Software has plateaud, and as such hardware innovations no longer really exist, only gimmicks and such. That's why the switch succeeded where it's competitors failed, it pushed the market forward in a direction that continued to make a difference: Convenience. If the other companies were smart, they'd follow suit. Unfortunately they don't have the exclusives to back it up.

The game developers are so out of their minds today that they expect you to pay more money for less content (content that is sometimes worse than games made in the early 2000s) and get mad at the player base when they refuse to go along with it (because it can't be their fault that no one wants to pay for a buggy, unfinished, awful game that is full of micro transactions and artificial game lengtheners, no! It has to be the player's fault!).

I never felt interested in getting a PC until I saw that price of the PS5 Pro. And this is why, for consoles, I still play on both Xbox 360 and PS3. The Xbox 360 has great games to play with friends and the PS3 doesn't require a subscription to play online.
I decided to just sell my ps5 and double down on my pc, I ended up repurchasing most of my library anyway so I could mod them. Most upcoming console games have gone woke anyway, the upcoming Wolverine was honestly the last straw for me.
Imho steam should just start the steam machine, you already got the steam deck which is straight up the mobile gaming device now. Steam doing a PC for the price of console would probably just destroy the competition. As usual when valve actually does something

But hey, the X-Box has one game, a very cool but also very niche collection of classic games from Rareware. X-Box fans stay winning. (Also I definitely didn't buy a used X-Box One just to play the XBLA port of Banjo Kazooie and literally no other game since I had a PC and Switch for years and Microsoft untimely got none of my money since I bought bought both second hand. I bought a PS5 on top of the PC that I bought for over a grand. I didn't want to go half measures, so I bought a PC for about $1500. Basically, I wanted to play anything that came out for the next five years at least in 1080p. I'm playing new releases without worrying about if I can run them. Meanwhile, the PS5... I play 1 game on my PS5, Mortal Kombat 1. This is because Warner Bros' PC ports are dreadful and even Mortal Kombat X can throw an absolute fit on good PCs, if particle effects are even mentioned. I don't really even like MK1 all that much, MK11 was so much better but I'm kind of seeing my investment through with MK1 before adding Warner Bros to my list of 'do not buy' publishers. Honestly, this is the first console generation, I've ever lived through, in which I've not touched my current gen machine for weeks or even months on end. I actually went through three PS2s, because I played them so much that they died of exhaustion in the space of six years. Meanwhile, my PS5 looks like it was just unboxed. Oh and the memory on the PS5 is dreadful. I can have three games on it at a time. Who in God's name gave that thing such a pathetic hard drive, when every game is 100GB, at minimum? At least I'll save money, next console generation, because I'm sure as hell not buying a PS6 or an Xbox... whatever we're calling it.
I'm satisfied with my XBOX One. It plays a lot of the games I can't/don't want to play through Win 10, and on physical media. That said. once my desktop is set up with newer hardware and can dual boot into Win 7 and Win 10, then I'm covered on Titan Quest II and such.
I agree with most of your points, except for when you said that most of Sony’s single player games are “glorified movies.” They don’t release that often anymore, but when one does, you know it’s going te be a polished and fantastic experience. And Sony’s VR library is actually not that bad either, Synapse is a masterpiece.

I bought a PS5 Slim last Saturday because I already have over 150 digital games on my PS4 Pro, lots of them came with free PS5 versions, Gran Turismo's 7 Sophy and 120Hz mode. Very silent too It really feels like a PS4 Deluxe than a new generation.
I had a seriesS and sold it to buy a gaming monitor for my new PC setup. Best decision I ever made! The series S is such a scam!! The games are overpriced and even if ur going to use Gamepass, you only have like 800GB of storage, AND GET THIS, if you use an external Hard-drive for more space, then each time u wanna play a game on said drive, you must COPY THE DAMN GAME OVER TO THE SSD and juggle games around!!! 120fps is possible but would look like crap. As a developer, you have to compromise a lot more to hit 60fpa, mesh interaction, effects, world density and much more besides fidelity to hit 60fps. 9:03 Not exactly the same, they just need to have some level of parity between the two boxes. For example, Jedi Survivor on Series S doesn't have a performance mode, it only runs at 30 fps. The Series' X on the other hand does have a performance mode and the quality mode. Essentially, the Series S version of a release needs to be content complete when compared to the Series X. That in some cases has caused some devs to cut back on some ideas because they know that they'll have to release it on an underpowered machine if they want to release it on Xbox.
PC is of course the best platform but I could see buying digital games on Xbox and having an Xbox as a stopgap while you save up for PC. Ofc that means your games that are cross purchase compatible are stuck on the Microsoft store but at least you can play them on both PC and console

9:03 Not exactly the same, they just need to have some level of parity between the two boxes. For example, Jedi Survivor on Series S doesn't have a performance mode, it only runs at 30 fps. The Series' X on the other hand does have a performance mode and the quality mode.
Essentially, the Series S version of a release needs to be content complete when compared to the Series X. That in some cases has caused some devs to cut back on some ideas because they know that they'll have to release it on an underpowered machine if they want to release it on Xbox.

PC is of course the best platform but I could see buying digital games on Xbox and having an Xbox as a stopgap while you save up for PC. Ofc that means your games that are cross purchase compatible are stuck on the Microsoft store but at least you can play them on both PC and console

Well, the good thing I bought the PS5 from a friend who hardly used it for 360 dollars, but even then I used the Switch more, so yeah......
(So, in hindsight, I did was lessened my friend's burden for what's that worth.)

Been with xbox since the original but now I joined pc this year, admittedly I'm liking using my xbox along side my pc, my xbox indie library is very wonderful, your right though about the space, big games will definitely make you play office & make room XD

The reason why is the culture war. Developers need feedback and feedback loops. Even when gaming was niche/subculture this was important.
The collectivist Japanese culture allows developers to make political and deeply spiritual games without backlash and focus up. And the anticapitalist anti sink or swim support culture in Japanese nerd space's allows Japanese developers to take risks
Developers that have to live this shit arent gonna put up with 4chan Incel style culture in gaming. And gamers aren't gonna out put with design by committee bullcrap.
