As I watched a few of your videos, and now your Scandinavia series, I am taken back to my own youth. My family and I had a summer vacation place in Heiligenhafen, Germany (on the Baltic) and we sailed every summer through Denmark and Sweden in our very small Dehler made Varianta & Sprinta sailboats. So many wonderful memories came up for me as I watch your lovely documented journey. Thank you for bring back some joy and loving memories. I love your channel! So well made!
I spent half my sailing life on a Contessa 26 in the west of Scotland. I understand the small boat bad weather feeling well. Iyou for the condition of Magic Carpet, a joy to see.
Hot facts. 18:17 The two identical ships are some of our Ice breakers. Due to global warming they have not been in use for over 5 years and have just been put up for sale.
Dear Magic Carpet - lovely to see your wonderful videos - love the fiddle playing. Whenever you are sailing in northern waters - no matter the weather - you should always wear life preservers.
I am a viewer from Sweden and I really like your videos, it will be very exciting to see where you will go in Sweden. My boyfriend and I have a 30ft sailboat that we sail in the summers in Stockholms archipelago, but we have the dream of someday sailing around the world and your videos are really inspiring! ☺️
The small towns you visited looked lovely, the high rise apartment blocks in Aalborg less so. I hope Denmark keeps its character and values. Good to hear boaters appreciate good harbours and facilities. In the UK, marinas are very expensive and overdeveloped.
The final scene: Departing the Danish Dock, reminds me that in many places around the world the sailing community is a great community of decent, kind, helpful people. Here's hoping it stays that way. And, I believe it will.
As someone who has hiked, marched and ridden over much of this great green earth, having a nice snug boat to retreat to is hardly hardship. Stand firm because you’ve chosen a path where you have a safe place.
Hals is just next to my home habour! So much fun to see places I know. The two old ice breakers are for sale if you get tired of the small boat. ‘People’ are tired of looking at them, but after a sail in bad weather on Kattegat they are usually the first thing you can actually see when you approach Limfjorden. So to me they represent safety and I will be really sad the day they go.
Under "additional layers" in the Windy App, you can find a screen that forecasts lighting and thunderstorms. Here in (lighting prone) Panama, we generally avoid going out if forecast lighting strikes exceeds 0.1 to 0.5/Km2/day but, of course, we are often at anchor when levels far exceed that. The only real solution is for the boat to be well grounded (particularly the mast and shrouds). Steel and aluminum boats are, of course, naturally grounded.
Maya, Aalborg is Denmark's fourth populated city. Copenhagen is the biggest, followed by Århus, Odense and Aalborg. Nice to see Magic Carpet in my home harbour Hals and glad to hear you had a good experience. It was nice to meet you Alandino, even just short. Hope we meet maybe next year. Who knows. Thanks for the video.
Another lovely episode, Maya and Aladino. You make my Fridays! Oh! I caught Delos and One Life and Jibsea today as well but you have such a different vibe than most other sailing channels. And UMA in the Med yesterday! Rafting. I worked at the Govt. Dock in Ganges, Saltspring Island, BC. one summer MANY years ago. NOT a "marina"! A Government created dock mostly for fishermen but used by cruisers as well. That was my introduction to boats and boat life on the salt chuck. Only three long fingers in that harbour and rafting was a thing all the time. It was also very cheap to stay there. Ten cents a foot per night plus a $1 surcharge for garbage disposal/water etc. for the length of time you stayed. So a 30 foot boat would cost $4 for the 1st night and $3 a night for the next few. You were supposed to only stay a week or so. If you wanted shore power, which was BRAND NEW at that dock, it was another $1 a day. I always thought that I would like to have a sailboat from my experiences at that time, but it never worked out for me. I enjoy the adventures that you share and also am MUCH at home in the RAIN! Thank you.
Oh my gosh I just love your channel. I am an identical twin also. I pray you all have an absolutely amazing time together and can’t wait for your next video. PeaceAndLove Lori
Wow I am SO sorry it took me so long to see this! A huge, huge thank you for your kind donation. RUclips doesn't always do a great job of notifying us about the "Super Thanks" comments, so again my sincere apologies for not thanking you sooner. Happy New Year! -Maya
I'm a fellow Canuck living in Göteborg and have been sailing these waters for 6 years on my 28ft Maxi. Can't wait to see more, I think you're going to (will have) loved it.
Nice to see you enjoyed your stay in my hometown, Hals. And like many before you, you experienced the issues here when going from sheltered waters to open sea.
Wow I am SO sorry it took me so long to see this! A huge, huge thank you for your kind donation. RUclips doesn't always do a great job of notifying us about the "Super Thanks" comments, so again my sincere apologies for not thanking you sooner. Happy New Year! -Maya
And here is the end of the danish journey. All those little towns were absolutely lovely, clean, quiet. I am looking forward to follow your adventures in Sweden.
