Another absolutely video. I lived in a 48 Morgan Out Island sailboat for two years in the Fl. Keys, going up and down the East coast and to the Abacos in the Bahamas. Living aboard is such a special, beautiful, enchanting, and adventuresome way to live. But, I do remember the anxiety, apprehensiveness, and sometimes sharp words that came about when trying to get through a bridge in a new area with lots of other boats and impatient bridge tenders. All part of the beauty to me now. Thank you for the boat yard tour Dino, it was delightful seeing Aalborg through your eyes.

Thanks for this very nice stretch up to Aggersund Bridge and you made it pass.
A little note on red and green lights... There is no green lights. One red light= no passage, 2 or 3 blinking lights=bridge is opening and 2 or 3 fixed lights= bridge is open for passage.
2 light are inbound and 3 outbound direction.
Looking forward to your next trip here.

It is so nice to see my country explored through your eyes...if the weather is good, there is no place for more sensous experiences than sailing through the Danish canals and among the small islands in the south. I did that many years ago and my friend and I brought a parot along the way. Every time we would leave the boat the parot would loudly "play" many songs from the radio. Just like a taperecorder! That was hillarious and an excellent way to get in contact with people in the different harbours 🙂

In my teens and twenties i LOVED sailing with my lee side gunnels under water - but I was sailing a weekend sail boat, not a live aboard - I now have a much better understanding of the priorities of cruisers. I just pray I can afford a boat afore I am too feeble of mind or body to crew it.
I no longer dream of circumnavigating, or even really crossing oceans, but 20 or 30 years of live aboard and jaunts to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and, just maybe, Panama... THAT is a dream!

Tacking without losing speed with a long keeled boat is an artform. Here it is mastered to the hilt, watch and learn. The key is to not back the sail and get it slowly back to work, a heavy(ish) boat with a long keel can keep the speed nicely if one does not brake it with the sails. Lovely video, makes me want to go sailing immediately. 🙂

You asked about the danish bridge crossing rules - I think they are simple - 1 red - you may not cross, 2 red blinking - crossing from N and E is cooming soon, 2 fast red - you may cross from N and E, 3 red blinking - crossing from S and W is cooming soon, 3 fast red - you may cross from S and W.
