I liked the look of Gman in 2 a little bit more than now, but the graphics are so much better, it compensates. The reveal trailer made him look weird for Alyx, at least to me, but he looks a lot like the version from 2, so I can't complain.

No those aren't Grunts. Combine Grunts have a fuel-tank on their back and attached on their backpack, but the Combine you see are just the model update to the Combine Soldier, and the one in the back is the Combine Commander, which is possibly the model update to the Combine Elite.
scoob dude Combine commanders bear a sigil that’s unique to them - they don’t have the elite or regular marking. Heavys, grunts and suppressors have the regular markings, suggesting they’re on the level of a regular soldier, but act as specialists.
I love the continuity and attention to detail with the Combine healers, what with how the original game has this spinning component and soldiers occasionally drop tubes of green fluid and some creature in them. It all makes sense now.

@engineer with the drip Metropolice are non-augmented. Combine is when they start trading in their memory or something and become part machine. (There's a vid about this) Not to mention, in HL2, they became their own faction, separate from the Combine. So not really.

1 gman was just confusing, 2 gman's meat suit didnt look human enough, alyx gman moved like a far more powerful creature stuck in a human body, spoke like he had a grasp on our vocal systems but not quite, and had the perfect mannerisms to sell it all. Alyx's gman scene is my favorite by far.

@engineer with the drip Metropolice are non-augmented. Combine is when they start trading in their memory or something and become part machine. (There's a vid about this)
Not to mention, in HL2, they became their own faction, separate from the Combine. So not really.

in my opinion alyx shouldn`t be able to regenerate her health after poision headcrab attacks. she isn`t wearing a super duper hazmat suit to give her antidote.

We are talking about a difference of 22 years between 1998-2020. Half life 1 shows pixels of graphics, but half life 2 has no pixels.

1 gman was just confusing, 2 gman's meat suit didnt look human enough, alyx gman moved like a far more powerful creature stuck in a human body, spoke like he had a grasp on our vocal systems but not quite, and had the perfect mannerisms to sell it all. Alyx's gman scene is my favorite by far.
