    ENFP here.
    I totally agree with "Individuality" point. I don't like talking to a group I'd rather prefer to talk to an individual..just so that person can be comfortable and talk about their deepest feelings.

However, there is a subtle reward in making an area look neat, as on it brings a sense of calmness and completion. But I need a lit match under me to move me to take on the mundane. One thing I hated about my old school was that everyone used to gossip behind each other's backs. In my new school, I became extremely close with an ENFP and one of the things I love about them most is how they say something about a person that they don't like to me (or another friend) and then look them in the eye and say it to their face.

    • @em4704
      @em4704 2 года назад +54

      THIS! My acquaintances know I don't engage in gossiping, but when I do open my mouth, everyone is silent. It's like they waited for me to say something bad about someone. What only my (few close) friends know, is that if I do this, it's because I would say it to their faces as well. Even if it sounds quite bad. -ENFP

      I think I was in kindergarten at the time; I was one of three friends who would hang out in different pairings. One of these friends would typically engage in gossip about the other and talk shit about how they didn't like certain things about them. The next time I met up with the third friend, I told her what the first friend said. And I never forgot how she responded by saying something along the lines of - 'I don't like to talk about people when they're not around.' That really stuck with me.

    • @frisbeecouriers

      This is absolutely what I cannot stand. Those who say and act one way but when it comes down to it, are quiet and fake. Like what happened to all that big talk??? I would respect someone if they truly stood behind what they said. Posers and fake people need to GO. -ENFP

      I’m an ENFP and I will admit I’ve gossiped in the past but it doesn’t make me feel better. I feel better when I say something to someone’s face despite the consequences because why lie about it?

    • @heritage.home.crochet

      I'm screaming at this!! We value honesty so much. I will tell someone to their face if something about their character is lacking or they are offensive to others. I love that about us too, because people are so phony and they fear what people will think if you say bad things about them...well my view is that the truth is the truth, whether you say it to their face or not. I wouldn't say something about a person if I wasn't comfortable saying it to their face.

    As usual, all the ENFP stuff resonates with my INFP self in a low-key, quiet sort of way. Naturally, I too love authenticity, and I love exploring minds and souls, except I'm less likely to actively prod people and more likely to passively listen and observe, read people's written thoughts, and consume their art and self-expression. The same goes for how I share myself.
    One commenter said that Ni-doms are the only people who have opened up their inner worlds to them. I'll admit that it is usually difficult for people to gain entry into my inner world in person. Yet the inner worlds of INFPs are available in abundance in books, music, art, and throughout the internet. I have no problem sharing myself with the world in a diffuse sort of way, especially anonymously, but in more vulnerable, on-the-spot in-person contexts, reserve is my default state, and you'll only be able to get to know me if I've actively decided that I'm comfortable letting you in.
    It's similar with intellectual discourse, where I tend to feel more comfortable and competent in writing, and with time for reflection, than out loud or in real time. I've often found ENFPs to more readily say out loud what I'm thinking, and I've also often found ENFPs to deeply resonate with the written words of INFPs.

    • @em4704
      @em4704 2 года назад +2

      Hi! This was so well explained! My best friend is an INFP and this sounds a lot like her. In the first paragraph, you explained how our friendship kind of formed and got stronger. She's a very calm, patient and good listener. She made me comfortable while we conversed. Of course, I was doing the same for her. Letting her know that she's an amazing person and I love her raw authenticity. Always stands by what she says.
      I also noticed it's harder for INFPs to open their inner worlds to me, because they are more insecure about it. They could finally feel comfortable sharing with me, yet closing off again, because of their own inner thoughts (doubts, trust-issues, maybe feeling scared of rejection or being judged). I actually feel all these things when I'm with her. I can feel her emotion without her sharing them. It's kind of scary, ngl.
      I'm not an Fi-dom and I think my Te is really developing, so when I'm talking about certain topics, I can FEEL her becoming defensive, or maybe a bit hurt somehow and suspicious of what I'm saying. Personally, I don't put much feeling behind it, because I'm stating facts and her reaction to it actually made me realize that I can't talk to her openly about everything, without having to watch my words. With Ni-doms, I never felt like I had to be scared of what I'm about to say. I also find myself agreeing with a lot they say, which is why, personally, I'm able to share inner worlds with them.
      Yes!! the "ENFP puts my thoughts into words" haha. We're quite similar in a lot of ways. INFPs are my favorite type of people, actually. Your hearts are in the right places.

    That focus on individuals, the exploration of places, ideas and souls; and their love for the off-beat and spontaneous are a few of the reasons I as an INFJ really like ENFPs. To be fair, I haven't met one in person (I don't think), but I've seen videos by ENFP creators (LindaPinda, HeartofMichi and MaryVideos) that talk about the compatibility of INFJs and ENFPs, and I've liked what I've heard.
    As an INFJ I'm pretty good at dealing with and understanding a group, but I also Love one-on-one interactions and explorations of ideas. And Linda said in her video that INFJs understand everyone, but not everyone understands INFJs, but that ENFPs CAN understand INFJs. With them having Ne as their dominant function, ENFPs talk in the way that INFJs think (according to Linda and her anecdotes), and It's always amazing to me when someone can decipher that weird, disjointed, metaphor-ridden way I have of talking.
    Many people seem to get approximately what I mean - I'm still speaking human language after all - but when I'm opening the gate and giving my unfiltered thoughts, it's kinda rare to find someone who keeps up. (And vice-versa I've heard, we INFJs understand the "jumpy" way ENFPs talk).
    It can be really refreshing if an INFJ finds an ENFP who has similar interests, because they can go off into this Intuitive Dream Land Bubble together. I think it's important to remember that the types are quite different though, and that there's more to personality and relationships than your MBTI-type, but I think a relationship (friendship or otherwise) between an INFJ and ENFP can be really valuable for both parties involved. :)
    Edit: moved paragraphs to make it flow better

      "because they can go off into this Intuitive Dream Land Bubble together"
      As an ENFP I feel the need to say that this does not at all sound appealing to me. (But maybe other ENFPs see that differently? Would be great if others shared their views.)
      Nathan is absolutely right about ENFPs being happy with solely planning, but the intention for creating even the smallest plan is a possible realisation.
      Edit: my focus is directed to the real world. Real people, real ideas, real adventures, not to the clouds in the sky (even if I watched them regularly going by ;-) ).

