- The iconic Tiger Woods made his first Open Championship appearance in 1995 as an exciting prospect. Fast forward to The Open in 1997, the American had turned pro and was the newly crowned Masters champion.
So the 126th Open was Tiger's first as a professional golfer. This meant that the eyes of the world were expectantly watching to see what he would do and if he'd be able to conquer Royal Troon.
The then 21-year-old, finished the 1997 Open tied for 27th place, a disappointing result in comparison to his future successes, but the tournament was not completely negative for Woods.
After making the cut, he played a great third round of 66, which catapulted him into the top 10 going into the final day.
We've dug through The Open archives to bring you every televised shot from this fantastic round.

When did you first watch Tiger Woods play golf?
The year 2000. The famous year, the unforgettable year. His first grand slam.
Saw him in person as an amateur at the 1996 Masters tournament. Watched him on tv in the us amateur before that.
@@lead-dog That must have been very special.
Not until way late as I only got into golf at the late age of 34, so somewhere around 2014.

Love the old footage. Keep it coming!
It's great to see the early moments of Tiger's career
Finally some 1997 Tiger highlights from other Tournaments where he didn’t win for once!
Incredible.

troon ‘97, shot a 64 in the 3rd rd
I love his reaction after making that final par putt. The dude just wanted it so bad, his entire run.
0:35 when a plan comes together
Tiggy was clearly better than most.
Why no scores?
