I learn a lot from your video’s. I’m replacing the exhaust camshaft only. One tooth to the right broke off. Even though Zi replaced the camshaft sensor, the code still shows sensor is faulty. My question is: Will replacing camshaft solve the problem. And I’m so afraid I might not place the camshaft in the wrong position. Any suggestions
PLL Lot, thanks for that info 👍. I am doing one of these right now. (Valve job due to broken timing belt) The "manual" on csmans is very unclear about where to apply the sealant and neglects to mention what type should be used.
I heard that you should never double click on torque wrench. I like to double click too but i saw a videi of a mechanic saying that you should never double click ....what fo you think about that
I have a 2015 eco tec motor I put in my 2009 if I was to remove the cam from my old engine and put in the 2015 engine would I have to use the caps from the 2009 engine or can I use the 2015 ones?
Lee, something doesn't add up somewhere?... csmans is also showing the torque to be 8y (nm) or 71 in-lb... but that only converts to 5.92 ft-lb? I'm doing one right now and replacing the head bolts for new as directed, but this has me thinking ALL the bolts should be replaced?
@@andrewulrich4930 my wrench on one side says (da. NM) M. Kgs. And when set on 8. Which I assumed was 8nm. On back side is the ft lbs and it’s on roughly 58ft lbs I was also snapping bolts at 4nm. And it felt like way to much. So when I called Chevy to order a new bolt set I asked them and they said 8ft lbs.
Once they have been took off idk but am searching and will share. With the vvt sprockets it seemed like exhaust cam was sit on a quarter off so when u layed the chain on the intake cam on its marks when u went to put on its marks on exhaust the sprocket it self had to be rotated back to get the marks lined up. I know this. U can’t set chain on its crankshaft mark at dead center the try to line marks up on sprockets to figure out exactly where they bolt down maybe u can set Intake cam like that but not exhaust. If u find out before me plz share
These cams have grooves where a timing tool can be placed to align the cams. Alternatively two vice grips or a 21mm wrench holding the cams behind the sprockets. Make sure the grooves are horizontal
@@kas1nova1 i have a problem and need help the cam sprocket on the left doesn't line up the line is not horizontal but the cam is straight from the back and it is on tdc how would i adjust the sprocket to line up

From the front, not including the main front bearing cross member (camshaft position solenoid housing) that has both inlet and exhaust caps, you go 6, 7, 8 and then 9 is the rear most exhaust cam bearing cap next to the pulse generator ring on the back of the camshaft. By the way, when installing the camshaft position solenoid housing, it is vital that you keep the oil grooves clear of sealant so that oil trapped by the front seals is able to return into the valve/tappet chamber.
He’ll 8 nm snapped one bolt the I used a smaller torque wrench and put it on 4nm and it snapped another one. WTH is going on. Even with if I get new bolts it just feels like to much

EXACTO
Cuales canales? Los 4 pequeños como de un octavo?

It is very helpful with these info
the service manual clearly states NOT to put any sealant over the grooves on the bridge cap.

Hi, what torque do you put at the head of the engine?
Can I use the 1.8 cams in my 1.6 to create more power???
They're identical so won't make a difference
Thank you!

My camshaft bearing cap cracked a little from the side of the screw can I still use it since I can tighten it. Or replace the bearing cap?
8nm or .8 (da nm) Chevy said 8ftlbs on 2.4 which would be good on reused bolts but 8nm is 6ftlbs
