      I'm deeply moved by another sincere comment of yours and can't thank you enough for such heartfelt feedback and just the time it takes to write such thoughtful responses. It's incredibly rewarding to hear that my journey and the transparency with which I share it not only helps demystify the process but also fosters a sense of connection and understanding. Your words remind me of the profound impact of sharing our stories and the power of learning to bridge gaps, alleviate fears, and bring us closer together. And especially closer to ourselves. When I start to feel negative towards someone, I almost always immediately question myself on how I'm doing in the same area. Example, if I'm upset because someone isn't taking care of themselves (I have this going on, too) I ask: ok.. am I doing the best I can to take care of myself? Which usually leads me to at least 2-3 things I should be doing. I really liked seeing your breakdown of that one!

    Why does the mind allow itself to get annoyed or angry with a partner?
    When I asked "myself" this question I realized related core components: 1. I've trained this habit over time. 2. the need to control others. 3. my incessant judgement of others.
    The path to peace and harmony has been to radically accept people as they are. Offer advice and assistance when they ask for it. Sure, I can help influence, but ultimately it's their life.
    The rest of branches and most of the tree disappeared when I addressed the roots.
    Releasing the things I have no control over. I can only control how I serve them and the state of mind I maintain while doing do.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Just did a quick emotion mind map session to understand feelings I experienced recently.
    And this helped me a ton. I was able to uncover that my emotions were triggered by a past event that for some reason didn't come to my mind. I feel more confident now that I know where it comes from and also to talk about it with my partner.
    Thanks Sheng !

    First thank you for your trust. I wasn't exepecting you use such private examples.
    I've been using mind maps first for this type of exercices years ago, before expanding to well all areas of my life basically. Because emotions are not my forte (autism) mine are events and thoughts centered. I try to find the root cause of the emotion without naming it. It's more a scale from great to worst and intensity. It helps me more. Because that wheel is too confusing for me :) I also add a trigger part. Because some of my disabilities are environnement dependent it helps to either plan or avoid for the future.
    Lastly for the bullet point part, it's more a table. I use it like you and add a solution/action column. For the things I can tweak and adjust again for the future. Sometime I mindmap for teh insight and others to "fix" an issue.
    Well that was a long comment. Have a nice day :)

    • @ShengHuang
      @ShengHuang  Год назад +1

      Nymphalia, you are actually the perfect example of someone using the full potential of this tool because honestly it is how I organize and make sense of many aspects of my life too - to the extent I now think in mind maps! Haha made a video on that too: ruclips.net/video/FP8HBa7Lbyg/видео.html
      You know it's fascinating that many of my coaching clients are neurodivergent and use mind maps to parse through everything from emotions, to life goals, and of course for work. I love that your variation is 1) nameless and 2) based on intensity. I'm curious how you label or annotate your map to represent that intensity. I feel like reading someone else's map is like getting a sneak peak into the way they think (i.e. their minds).
      I agree that identifying triggers are key - those are "Events" in my EFM (Events, Feelings, Mindsets) framework, and is the basis of 2nd order thinking in emotion mapping. Which leads into your use of the Insight/Fix table. Very cool! Thank you so much for sharing your approach!

    Great video. I can see how I can use the idea and the feelings wheel as a therapist. How come you did not map the insights - fear, anger, etc? Is there a limit to how much you can map such that you have to think the "nth" degree linearly? (as in the insights).

    • @ShengHuang
      @ShengHuang  Год назад

      Thank you Muya! I live by the wisdom of a former mentor: "sufficient to purpose". I stopped mapping at the 3rd-4th order emotions and drivers because it was sufficient for me to draw bullet point insights from the map. There isn't really a limit to how much you can map and you can keep going depending on how deep you want to go, which I highly recommend to anyone who has not done a deep dive before. However, my purpose this time was to deal with my real time emotions in a practical way i.e. translate them into communicable words and actions.

    Do you use mindmaps as a way of taking notes during meetings/training? Would you ever take notes using lined paper?

    • @ShengHuang
      @ShengHuang  Год назад +1

      Yes I do and have made a video on it: ruclips.net/video/UDkspKf8Pms/видео.html. I'll often will draw multiple maps when I see patterns and start connecting the dots, a sort of distillation process. The initial map is just to grab information and the other maps for dot connection. This usually happens half way or towards of the meeting when I've absorbed enough information and have it mapped out in front of me.
      I haven't really taken linear notes on lined paper in a while though I do journal nearly every morning (on lined paper!) to get my thoughts on paper. They have separate uses for me.

      However for a teacher, I'm assuming you'll want to do live streaming. I work with my mind mapping coaching clients via Zoom which has a plugin to connect your iPad directly to your computer either via Airplay or lightning cable.
      I highly recommend buying an iPad that's compatible with the gen 2 Apple Pencil or an Android tablet with an active pen.
      Great questions. I actually cover these requirements to get started in mind mapping in the upcoming ebook (free for Mind Map Nation members): www.mindmapnation.com/books

      Oh also check out Loom. It's great if you just need to walk through your screen without the need to connect an iPad. I do session review recordings for my clients through it. Good luck and let's keep spreading knowledge :)

      @@ShengHuang Thank you for this quick reply. Some background, I have a 2018 iPad Pro and have been using and teaching mind mapping for over 20+ years. I stopped about five years ago and I've started up again because I want to return to teaching it. Used iPad with MindManager on Zoom once last week but on my desktop. Prefer hand noting them. I will research the topic on RUclips and see what I find. Tried Notability and stopped 2 years ago. Had so many problems with it working on my iPad. After the fourth call to Apple I quit. Working with MM on using Nebo, don't know how it compares. I do wonder if Notability has improved enough for me to try it again. You have your pic in the corner while illustrating the MM, I thought I watched on a RUclips video a sophisticated app was needed for that. I think you're saying you do it in Notability? FYI I learned MM from Tony's himself while my Dad was stationed in England. My teaching/coaching focus is for nonfiction writers at the moment. I'm also a certified master coach (18 years ago).

      @@ShengHuang Aha, forgot, you record these. That's because you're promotion your wonderful community. I not. I don't do any promotion except referrals. I may try it but my backend is full most of the time and I'm semi-retired now and don't want too much work. Already built my company and sold it at 55.

      That's very cool! I'm glad to learn about that piece of history :) I'd love to see how you map some time - I started a community precisely because I don't know all the use cases...MM techniques are always evolving to the user's mind, which, given our diversity, is endless.
      Notability has worked very well for me - maybe give it another shot? You might want to check out Loom (loom.com) for easy tutorial from the computer screen without any editing.
      Haha I heard a saying that if you love what you do, you're technically retired. So now I'm just building towards more financial sustainability ;) It's really a joy to make things that help folks!

    The acceleration increase on minutes 19-21 🥲 a bit hard to follow when you are talking too fast in the deep topics~

      Hi Ayya, I'm glad you're finding value in this video - it took a while to make precisely because our emotions are deep and complex! I wrote out those insights from minutes 19-21 with some elaboration here: www.mindmapnation.com/articles/emotion-mind-mapping 😊