      Fair enough, maybe "dream land" wasn't exactly the right word.
      I mostly meant that the connection between the Types can make it so that the rest of the world "falls away" and you become completely engrossed in the conversation, like a bubble.
      I think I said "dream land" to indicate that to someone listening in on the conversation, there's a risk it might sound as disjointed and tangent- filled as someone describing their dreams.
      Does that make sense?

But the very moment we met, we both knew that this was something special ( I know so because we both confirmed it together while reminiscing on the past). It was like our soul fell in love with each other. Anyways... We speak both English and French interchangeably. We often times finishes each others sentences. We knows the exact emotional state the other one is feeling. We even sometime do not need words to communicate. We both have same level of crazy, I'm more overt while she's more covert. But when we're together, there is not bound to our insanity. We laugh, we cry, we'd talk for hoourrrrsssss.... Our inner and outer world seems to mix with each other so well. We can say whatever it is in our mind and the other will ride along with it. Everything is so natural and free with her. Nothing is off limit. My only regret is that I have not found her sooner. So yes, it's hard to know what functions I actually do use when half of the time I am either sure what I am or trying to run away from what I could be. Oh well. As an ENFP your explanation of us preferring individuals to groups makes so much sense. A lot of my life I’ve been told to embrace things like Critical Theory and Identity Politics and I’ve always hated that and now I know why. Those theories reduce complex and interesting individuals to mere group tags, and that does a disservice to everyone.

    Wow this was really spot on. I definitely prefer individuals to groups (unless I'm the "node" or it's task based). I generally withdraw from artificiality unless I recognize something of substance peering out, or feel the person/issue it's worth "powering through". Last night my partner an ISTJ tried to avoid the neccessary emotional work that may be essential to getting him to a place where he can do the thing he has needed to do for months but keeps evading, and I just confront him in a compassionate way, and he kept trying to deflect and I was like nope, were doing this, it's too important a thing to let some unexpressed emotional issue you can't identify derail your life for years, sorry! He tentatively exposed something kinda faking in a way that communicated he thought he'd be judged.. So I had to give him the reassurance first, in a "show, not tell" way, that I cpuld be trusted not to judge or attack, that the point of my exploration was emotional problem solving. Eventually it all came out, a resentment towards his father he'd been holding for *15 yrs* and had never really identified or expressed to anyone. Once you know what you're working with emotionally it loses alot of its power to sabotage you, and we can work through it enough that you can function.

    This is very much accurate. The only part I don't agree with, as an ENFP, is that at least for me I feel extremely frustrated and sad when I don't do the things I imagined I would do. For example, you've said it's awesome even to travel within our minds and that is partially true. But a big part of my sadness (in the rare occasions it occurs) is not getting to do things I really wanted to do. I idealize a lot and there is no question about that, but I don't idealize for the sake of it. Really I just want to experience it, even if it's not as great as I thought would be, getting to live it and being surprised by stuff is even better! Like you said, we like to get deep into people and life in general, never accomplishing what we set our minds to, leads to frustration for me.

    • @heritage.home.crochet
      @heritage.home.crochet 2 года назад +2

      Very interesting, I like that you said that. This doesn't resonate with me though, as an ENFP. I find that there are so many things to explore and ideas to flirt with that once I've tasted just enough of an idea, I don't desire much more from it. I actually get distracted from it by a whole other idea. It's subconscious, it's effortless. My husband, an INFP on the other hand feels very regretful when he doesn't accomplish things be desires to do. It's like he takes it personally, like he wasn't true to himself or something. Like he can't pat himself on the back until he does it. That fascinates me! I would much rather see what comes my way, experience it as a concept or as a real thing, whatever I'm presented with and just move on to the next thing that catches my fancy.

    • @ninaportoc
      @ninaportoc 2 года назад +1

      @@heritage.home.crochet There are definitely situations where I don't mind experiencing it in my head. But traveling is one of my favorite things to do in life. This difference must be because I'm an enneagram 6w7. 7s are known to want to live life at its fullest and have fear of missing out. I've had a near death experience, so when it comes to trying stuff or doing things I love I want to do it as much as I can. Because almost not surviving must have rewired my brain to enjoy things, with moderation, but I still have a fear of getting to the end of it all and not lived. Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm ENTP and about being my true self in front of high Fi users it's impossible 😅 Even if ENFPs actualize their values, for them the idea of being in front of someone guided by logic and "situational fairness" instead of personal values and moral applied to every situation, makes them feel like insecure, as if I'm a "bad" person, or as if they can't trust me. And as I like to be friend of Fi users, I acquire the morals of the one that I have in front of me for that moment 🤷‍♀

    Agh, you want us to say INTJs. I have another paradigm shift in this since I’m married to an INFJ and find his inner INTJ hilarious and like a fuzzy asshole teddy bear 😂. So, an INFJ’s inner INTJ is the correct extra credit answer. 😊❤😂.

    As an ENFP if the only thing or the only way you ever treat me, is with some kimd of challenge, or some kind of cut down, I will give absolutely no fucks about engaging with you further.
