makes a difference in consistent kills with a shotgun. All you have to do is shot a wall and you will notice a huge difference in the spread being tighter. I have the true Rose God roll with Full Choke and slickdraw and opening shot with accurized rounds. Its consistent.
The aim assist doesn't make a difference at all, I will agree with you that slick draw is bad on anything other than A shotgun(slugs suck with it). However on a normal shotgun, It's probably the best perk in destiny history that we've ever had, It's pre nerf quick draw, with snapshot, with even faster stow speed. It's literally goated.
