    Man the one thing that would push the volca sample to the next level would be sampling directly to the device. But it’s still so good as is!

    I love they way you make this seemingly simple instrument into a whole band. Great work and really informative videos. Bought your samples and can't wait to play. If I can get down how to turn this device into a synth - I will then see if I can make some ambient synth stuff on it. I have seen some amazing examples of ambient work on the Volca Sample- I wish I started with this Korg Volca first - the modular was not the best first choice! haha If you make an ambient Korg Volca sample video - I am all ears and eyes!

    Sounds awesome as always! Another advantage to the sample 1 is the pajen7 firmware….highly recommend!

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад +2

      I truly love and appreciate people like pajen working on custom firmware for free, but to be completely honest with you, I installed it and played around with it, and found myself almost not using it at all.
      the fact is that, to really really appreciate it, you mostly need an external midi controller, and the whole point of the sample 1 to me is its portability. so yeah. I don't particularly need it/use it almost ever.

    You can connect more than 2 two Patterns in Sample 2 by holding down the first One and then expanding it to your desired Number.

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад +2

      thank you! how about selecting the same pattern to run twice? I don't think it's possible, is it? Like, say that I want to have a song that goes pattern 1-1-2-2?

    • @Haymenameisbill
      @Haymenameisbill Год назад +2

      @@BIGUMAMI Yes, unfortunately that is apparently not possible. I hope that this will eventually be fixed in a Firmware Update. But at least you can create a 1-16 Bar Loop

    • @hbron112
      @hbron112 Год назад

      @@BIGUMAMI for instance a 12 bar blues song could be done using duplicate patterns for the parts and playing 1 through 12 for the song.

    • @ArigatoToMyHomies
      @ArigatoToMyHomies Год назад

      A way around this is to loop pattern 1, then loop pattern 2.

    • @truechristianity74
      @truechristianity74 Год назад

      You can do that copy that pattern to another track but II do see what you mean by on the first model you can set how many times you want a particular pattern to play

  • @ajdooom
    @ajdooom Год назад +1

    I also have both. Initially the 2 and then I bought the 1 so I could have polyrhythms going by shortening the active step on one of them. Kinda confused by the motion sequence recording you do - I've always pressed the record button to do that but it seems like you don't here. Also, I'm almost certain you can chain more than two steps on the VS2.

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад

      yes, you can, I just found it more convenient on the V1 using song mode! the motion sequence stuff is more like step locking, it's the same thing but instead of recording it live I change the values by locking them step by step - I find it more precise!

    • @grunntalll
      @grunntalll 11 месяцев назад

      i dont own a volca sample yet but cant you just use pajen firmware and a midi keybaord to play in the notes you want chromatically?@@BIGUMAMI

  • @ArigatoToMyHomies
    @ArigatoToMyHomies Год назад +2

    Ace information dude! Btw! The Volca Sample 2 allows 16 chains. Not only two. Top video'

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад +3

      yeah I kinda misspoke, what I meant to say is, song mode is more flexible, meaning that if you wanna chain, for example, pattern 1, then 3, then 9, then 9 again, you can. on the v2 you can only chain adjacent patterns!

  • @Haymenameisbill
    @Haymenameisbill Год назад +1

    Hi me again I also treated myself to the OG Volca Sample because what's better than a VS? Right, 2 VS's :D anyway, I have a little Trick that makes Motion sequencing a little easier. Go to Global Settings and turn on Full Tempo Range (step5). Then set the Tempo to 10 bpm. This makes it a little easier to record Motion.

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад

      yeah it's a great tip! but I still prefer doing it step by step with parameter locks!

  • @JonCiliberto

    I never saw how or if the v1 can motion capture note values in an assigned, not live played manner. All u did here, as far as I can tell, was to give a sample the same 'base value. ' ???

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад

      so basically, even if you want some notes to stay at the same original value, you have to treat them AS IF you were automating them too. and you can simply do that by repeating thestep automation on all notes.
      in the v2 you don't need to do this, but you do on the v1!

    I got my first used Volca Sample yesterday and played with it for several hours alongside a Volca FM I have had for a few months. There does not seem to be much to it, I need to get some more samples because they all sound the same. I'm wishing I'd bought another used Volca FM or any other Volca. It just seems like it is a sequencer with 10 drum sounds. Big deal. The sample control knobs barely do anything. Boring at this point. Really boring. I get more interesting drum sounds from a basic analog synth. I already have a drum machine.

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  11 месяцев назад

      I would strongly recommend sticking with it for a while and DEFINITELY put your own samples in it. that's the first thing I did as soon as I got my MKI back in the day. and also... motion sequence is literally where the magic happens - once you start using that feature, a whole new world opens up. or maybe you'll just end up not liking it anyway, and that's fine!

    • @martinez9905
      @martinez9905 11 месяцев назад

      I think if you already had a drummachine you just made a wrong call geetting the sample. Maybe they got the name wrong but its just a tiny drummachine. Im inloved with mine since i bought it for drum kit, sounds dope and loud
