For cases like this, have you thought about doing something almost like a serial dilution in chemistry? In this case you could reserve a certain amount of the previous color, and then transfer the rest to add color to it. That way you'd have a small amount in case of mistakes but you could still get the seamless gradient without wasting paint. Beautiful work, btw!!
Oh wow, I think I'll give this a try with my watercolor painting. It may be hard just due to the nature of mixing on a small pallette tray, but it's worth a try
Thats genius! I always just wrote down my ratios ie how many drops/teaspoons etc added. 😂 This is so much less time consuming and prob more accurate. Thank you so much for sharing! 😊
Lots of painters do this already, I don't think there's a name for it, but they create extra of every color they will be using and set small amounts aside. This is easier with slow drying paint like oils, much harder to do with acrylic
@aditibist4044 you can try adding a drop or two of vegetable glycerin to your paints. It extends the working time to something more like oil paints. However, don't add too much because it can cause your paint to never dry
@@DelicateDotsAndrea not to sound like a weirdo, but watching your work gives me chills. I can't get over how freaking steady your hands must be. I bet you'd be a phenomenal surgeon. You probably are a surgeon in an alternate reality.
It's always such a relief when I complete a piece, especially one that takes a lot of time and precision. Your work is BEAUTIFUL. I would LOVE to have one of your pieces!!!
As someone who paints and does that, thanks for giving me new anxiety 👍 All that aside THAT IS SO GORGEOUS people compliment artist for patience but we all know how satisfying it is when you complete a piece, a good artist is one that takes what’s in their mind and converts it to real life!
You have a unique combination of talent, nerves of steel and patience. My dots would be uneven, warped and they would smudge. At some point I’d throw the rock out my window. 😂
Ma'am got the patience of a saint

I've tried this with acrylics but in small quantities they dry up really fast
