Turned out absolutely awesome ❤ Nice conversion Jim, Merry Christmas to you and your family and all the best for 2025, and thank you for the videos and entertainment and support in 2024, Cheers 🍻 🇦🇺🦘🪃🤝🇺🇸🍻🍻🎄🎅🤶🧑🎄🎄
That's a beautiful model on it's own, but I like the decals you added too! Fun stuff! I hope you're having a happy holidays, man! Merry Christmas, Jim!
Thanks Son! Maistos can be hard to find here too -- I happened to run across this one (and another variation) at Big Lots a few months ago...and that Big Lots is shut down now. Merry Christmas to you and your family too!
Great job Jim! 100% improvement over the original casting. Hell removing the hitch alone has me wishing I had grabbed one or more of these when I saw them! You can bet I will if I can find them again. 👍👍
A lot of work went into this fast simple build. Santa Moon looks cool. All the little details 👍 the glass was probably there just to mess with the hobbyist 😉 Well done Jim. I'm sure your Moon Eyes friend will appreciate it very much
Thanks so much GW! Sometimes the simple builds do seem to have more than I realize in them (such as making the white toner decals for this one). I was digging through castings this evening searching for a particular casting with good glass after I found the "perfect" one with bad glass lol...and was successful...so another "simple" Christmas themed build will begin tomorrow. The Moon Eyes collector/friend was quite surprised when he saw the recent van video...and I'm certain he will be pretty surprised at this one too lol.
Merry Christmas jim awesome upgrade to a cool casting. I have this one and the black and copper version that comes on a Coe flat deck truck very cool car
Merry Christmas Neil! I have the black and copper version too -- bought them both at the same time when they had them at Big Lots (which is now out of business by me).
You little rascal, once again you managed to surprise me. "You will keep the color, just decals" - never in my life would I have suspected that you wanted to lead me on the wrong track. Especially when you took the car apart and put in more work than I thought. And then suddenly something appears on the right edge of the picture that is currently very familiar to me. At first I thought you were reporting on it. So that Irvingdale is closing or maybe you were even there, but then it went on with the white toner and the Santa Moon decals and I knew I had fallen for you.😉🙃Chapeau Jim, up until the poster picture you had me where you possibly wanted me to be.I would have also painted the inside of the rims (brake drums), probably silver or chrome, because the white didn't work at all. I have no idea what Maisto was thinking. Fantastic work! All the little details like those on the engine, the license plate or the dashboard. I can't help but be amazed. As announced, not repainted, but greatly enhanced by the small details.
Thanks so much Fritz! I hoped you would be surprised by what I did to this one. I really liked putting the poster on the roof...it made it feel like a commemorative piece for the event. Thanks again for your kind words my friend!
the front wheels with the extra bit sticking out almost looks like drum brakes that are often seen on rat rods. As far as the extra hole in the glass they had a police version and that was so they could melt the cherry top light on it and have some room for the glass to fit.
the decals look 100% true on this casting. also I assume you took the hook and threw it way as far as you could... what were the modelers workign for maisto thinking?
Thanks Lothar! I can't fault the Maisto designers too much because the casting originally towed a trailer...a small one...but it just didn't really go with this build lol
Great job Jim 👍🏻

Great work Dad, gotta love a Maisto sucks they have gotten hard to find for me. Merry Xmas my friend

Thanks! The best part about that hitch was how easily it could be removed lol
Nice build and details 👌 👍
Thanks Joe!
👍 Thx 🇧🇪.
Thanks Rudi!
Love it! Ive got this in a 1/32 scale but its missing the tires lol....
Thanks! It's such a cool casting - I bet it's amazing in 1/32!
@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms well, not in its current state its not...lol
Turned a good looking diecast to a great looking diecast. Looks amazing 😎👍
Thanks so much!
Looks good!!!
Thanks David!
If I had the real car, I would have used a braided hose on the radiator. But for a model, the black hose is much more practical. Nice build!
Agreed...the black hose gave it a little more detail than chrome/braided.
The little subtle changes make a big difference. The cast looks way better. Nicely done👌
Thanks Fernando!
Nice work, Jim. Love Mooneyes.
Thanks so much! I couldn't resist using Santa Moon on something lol
Lots of work on this even though the repaint was minimal. Love the overall concept and the outcome is outstanding! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks so much! I was really happy with how all the little changes turned out!

Noice, Jim. Simple and neat.
Compliments of the Season to you and yours!
Thanks so much Fraser! The best to you and your family as well!
Jim that turned out awesome. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks David! I'm still waiting to hear back from you on the VW giveaway from a week ago or so - please check the Community tab of my page.
No "Gauzy, Gauzy, Gauzy"!
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 had to pass on the Gauzy this time - the amount of glass that actually shows is SO small, it seemed like a waste 🤣🤣🤣

@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms You´re welcome. The twist was completely unexpected, but very enjoyable.
Much better jim yea thank god u got rid of the hitch !! I might just pick up a casting!! Merry Christmas to u and your wonderful family!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family too Eddie! And you know what they say....GO TEAM HONCHO! 🤣🤣🤣

Ahhhhh...that explains the extra hole in the glass. I bet this casting looked cool in a police version.
