Hey Asian boss. Another great interesting video with another famous celebrity on. But I have to say, it's another video about black people being part of Koreans' racism against blacks. And follows that same narrative you would find in the west. But, don't you think it's really not quite the same as it applies to Korea when in fact the first presence of black people in Korea was with the US military. And they came into Korea along with whites as more of a people in power and perpetrators and not as victims. I mean you would have to look no further than some of the half black celebrities like In Soon Yi, Yoon Mi Rae, and others. They were basically dumped in Korean peninsula and left there. I know it's part of Korea that's shameful. But there's this big hole that's not not talked about, and I think is part a more accurate story than what is presented here.
ILY PETALS WORLD 릴리가족 In what way is Sam same as your husband? The only similarity is that they both faced discrimination due to their skin colour, that is all! Sam had the courage and perseverance and stayed in Korea, learned Korean fluently and made something of himself. But your husband didn't have the strength nor tenacity and refused to learn Korean and whinges why he couldn’t get a job in Korea - playing a typical victim! He had to runaway back to a familiar environment! How's living in the USA now?
Ok but do you know what will really make you fall in love with this guy? He makes schools in Ghana with the money he gets from show appearances and dramas he’s acted in. Like, he finds land to build the building on and hires teachers.
Big ups to the Korean friend who came through for him financially when he was experiencing tough times. Friends like these are like angels. Let us all strive to be one
Ami B well said! He has a positive personality which will get good results for him in his career and throughout his life. He would not progress well in a foreign land if he was like some of those angry black men. One of my best friend is from Ghana (they are looking lovely and intelligent people)!

As a Jamaican I send my respects to this man for doing a well job in the representation of all black people around the world to show that we are intelligent, we are kind and we are all beautiful. Job well done Mr. Sam💯 respects and support from Jamaica.
As a Korean, whenever I hear about the discrimination of black people in Korea, feel so sorry and get embarrassed. To write a few, Korea was quite closed to foreign people. So people over 60 literally discriminates foreingers. Because of the Hollywood movies and some cultural trends, they surely prefer white and are scared of black. As Young people in Korea are very opened and we know the manner, Korea will be different and better from now. Victoria Lee This is nice to hear- I wonder though, how do young people in Korea learn about racism towards foreigners (and how to stop it)? it seems like it would be difficult. Is it through people like Sam who share their experiences with racism, or by researching online?
Well I think the biggest reason is younger ones are more educated than before, and we have more opportunity to go outside of Korea and meet various people. Also Sam and others changed the view too. So we don't get educated by school or organizations, I think we are just getting involved in international flow and our moral minds are gettigbetter and better. Am I giving the right answer?

november132 All three places you mentioned are places where hope is stifled by racism from whites, inequality in education and the justice system, police brutality and the legacy of apartheid/Jim Crow. He is Ghanaian, his subconscious thoughts are not that he lives in a society where his life is valued less or that his livelihood or his life can be taken from him on the basis of skin color by Neanderthals. So next time you want to compare blacks from majority black countries vs ones where whites are the majority think long and hard about what makes them different.
As a Ghanaian I could tell he was Ghanaian from his accent whilst speaking Korean before I heard him speak English. I could hear the tone though I don’t understand Korean, it’s crazy how you can know your people🤯
I am so impressed with Sam Okyere's attitude, outlook, and strength despite the adversity he has faced in Korea. He is not only a great role model for foreigners and or Blacks in Korea, but for Koreans period. This was a great interview. I like how it was honest and not sugar coated.
@Chris Robertson Gay boy 😂🤣🤣😅 Ok funny man, alpha man💪🏽 For a strong clever man like you, you should know that a lion does concern itself with the opinions of sheep.
I love all Africans, they are the sweetest people, and I find that the Philipino people are super sweet people as well. Asian men are always very nice and respectful to me.
Vincent Jones Is the last couple of years....school shootings have increase alot since Donald Trump first because the President. Henceforth, not only that white people have robbed, raped and 'stolen' resources from other countries. That's why Brazil and Africa looks like shit on television.
Derrell Rose what's wrong with YOU? It's common for people to correlate and compare between people of a minority group. As an Asian American, I've always been told by other Americans that I look like this or that Asian person they've seen on Tv. Try to get out more to get a bigger perspective on the world. The people there are not different than the people here.
I’m Asian and I can understand his appeal towards Koreans and Asians in general. He exudes confidence with his intellect and very easy going attitude that makes anyone gravitate to. And the fact that he actually made efforts to learn the culture and the language is even more impressive and greatly appreciated by the locals. His good looks is just a bonus. ❤️
@@Diddydiddler776 Why are African American women attracted to Korean men? I know some very attractive Korean men, but what makes them gorgeous to me is how sweet and respectful they are to me.
After living in Korea for 3 years as a black man I can vouch for almost everything he is saying! At first you are kind of afraid that you will be treated this way your entire stay in the country but then you integrate and learn the culture and fall in love! S. Korea is one of the best countries on earth I absolutely love it there!
I'm happy that Sam made it, but there are a lot more people out there who are still subjected to discrimination. I hope there are more awareness like this everywhere in the world. It really starts with you. Even if they can't speak your language, have compassion and life will be better for everyone.
There is absolutely no mystery as to why this guy is famous. 5 mins listening to him talk and you realise they don't make replicas of his kind in the human factory.
@@jacobsmiles6884 that is such a horrible lie. If you don't want to go to Africa don't lie about the people in Africa. How many times do you hear Africans treating foreigners badly and saying they're racists???
yasashii89 It's not the same, because minorities have faced and overcome discrimination while white people generally have not (only exception is poor whites, who still have it better than poor minorities). That's all I'll say for now because I really don't want to get into this argument.
Bro, being African is such a blessing! I just love being multilingual 🇰🇪 (just saying this cause some have to learn languages for particular reasons, like I had to so don't take it too seriously)
There is no such thing as a Mexican. Mexico is a country it's not a race, so the fact that someone told you that you don't look Mexican is not an insult...get over yourself

