    I had an MRO on my colt 14.5 work rifle for 5+ years. I work in the mountains and deserts of the souther border. I didn’t buy it, government issued. Never had a single issue with it. Shot it out past 300 unmagnified with an astigmatism at steel, no issues. It was never in the rack getting bounced around, it’s been dropped(not on purpose) and inadvertently banged on boulders while hiking. Again, no issues.
    I recently got issued a 12.5 bcm with an aimpoint pro. Same thing, same treatment, zero issues. Only difference is it’s bigger, heavier, and uses weird batteries. Looks kind of funny on the sbr but who cares.
    All things considered I prefer the mro just for the size and weight which surprisingly I do notice. Pro make the rifle unbalanced and heavy towards the rear which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is unbalanced. Apparently no magnifiers match up with the old MRO, but honestly in my experience I don’t need a magnifier. Can’t imagine what the thing would weigh with a pro and a 3x anyway!
    I have shot with a t2 but it was limited

    Green dots have a shorter battery life than red because green is a higher frequency than red, and as such requires more energy to be produced. Red, on the other hand, is the lowest frequency color that humans can see, so it is the best for energy conservation.
    Higher frequency --> more energy

      @@1911syndicate the complaint people make about magnification is referring to the red dot rather than the green. This goes back to the battery life. The magnification in the red dot comes from a tint added to the lens, which magnifies the visibility of the red dot, in order to save energy. So many people complained about the hue and fisheye, that Trijicon switched to green dot at the expense of battery life. The green is visible enough to the human eye that the tint is not needed. However the emitter uses more energy.

      I like the blue tint. If you use it in low light with a white light, the blue tint helps keep the dot from washing out against a light colored background. The holosun I have I have to turn it up brighter to see the dot on white targets with a white light on. Obviously there is a certain point where the blue tint is too much but I don't think any modern optics are at that point.

    I have astigmatism which causes the Dot to appear as a Comet, or Supernova- depending on brightness setting.
    I use the rear BUIS with lowest brightness setting I can see for precision or distance shots. The rear BUIS acts as a Diopter and “cleans up” the Dot.

    As always, love your vids.
    The reason Aimpoint puts UP/R on both adjustment caps is so that you don't have to remember or keep track of which one is which. And if you lose one of them you can still use the other (or only order 1 to replace it). It also makes manufacturing processes faster.
    I also have both but prefer the Aimpoint for the reasons you mentioned about variability in brightness. Also, the Aimpoint has 1/4 MOA adjustments while the Trijicon has 1/2 MOA which makes it less precise.

    The problem with the MRO is the Parallax Shift, which when shooting from unconventional positions, when the dot is not centered in the window, can be extreme. Green Eye Tactical did an extremely thorough test of several red dots and posted the testing on their website. EOTech and Aimpoints suffer very little parallax shift.

The green has reduced tint too, but they were only able to get a year on setting 3 (~6 months on 4) because green has a shorter wavelength than red (more oscillations per second)

    Today, I had an eye exam only to see if my eyes are degrading or if my new (red) MRO is faulty; my eyes are normal. I see multiple dots in the optic, a bloom. I can't even zero in my rifle with any accuracy. I need to see about a return or exchange.

      You have an astigmatism. Welcome to the party. Didn’t realize I had one either until I got the mro. Get an lpvo. Etched reticle looks perfect and so does the illumination. The led goes through a fiber optic tube which really cleans things up.

    • @Funexpected
      @Funexpected 2 года назад

      I was going to go LPVO, but instead bought a Vortex Spitfire etched prism optic. The reticle rings aren't crisp, kind of double or shadow making the rings thick. It's a complaint I've seen from others that I don't think has to do with eyesight.

      @@1911syndicate I bought the MRO. It was the best I could afford. (Too many rifles to put premium optics on) While I don’t own an actual Aimpoint, I have used them in the past. I’m not so sure I wouldn’t buy the Trijicon again. I enjoyed the video. Both are great optics. Hard decisions.
