@@Jafmanz damn this is like 4 years ago lol. But I have a 225lb ohp on my channel. You cant see the legs, but it was strict :) Edit: Also have a 203lb OHP with full view of my body. Also a much lighter BW
I have to say Brian that you are already doing something amazing with your life, working hard and being nice to others. It is incredible how much this channel grew and how much it will grow, because you deserved it. You always produced quality content which, obviously, your subscribers appreciate so much. I'm happy that Neversate is being expanded (both online and the gym itself). Thanks to your knowledge so many others (including myself of course) made a lot of improvements. Therefore, we (I hope I'm speaking for everyone, and if not then for the majority for sure) can't thank you enough. Looking forward to whatever comes in the future. Peace brother!
Your cheat sheet and technique vids have changed the way I approach the big lifts, this info is so valuable. Thank you so much. And I hope the MRI has positive news.
Another kick-ass vid. Just wanted to let you know how much you've inspired me man. Not only am I stronger in life, but for the military as well. You've also inspired me to compete in my first strongman competition, the ft bliss strongest man competition. Thanks so much for all the tips and drills bro. Trust me when I say they've been put to good use.
These cheat sheets are gold!! Happy to be back in the gym after a month hiatus. Started a new career and the new hours threw me off and required me to change my whole routine, so I do full body workouts now. Dont want to make any excuses though. I shouldve figured it out right away, but now I have to regain some ground. Your videos continue to inspire and motivate me though. You have some of the best content for fitness on youtube. Much respect brotha!
I was looking for this video two days ago. Must have read my mind. Have been using your linear progression template for my lifts and have been getting really good results. My OHP is the strongest it's ever been and my shoulders feel healthier than they were before I destroyed my AC playing rugby. Thanks for the consistent good info, you're helping and inspiring a lot of people.
I don't normally comment on these but had to give you a big shout out for gains I have seen using your lifting program. Just finished up the free template you detailed a few months back and saw at least a 10# PR in each lift - strict press, bench, deadlift, and squat. Thanks for the awesome programming!
Anthony Winfield the linear progression one didn't work out for me because I'm an idiot who can't self-regulate properly, but the percentage based program in three waves is paying off for me big time. I've had a bunch of setbacks this year and I'm getting rep prs. Despite my setbacks, I bet I'm still gonna hit my lifting goals this year. Guy is a genius.
Gained 40lbs on the OHP following your program(185 to 225), that did transfer to my incline bench (+30 to 335)) and my flat bench (+25 to 405). Thanks for the program!!!!
Bought a shirt.. now to get an OHP Pr IN THAT SHIRT! you're awesome Brian. In a world of RUclips videos straying away from information your videos are a breath of fresh air.
15 years of exhaling on the concentric, this video changed a lot for me, nice one! I believe it's helped stop my injury being aggravated. Brilliant channel
Honestly, you are my favorite lifting channel! I will give this tips a shot tonight since OHP is one of my harder exercises. Just started the 5x5 stronglifts 5 weeks ago and loving it. Also going to add rack pull and sandbag carries into my routine that I watched from your other videos. Keep up the good work!
Wow you are a beast brian! this ia the strongest strict press I have ever seen on youtube beside klokov..143 kg is very very impressive. I would like a bent over row video as well.
Always amazing informative videos and the quality of the content is skyrocketing! All the example segments should have taken huge time editing so thank you for taking the time bro. Good luck with all the projects going on and the coming ones!
I've been using your cue to think about opening the window and stick your head out the window. I felt silly the first time I did it but the extra strength more than made up for it. Incredibly helpful tip.
The like dislike ratio is off the charts! You're doing God's work brother! I don't think anyone can even begin to imagine how many lives you're affecting positively and improving through these videos, including mine! Much love from India!
Great advice. One thing I would recommend is wrist wraps if you have small feminine type wrists but if you have thick Fred Flintstone type wrists you will probably be alright.
DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was taking a breath in between reps and always lost power towards the end but did my 5 reps In one breath while squeezing the bar ike you said and I'm hitting new pr's, you're the shit thank you so much
My new mantra in the gym, whenever the reps are hard, or I feel like giving up, is WWBD - What Would Brian Do? I'm pretty sure he's never quit one set early, or decided not to do something because it's too hard. So I suck it up and just do it. Thanks for the inspiration Brian!
These are great, i live in MB but i think your gym is a bit of a hike for me but thank you. I used your linear progression program and man is it working for me. The bent over row cheat sheet would be great.
Man, this is the video I needed. My strict OHP has stalled and I find myself missing cues out of frustration. Thanks Brian, I'm gonna dial it back some and use this video to see if I can get myself out of this rut.
Love the video Brian. I definitely needed this. I would love to see a bent over row video along with a ohp with leg drive and front squat cheat sheet. Keep up the good work man.
I would like to see a BARBELL ROW CHEAT SHEET video. I have a lot of troubles timing my breathing during this exercise. And also one for the PULL UP would be nice ( the same problem as with the barbell row - you can maybe combine it in one video ). And at last... I just want to say THANK YOU. I love the stuff you are doing. Can't express with words how much you inspire and motivate me. Im looking forward to buying a T-Shirt and sending you a Bulgarian flag :D I love the Suffer Beautifully and Die Empty thing ( campaign maybe :D don't know how it's called ), it just motivates me to get everything possible from my life and always live full of happiness. I will deffinitely do something amazing with my life ( work hard and be nice to others :D) as you like to say. Continue doing what you are doing because you are good at it ... and also CRUSH SOME DAMN PRs ! :D
Closing in on 225! Probably not happening before the end of the year because I'm also chasing 315 bench and that is taking priority, but who knows? Maybe the cheat sheet will do it for me.
I'm going to be putting a lot of this into practice. I've gotten to 190 strict pretty much on my own (230 with minimal leg drive on the non-strict press). I want to see if I can push this even further.
Hi Brian!!! Great video as always. I've discovered your chanel recently and have watched almost all you produced and its really a great, great job and you have an extraordinary attitude. 2 questions: - The Brazilian flag its from one of your clients or some fan donated to you? - Many coaches advocate 0 overhead movements for people with poor mobility / scapular elevation. Whats your opinion on that topic? Thank you for your time and all the wisdom shared
Great video! I really appreciate the effort you put into youtube. A bent over row video would very helpful. I pray that you and your family have peace.
could you do a video or answer me How to properly do ramping sets? i think you do them with barbell rows and deadlifts please help me/explain and why its effective
Hey Brian what about flexing your lats or engaging your lats in the strict press just like the bench press. I always found that as the best cue for my strict press because I can use my lats to hold the weight in the front rack position creating a good strong shelf
Hi Brian! Started following/watching you since Elitefts podcast (been a while I guess), started myself on a ~ 13 weeks press prep (for fun). Now...a question I have is: How do you get into a better pressing position? ie. mobility, flexbility, range of motion kind of work. I simply don't get myself to a good enough position mid-to-lockout range due to...all kinds of things? Injury not included that's good.
A question for the Oct. Q&A: If I want to get stronger I should train with high intensity - 80-85 % 1RM. But with such intensity I can"t train the movement frequently because of lack of recovery - only 2 days per week. Should I decrease the intensity to increase the frequency? What is better to boost my OHP PR: to train 2 times per week with 80 % 1RM or to train 3 times per week with 70 % 1RM ? Thank you
Perhaps now i'll be able to get my OHP up, thanks Brian. Something I'm personally very interested in is shoulder health, my shoulders have some structural issues making them my weak point and almost always sore. Seeing as you tweaked your shoulder, it might be a good time for such a video when you get a chance :)
Excelent stuff as always, Brian! I wish i would ve followed your stuff much earlier, it really helps! One question: What shoes best to wear in the overheadpress, and WHY? Barefoot/Vibram five fingers VS Lifting shoes?
Bent over rows yees!! Would absoluteley love to. What are your thoughts on it as well. Do you think you should be able to row as much as you bench at the very minimum for example? Great as always. Love these Cheat sheets. Looking forward to the guest ( Brian shaw?!!?!? ) and the MRI results. Much respect
Brian, in your academic travels, have you investigated mixing endurance training with strength? I.e. Alex viada / strong man with marathon or ironman training.
Hey Brian, watching your channel on a daily basis now. Whenever it gets heavy on strict press (1rep max) I almost faint just from holding the bar at the bottom. The bar is not resting on my shoulder bones so no arteries are being pinched. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks for these videos. Keep it up
I just hit a 210 strict OHP today. Thanks for all the OHP videos you have put up Brian, they have been extremely helpful!
💪🏿👊🏿
😎😎😎
strict? feet together no hip hinge?