Sam Okyere speaking and teaching the truth from the heart. Not all Black people are dangerous or gangstas. We are more kind and wise. And thank God for South Korea for giving him love and respect. Big pimpin' gettin' all the love from the ladies of South Korea.
@@rosalez1389 no man there are gangsters in every country regardless of race, even africa and korea. People just stereotype black people especially because of american tv and programs
ros alez nope in Africa too I’m African and just visited in December and there were some people who weren’t the best just like other countries but there were so many kind hearted people!
Yeah he asked good questions.... unlike the "Being Black in Japan" guy that would ask questions like; What's your earliest memory in life, who would you have dinner with dead or alive.... totally irrelevant questions.
Its hard to dislike a genuine kind person. I wish more people in the world could have his personality maybe there wouldn't be an issue with racism if we all put our selfs away and cared about others.
In August 2020, Sam Okyere made an instagram post condemning the use of Blackface in a South Korean graduation photo. He got a TON of flack and criticism, thousands of racist comments and remarks including "Go pick some cotton, Go back to Africa" etc. He eventually APOLOGIZED for making the post and deleted as if Sam was in the wrong! Blackface in all its forms is incredibly racist and offensive regardless of its intention. Sam Okyere was absolutely right to criticize its use, and it's disgusting and disturbing that through his protest he was viewed as the bad guy. Koreans have a long way to go in terms of race relations if this is how they treat their most prominent black celebrity.
I doubt koreans said go pick cotton, since it would make no sense in korea. But social media will always give back hate and ignorance when you speak truth and call out injustice.
@@sophia-yd3ds it still would make no sense in korea..you know korea was 90% slaves about 70 years back..koreans picked cotton...so that phrase only makes sense in US
Don't be fooled by what they show you... about 90percent of African folks abroad are living it so hard. They do shithole jobs, and that's why Africa need to wake up and learn from Trumps motivation.
I can honestly say, learning Korean can really help you gain respect from the people. The elders loved me, the young girls happily talked to me. The soldiers treated me to dinner a lot. My favorite incident was being complemented by an elderly lady about my skin smoothness and even complexion. Sadly there are some rude people though. Didn’t break my stride, old ladies made my experience better..oh and soju..that helps.
You shouldn't have to learn their language for them to accept you. They should accept you because you are a person. Put the shoe on the other foot: Should they learn English before all other English-speaking people accept them? That's the worst justification I have ever heard. I am black and wouldn't change it, nor would I accommodate by way of learning another person's language. South Korea is a technological advanced country. They have access to information. They can enlighten themselves if they truly want to. They choose to live in the dark.
Duh.. You came to their country as a guest and you expect them to speak your language? racism and prejudice are all over the world. Tech world? live in the dark? how about USA? or Europe? I'm not justifying Korean racism or anything, racism in South Korea mainly came from unfamiliarity and prejudice, so approaching them so they become familiar with you is one of the way to reduce the racism, nothing wrong with that. To remove racism need to works from the both way, you can't expect someone to accept you while you're doing nothing.
Yes, it makes a lot of sense to learn the language- and the culture to a larger extent- but it shouldn't be a prerequisite to be shielded from discrimination or be treated as an outcast.
"Should they learn English before all other English-speaking people accept them?" Of course you should if you live and work there. It's simply a matter of manner and common sense. Why do you want to get respect from people even when you are ill-mannered and disrespectful, simply because you are human?
The reason I clicked on this video is not only because I'm a black and I'm curious, but because this guy's surname shows he's from my country, Ghana🇬🇭❤
I am Ghanaian, in ghana we are soo friendly to the point that everyone try to talk to and help foreigner's I'm soo shocked that we are treated like trash in Asia. ghanaians are always friendly ,cheerful n respectful . We are are brought up to respect every human being regardless of race. I hope someday we will recieve all the love that we give .
Thats what pisses me off. Africans as a whole respect people no matter what race, color etc. But then vice versa they treat Black people like shit. I'm not generalizing but its just straight up retarded
naomi a agyeman it must be people think that your Nigerian , who's personality is very much different to Ghanaian, Besides general western concencus is that all Africans are the same live up trees or at most a thatched mud hut, live around livestock and shit in the bush,
My dad was in the Korean war decades ago ,he said the Korean people were wonderful but Europeans were not kind to them at all. he was pleased at how warm they were to blacks.
