I got west too and thought i am unlucky. Thanks for the video. You move the bed and make the room roomy. 👍 But your bed is blocking the heater? Would it be cold in the winter?
Also, you take bus to main campus? I think it is difficult to walk in the winter?
If taking bus to main campus, I think i need to get out of my residence at least 1/2 or 45mins before class?
I moved the bed after winter so it was okay, but it was never cold at any point. The bus to campus once you are on it is like 5-9 minutes, so if you leave your dorm 5 minutes before the bus comes you can usually time it right and be on campus within 15 minutes of leaving your dorm. The walk to the west is awesome, it's on the main road so they clear the snow off of it first so the walk in winter was really nice.

the double room used to be a common room but they converted it into a double room, so it has lots of space. In the video i meant to say double room but i said common room

Thanks for the video, very helpful! One question about the room size. Is it big enough to fit a digital piano with stand? It's slightly smaller than an upright piano

I was thinking about bringing my piano to res my first year, I would say yes but it would be a bit tight on space, If your piano has a stand that you place it on, it would be perfect because you could just slide it under your bed when not in use. I would suggest waiting a bit and bringing it later in the year to figure out whether it would fit. There is a grand piano in the main auditorium/classroom on West that I talked about but did not show. I played it a lot when there were no classes. There are also piano rooms on the main campus. It is about 20 private rooms that all have one piano in them, music students use them to practice piano and other instruments but anyone can walk in and use them! I usually go in the morning or afternoon because during the day a lot of the rooms are used up.
Does the desk come with a chair or do we have to buy our own?
The desk comes with a black wheelie chair!
you mentioned that douglas is best for 1st and 4th floor since there arent any dons. why is that a plus?
Dons are only on 2nd and 3rd floors on all west campus dorms, not as many noise complaints, but most dons are super nice and chill on west campus!

Does phase 2 look the same?
phase 2 has the exact same layout, the only difference is the bathrooms in some of the houses are outdated, apparently they will be renovating them this summer
Hey, I’m going to Queen’s this year ( studying computer science) I was wondering if have any recommendations for the dorm ? :)
Definitely bring a shower caddy, shower Flip Flops and it's going to get really hot so a fan for sure!