Cheat sheet for bosu ball squat
And smith-machine sumo deadlifts.
Why not smith machine half squats? See most of the guys in my gym doing that!

YES TO BENT OVER ROW CHEET SHEET! With some info on the variations aka the 'constant tension' barbell row vs the pendlay row.
Great advice. One thing I would recommend is wrist wraps if you have small feminine type wrists but if you have thick Fred Flintstone type wrists you will probably be alright.

Thanks for the video man. My OHP is my weakest lift, so this helps.
Just in time for push day! Thanks Brian!

Great stuff! I've learned so much from you, Brian! Many thanks!

Really want one for the row!!! Great movement!
I’ve got a snape nose... how do i press heavy without ending up like voldemort? I swear i flip AND pack and still get a chin/scnoz concussion

Hell yeah another dope vid about to hit 2 plates on this tomorrow let's go
I'd love to have a cheat sheet for the barbell row. For now I'm using your do and donts video
Your channel is highly, highly underrated. This quality of content is comparable to Juggernaut fitness.
Videos on both movements would be great!
I love these kind of videos

Bicep curl cheat sheet!!!
Ha...
Seriously though, a “how to” or “cheat sheet” video on deadlift variations? Paused, rack pull, isometric, etc.
I love your channel, thank you for the content
Love this series!
This video is very BUENO! Bent over row - VERY BUENO! Visitor - VERY MUCHO BUENO!
Good stuff Brian!