Janet Reece I was in Korea at about...2011 i think. Taegu. And yes, the Koreans LOVED Black folks. They were kinda cold to the whites in my unit though.
Kenson King ,The reason we get the horrible treatment here is because we are in the 2nd Egypt. anyway my dad was in the Korean war decades ago ,he loved the Koreans but was hurt and shocked when he saw his fellow soldiers treat them so badly. when my dad came home he know longer had a close relationship with The Most High ,he said it was so terrible the way the non-blacks treated them. He was a country boy never seen killing like that. a man of heroic honor .he was drafted ,he told the Navy authority that he would serve his country but kill no man. He often said no way will I go anywhere to kill a man I don't even know or kill unless its self defense. there were many men like my dad and Desmond Doss ,fought wars with their minds and hearts ,no weapons.
Positive energy is the answer. People are drawn to positivity. Assimilate to your best level and see what happens. Color bar only applies where your inner self is already defeated or combatant. Love humanity change the world. Sam is definately a handsome eloquent smart gentleman. That helps alot.
I stumbled upon this interview randomly and I'm glad I did. This is exactly what this generation should watch because you are a role model - you could be a model too😉 Handsome, articulate and humble. A go getter! We're all so proud of you...The journalist did a fantastic job as well, you asked all the relevant questions.
i am asian and in all honestly, sam is right, i never have black friend and all i saw is from movie where they are portrayed badly. i kinda thought they are scary. As i grow old, i start to learn that its all wrong ;; i even thought that the n word is another word for friendly "bro" at first before i learn from the internet. (Internet is surprisingly good lmao) Abnormal summit is an amazing show, its funny and it shows various pov from other country. it introduce us to sam and other great person
Great comment! We as black people need to realize not every society automatically knows our history. Explanation and just relating are the best racial barriers because really there's only one race, the human race. And that is always relatable. Also, alot of the agressive behavior comes from hundreds of years of having to survive, and when your ancestors are raped and sold from their families, the need to be strong becomes ingrained into the generations even til this day. Theres lots of other reasons why, and I'm not saying its ok to be aggressive, I just wanted to explain a little some of my culture. The reason I'm at this video is because I'm wanting to learn more about yours 😊
He does. His mannerism, command of the English language and from what I am hearing in the comments command of the Hangugeo language as well. Well dresses, well spoke... Type of guy you want to just listen to.
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Sam Okyere is a legit African Boss alright!!! He is sooo eloquent and wise... Thank you so much for sharing this excellent interview with him to us!❤️
LOL All of us out of our countries. The Brain Drain is strong. When do we go back and revolutionize pur countries? we shouldn't continue running out :(
As a young black guy just getting into Korean culture with the hopes of visiting one day, Sam is making it a better experience for me by his representation, and I’m truly thankful.
No brother, Sam has been shunned by Koreans for calling out racism in Korea. Apparently none of his high profile friends stood up for him. Go back home brother, Ghana is doing well.
I feel like a really important message is not really being pointed out as much as it should in the comment section. Taking opportunities no matter how impossible it may seem at the moment. When Sam said "There's no way I'd get in with so many applying" but look at him now! His positivity not only shines and is recognized by all these Korean people but his positivity has taken him as far as learning the Korean language and embraced the Korean culture.
That was a special FEEL. I really enjoyed this program. People have to love themselves. Constantly try to keep refining and defining ourselves. He didn't ask for respect, he DEMANDED it through persistence and tenacity. He's incredible, Sam Okyere. Keep up the good work.

Better than nuclear treat ,and that what the world must be ,like civilized people.
😂😂😂😂😂
For real. It’s amazing how quickly they turned on him.
I doubt koreans said go pick cotton, since it would make no sense in korea. But social media will always give back hate and ignorance when you speak truth and call out injustice.

To remove racism need to works from the both way, you can't expect someone to accept you while you're doing nothing.
jamdawgutube If you go live in another country, the first thing you should do is learn their language. It’s common sense.
Yes, it makes a lot of sense to learn the language- and the culture to a larger extent- but it shouldn't be a prerequisite to be shielded from discrimination or be treated as an outcast.
"Should they learn English before all other English-speaking people accept them?"
Of course you should if you live and work there. It's simply a matter of manner and common sense. Why do you want to get respect from people even when you are ill-mannered and disrespectful, simply because you are human?
this man is beautiful!