Great episode! I was originally going to listen to this and research something on my other screen, but I saw the beautiful opening you made for the mini-series and almost immediately decided it was worth watching and listening to. I never knew Aladino had a twin, but the more the merrier in terms of sailing! Can’t wait for the voyage to Sweden, and the fate of that weather window. Fair winds, -J
Hi from Brisbane Aust. Just wanted to tell you about another Cape George 36 being sailed single handed in the Golden Globe round the world race. Kristen has just left Cape Town for the Southern Ocean crossing to Hobart. Seems like your choice was an inspired one. Love your channel been watching from beginning. Fair sailing.
1 enjoyed your Danish journey. A change of pace. I guess you have been following Kirsten in the GGR. She is doing pretty well isn't she? And proving that your choice of a Cape George for world cruising was a good one.
What a great place to be! I think of Mads & Ava who left Denmark and are now in Spain(?) and others who are sailing into the Mediterranean right now… it’s always interesting to see where people go and why…
Vi had such a good summer this year so I don't know how you managed to get that much bad weather. But of course I live in Elsinore further east and south 🙂🏝
We have winter approaching in Eastern Canada 🇨🇦 and I just finished putting my boat under her winter cover today. Your videos are wonderful and I thank you so much for all the time and energy you put into sharing your many adventures!
Weather-wise it can only get better I think. So I say it's a good start.😁 @07:13 Nice to see the correct rules of etiquette followed without a hesitation. Always pass over the bow, never the cockpit!🤗 @11:03 For me, thunderstorms are only a potential problem when sailing on restricted waters, on open waters I used to sail around the edges to pick up the wind... What worries me most is dense fog.😨 I remember a trip with the Najade, the (then) flagship of the Navy Yacht Club, in which I sailed at night from Den Helder to Dover with a number of heavy thunderstorms. I was on deck with one crew member, all the rest of the crew slept tight, all night. I used them to catch wind, perfect.😊 Later I heard that the same thunderstorms claimed 2 fatalities in their journey across the Netherlands....🤔
How I wish I was with you , I have family in Sweden . I have been many many times and love it there . I do hope you have a peaceful crossing and enjoy your time in Sweden . I plan to visit again in the New Year . Hugs
I would love nothing as much as sailing around the USA from Maine to Alaska but I’ll never have the skills for it. The lifestyle is very attractive but I do not have the skills for sailing. I can get a bit of it from this channel though.
Always love your VLOGs, but particularly your journey through the Limfjord, a cut-through Danish route frequently overlooked . Look forward to Sweden 🇸🇪
I love how much of a sense of a place I get from your videos. Denmark looks lovely and I'd really like to visit it sometime. But... does this mean the end of the Danish folk tunes? Shedding a tear...
Unfortunately, yes, this is likely the end of the Danish Folk Tunes. But hey, it might be the beginning of Swedish ones! When one door closes, another one opens.
Hello Maya and Aladino Thank you for your visit to my beautiful country. Hope your trip went well. A little hint, if you should get on those edges again. Then check out the following series. "course towards the north" or course towards distant shores" both with Mikkel and his family. Now they live in a house with a view of the water in northern Zealand. Mikkel is the son of a well-known Danish sailor, Troel Kløvedal. Try searching for his books, Troels has been around the world several times. And he has sailed on the Yangtze River in China. Claus Klausen🌍
8:19 Good morning (holds her forehead - the morning after the night before? I mean, what else does a sailor do when as much water comes from above as is under the boat?)
Those boats in Hals reminded me of a Fantasy Novel Series I read - the author is Robin Hobb, 10 Volumes of a totally artificcial world. I think the "ships volumes" - are called "The liveship traders" - loved it sooo much. Other ones are the Farseer Trilogy
Hals, By far the best town you accidentally stayed in. However you missed the fort, the whale jaws, spine and the museum. Not to mention the bunkers, and talk out to the “corner” were the fjord meets the sea.
Dear Maya!! Are you quite sure you're not sailing on the Shannon in Ireland in July. it looks very like it. wet, uncomfortable and trying to find the next mark to stay in the navigation.....
Hi , recently picked up your channel and watched Scandinavian summer ones, I will se it again for sure 👍. Your channel is so awesome 🤩 I’m Peter and I live 400 meters from the first harbor you got to in Sweden (Lerkil) so glad we had you guys here. Well next time you arrive hock me up and me and my family will gladly invite you for dinner and fresh shower and god sleep in our heat house if you like. Keep up with the content and good luck on the boat build. Best regards Peet’s performance 🇸🇪
67th LIKE, 180th desktop shipmate view... here we go... FYI: a wonderful Danish singer - Sinne Eeg - has been all the way to SoCal to perform. You might like her style.
See that town market reminds me of how life in new jersey was 35 yrs ago and a place i would love to visit some day
Wonderful episode, very romantic to listen 🎶 violin 🎻 I really like it the most beautiful romantic music 🎶 🎵 forever.

