    Most home improvements stores will carry racks a lot like this. Lowes I know for certain carries them in a wide assortment of sizes. A lot of them will also have the NSF (National Science Foundation) mark which indicates they have been independently evaluated by a third party for quality and safety.

    Thanks for this video! Have often wanted to get a rack for some of my nano tanks, but don't have a lot of space for a big bulky rack. This would be perfect. A tip for anywhere you put a tank (rack, desk, counter, etc) is to put a wooden cutting board under the tank - the kind that has a trough running around the edge to prevent liquids from spilling off the edge. The wood absorbs splashes of water so you don't have to mop up every drop, and if you have an spill over while working in the tank, the trough gives you time to reach for a towel before the water goes over the edge... :) A family member found some for me that were seconds, so they were dirt cheap... and they work great...!!!

      Do the shelves bow under your tanks?
      I tried a 48x72x18 for my 30 and 40 gallon tanks. The shelves bowed. I put a 1/2” plywood support board underneath, still bowed. I used 3 1/2” support boards, still bowed leaving a gap between the board and the tank.

      @@kiranaric I believe that the rack systems in restaurants are way more sturdy. I have the 5 shelf units like the 4 shelves here, and any restaurant I've ever worked at, their shelving is heavier, sturdier then these, by a long shot. If I could ever get a hold of some of the restaurant ones, I'd use them on heavier tanks like the poster mentioned. Deffinately not on these in the video though!

      @kiranaric Год назад +1

      @@lizzyanthus1 Hey thanks for the reply. I'd purchased that rack they showed in the video the very next week and it's really sturdy so far - been nearly a year. I have had three tanks on it at one point of time and it didn't bend or give away or anything. The largest I have is a 28gal but I use a deep substrate system so the tanks get pretty heavy. But your idea of restaurant rack systems is very appealing for me. I will look at them the next time I need another unit.

    I have 5 of the 5 shelf units of this. I bought them on sale, from a big box store, for like $39. dollars each, for extra canned/boxed food storage. I'm wondering is the 5 shelf unit would be too big to use for tanks? As in, too tall to be stable, tipping over danger? Of course I wouldn't put tanks on the top shelves, but maybe some nice vining plants, or decorations. I see that right now, 7-27-23, this 4 shelf unit is $70. I can wait for a sale though. :)

    I've been looking into this because I got the same shelf from Walmart, put it together, then saw someone made a video where they've had issue with tanks falling off of this rack and now I'm afraid to use it, lol.
    I WAS going to put a rimmed 20g long on the lowest shelf and debated another 20g Long for the middle shelf, but that might be overkill. I don't want anything on the highest shelf/above my head.
    I have 3 x 5g's, 1 x 10g, 1 x 20g long, 4 x 2.5g's and a weird half hexagon 6.5g.
    I'm not worried about putting the 6.5g on that shelf. I have nine bettas and I was going to divide the 20g long 4 ways to provide 5g's a piece which would leave me with five other betta.
    If it wasn't overkill, it'd be nice to do a second 20g Long the same way and have eight betta on the one stand. I may end up just doing one divided 10g, two 5g or 3-4 2.5g's if they can fit.
    The 2.5g's aren't ideal, but they'll be okay until I get more/better shelving. They were originally got as small quarantine tanks. I'd prefer at least 5g a piece if not more.

I wouldn't personally do anything larger than the 29 gallon, and I should also say that I don't use much substrate in my tanks and the decorations are mostly driftwood and plants, so everything is quite light. For larger tanks, I also build my own racks from dimensional lumber.

    happy Monday to my two favorite people! 😁♥️Nice.. I'm actually looking for a rack for this 33 gallon.. you have this one looking really nice for your nano wall.. does the link for this shelf link to other available bigger options?. With all this going on I haven't even had a chance to look for a rack yet.... But I really need to start this project.. I think it will be good for me.. I don't believe we're going to have time to build anyting right now .I would like it if I could find a shelf/ rack that it could sit it on top of that's low enough that I can enjoy looking down on it tooI right now all I have is an old dresser but I need more storage space like a rack could provide ...thank you in advance for any help. I hope you all have a very happy Monday!! The nano wall looks so beautiful!! Love you guys I hope you all have a blessed day!👍♥️🌿🐟🌱🙏

    Hoping they could hold up a 3'x1'x'1 (about 50 gallons). A quick calculation shows that the water alone should weigh about 90kg, the tank itself around 5-6kg or so. The one I'm getting is rated at 400kg per level. Do you think it's safe or should I just get a real stand instead?

Trying to find something inexpensive/sturdy that will hold one 20L, one 10 gallon, and one 5 gallon tank. They are all reptile tanks. The heaviest thing in each tank would be the water dishes and random climbing rocks in them. Thanks.

    I've not tried the painted one but the chrome is slick enough to lead to a disaster in the fish room. I had one to collapse and lost several species of dwarf chameleons. The enclosures were the small zoomed one's with the opening front so they basically weigh nothing.
