No wonder you got 272 in step 2 . Your advice is really practical and clearly you’re speaking from a lot of experience and probably some failures
“Just because you can go 12 hours a day doesn’t mean you should”
Needed to hear that. 😪
Great video!
Saying" she " to the "mind" ❤😍
cuz it's a feminine word in Spanish "La mente"
AWESOME ADVICE!! Those 25 min Pomodoro never works for me. When there's a break, i felt being interrupted. And if I do take a break, it's hard to start again. Could you also do a motivational video of how to maintain a healthy life during long test prep? Like i know I need to work out, but I always don't have the motivation for it. But med school really has been given me back pain
Sure Cherrie added the idea for a future video!
When I find I lack motivation to workout, I just start doing it anyways. Usually within a few minutes I start to get motivated and that further increases the intensity of my workout and the quality. Same thing with doing questions and studying. If I just basically slap myself in the face or jump in whether I feel like it or not, within a few minutes, I usually feel like I’m focused in. Caught myself trying to always rely on motivation or feel like doing the work to actually do it, and do it at a high level. Once, I made the decision to dig in, I realized that laziness I felt was just temporary more often than not, and if I just moved or did what I needed to do, the momentum would start to build.
I wish i could do this😭 i have to cook for the family, clean, chores etc and then only sit down to study omg i want more hours in a day it too tiring😢
Thanks for making this video! It's so helpful and honest. I've been struggling with studying longer hours, definitely going to try the flow method.
Thanks for this!! I always feel guilty doing things I enjoy when studying for step, everyone else around me seems to be studying 10+ hours but I know I need to give my brain a break. Always more productive and scoring better on questions after that!
That”oh man iam so ready”is so funny😂ur content is always good ,it works for me and that little quirk u r adding is so refreshing.thank you for being a good mentor for me.hope u hustle hard !
Thank you for your help in this journey! We all appreciate your effort! 🇨🇺
So many people always recommend the Pomodoro technique but I really like your take on it. I second what you said about changing your setting to keep focused. Some really excellent points!
Thanks for this amazing video, finally someone is speaking with complete honesty. As someone might watch how others study and feel crap. Thanks Doctor and hope to see more of ur amazing videos.
Thankyou! It definitely helped. Best of luck for your future

U gave me clarity on study approaches and guiding me in a nice way.
Thank u bcoz u are my life-changer.
Finally find someone, can get into my head ,,thanks
Awesome video! I would like that you publicate one about how to use the QBanks properly, to take full advantage of them. Thank you.

Thank u for this !
You are an amazing med school influencer! I’m an M2 who has learned a lot from you along the way. Keep up the great work!

Thank you
His videos are my motivational videos !
Saludos 👍👍👍👍
well that was something practical advise
Saludos Santiago.
Amazing Recommendations! Thanks for helping us! Sometimes it is great to hear everything in English, but on the other hand, you want to hear your mother tongue! Even so, it is necessary to change our chip! Yay, if we want to study in another country things as small as these make a difference in our language skills that will allow us a better development in our life. Great job Santiago! 2022 Match here I go!!!! :)
Agreed! Thanks Nina and good luck on your Match, hope you get your 1st choice!
a lot of text
Awesome tips, Santiago! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Excelent video bro 🙌🏻
Thanks man 👌🏻
Can’t relate more with lying down like that with the laptop and studying 😂
Nice video
i hope these tips would help me in the long study journey ahead that is waiting for me .......i am just at the start of my medical studies .
Thanks
your videos motivate me a lot! thank u doc! postscript: do you recommend studying with music?
Glad to hear it! For me, it really depends on the type of music. I do use “concentration” music every now and then and it helps. But anything with lyrics just makes me wanna sing along, and let’s just say that’s not ideal for performance 😂
Awesome man. Thank you for that video.
I am Neurosurgeon in Colombia. I am trying to do a fellowship in USA. I got the Amboss and i am studying like you advised . I feel optimistic. I work al least 8 hours daily. So i study 4 hours from 4:30 to 8:30. It is challenging. But i am persistent. Thank you
That hard work will pay off! Keep it up man 💪🏻
Mr. Juan you seem to be a smart person . Good luck in your medical journey.
I'm a high school student from Iraq and one day I will be a neurosurgeon god willing.
Could you also share your daily studying routine when you have the time, please, would be great to watch. Thanks!
good video, is there a spanish version of this?
You are a Gift from GOD!!!!! Thank you.
hahaha... i was pooping and watching your video and suddenly out of nowhere a towel comes on your face.... i laughed so hard that my poop went upwards... thankx for ruining my pooping.............
what do you think of ECFMG pathways to replace CS exam? which is easiest? I'm not licensed in my country
What do you think about doing 2 blocks of study with lunch break in between then a work out, diner and then go back to study for 2 hours more? 😅 you know that I found out that my focus time is not in the morning according to my chronotype; I am a wolf. What do you think about that subject? It states that there is a best time to do certain things along the day. I would like to know your opinion about this.
Bro if the flow works, I owe you
Okay!!! the motivational videos definitely works and if you need to study for 12 hours everyday, the laptop on bed also works . 😂
Have you read Cal Newport' book "Deep Work" or about his ideas? If you have, how do you think it applies to medicos preparing for exams such as USMLE which is a very unique situation.
Indeed. Flow state > Pomodoro.
2:35 describes everything...
everything
i took my first NBME today. and I failed in it. now I am not taking my exam until July this year & i took my test after only 1 read of first aid , so I am feeling a bit dejected right now. and having numerous negative thoughts. i don’t know how to look at this. i thought I would have at least passed.
Omg this video is the most relatable thing in the world. Only if I had watched this earlier 🙁
The beauty of this video is that
1) obviously you learn new ways of studying but
2) even if you already knew a way, there's great relief in its validation/ optimization.
Thanks man!
Nice
For me continuing is the hard part. Wat do I do?
The 'MOST REALISTIC'!!!!!!!!!!!!
So what if we have to work between the hour of studing? My mind can't focus after because I am worry about work :(
This is a stupid question just curiosity why do you use 2 laptops? I notice you got a macbook and an acer is there any specific workflow?
eres demasiadooooo
Lying on the couch with my iphone helps my back a lot, as it doesn’t get strained.
watched your video for the first time. did you study medicine in the US?
How do you get 12 hours of uninterrupted time while in medical school? :/
Seria ideal
como diablos sacaste 272 mierquina men felicidades!!
❤❤
8hr long exam😮 compared to that the tests in Netherlands are nothing
Amazing ....make a video on how you prepared for step 2ck
Coming up ✅
thank you ❤️