Not seen a sou'wester since my younger days. Thanks for a lovely episode with your friends

Really Nice!!
great episode ... love the magical light as you left Denmark
I love how your great boat prep allows you to enjoy drama-free sailing!
As someone who has hiked, marched and ridden over much of this great green earth, having a nice snug boat to retreat to is hardly hardship. Stand firm because you’ve chosen a path where you have a safe place.
I very much enjoy listening to Aladino's analysis of the water in this. The music selections are always spot on! Thanks!
Loved this one

The summer evening lights in Scandinavia is lovely! 😍😍

Loved this video. You are traveling where I will never be able to visit.
Beautiful tour I second your capacity to lead travelers the your destinations.
Always a pleasure watching
You travel well and explain all not being a sailor we love the detail you explain it so well
Thank you and my the wind be in your fever
This tour of Denmark was very informative.

Every country that you visit should hire you as a representative. Interesting, great cinematography, descriptive and gives you the desire to visit.
Exellent I enjoyed your video.
Great video, highlighting how cold northern latitudes can be.

You are almost at the homeplace of Sailing RAN. Enjoy the trip along the coast of Sweden. Al the smal island north of Göteborg are beutiful.
Pozdrawiam z Opole, Silesia, Polska
That market looked very dangerous for the bank balance!
Thanks for another wonderful episode.
always nice to share the joy of sailing with good friends.
I like the Südwester Maya wears!
I so enjoy your channel. Thanks for putting in the hard work. It shows.
And here is the end of the danish journey. All those little towns were absolutely lovely, clean, quiet. I am looking forward to follow your adventures in Sweden.
Thank you for another beautiful episode, with friends- 1 a twin!
I've watched all episodes and this is easily one of my favorites. Can't wait till the next. Be safe!!!
You are far safer in a sailboat than an open boat, when caught in lightning. But it also helps to be well grounded

Lovely clip thanks, I love Risotto, it looked yummy, I would like to do a Risotto tour of Northern Italy. Hope you have a good passage.

Glad you had your friends aboard. The guys are similar. 😊
Great content is what I like about this channel 👏
Another spectacular video! I would love to visit Denmark! It seems so lovely ❤❤Safe sailing!!

Love the boats. Thank you all for sharing :)
Fair winds!
Don’t forget to give Baltiisk some consideration in your planning of where you’re going . Then I will waive you into port! Love, Michael!
Thanks for posting this video of your adventures.
You need a clock and barometer for the CG....Those were beautiful!
8:19 Good morning (holds her forehead - the morning after the night before? I mean, what else does a sailor do when as much water comes from above as is under the boat?)
I use to accuse you for presenting poetry to us. This time you widen the spectra by giving us a different kind of art. Thanks for the Boats of art! 😊😊
I would be hard pressed to leave some of those beautiful country towns! wow!
Brillant again❤
Hard boatlife and still filming👍
Aww lol you so on my home seas now... hope u enjoy seeing the folkeboats, one type i sailed alot, without motor int thise areas...
Certainly can see the appeal for the Danish harbors _ Overall seemed like the calmest vibe for a fairly busy place. . . :>/
🙌🙌🙌
If you wanna see rafting and coordination go to Helgoland :)

yes I have read those books to and you are correct
3:25 @Dini! Took is very Canadian, ehh! Right on!
11.38 am Australia 12/11/2022 I would like to echo comment made by Roy Clare that you have a charming vibe and often lyrical commentary Maya
I'm the same way! Two pairs of pants, Fjallraven is my go-to brand for this. What's your favorite food quality minimalist clothing?
Lovely episodes.
