Chef Chase is back and doing what he does best 😋 only delicious food, I love your SA slangs, Gauteng comes from the Sotho and Tswana languages, and it means "Place of Gold". check the history of Johannesburg "Gold Rush in 1886" your new classes look good on you, young Chef
I love it 💝 now I also learn a new way to make pap I tried to make it last month and I don't know what I did but it was super stiff even when I had it again the next day it was dry dry dry I couldn't deal 😂 I need a husband that will be able to cook I am a foodie 😅
Fish and grits origin supposedly started with the Gullah geechee people in the Carolina states. The natives told them about grits , and the Gullah ppl worked mostly in the low country/sea islands of South Carolina, and already had mostly a seafood diet, so they combined the Native American grits with their fish and the seasoning and that’s the fish and grits origin.
@@OurJourney2SouthAfrica the one with Flavors is "Instant Porridge" (there are many Instant Porridge brands & flavors), you just add warm water, stir and it's ready. The one I'm talking about is prepared on a stove using "Maize Meal" just like how prepared Grits but it is smooth
Mama Price, please try Kota. It's a local dish and I'm sure Chase will love it. It's bread, fried eggs and French fries all together 🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂. Chelci looks like a picky eater but I'm sure she will love it
I'm still trying to figure out the porridge. We bought a bag that showed vanilla porridge, and the consistency was not the same as grits. If the porridge you speak of is also used to make pap, then that's the same thing we used to make the cheese grits. Let us know how it works out.
@@OurJourney2SouthAfrica it's the same way as you cook grits but doesn't have to be thick and you don't add those ingredients you added, just plain grits. Once it has cooked which takes about 30-45 minutes you pour in a bowl then add a spoon of butter then your desired amount of sugar, adding milk is optional. Those flavoured porridge are processed, which is why they're quick to prepare them.
😂😂😂😂 checking that isn't poisoned Ooooh Chase so He can have a piece,Chase kills food But His in that Age Our Afrikaans boy, Mommy watch out our Chase is in his Afrikaans Era❤❤
Grits definitely is Lesheleshele in Sesotho don't know about other S.African languages but we have it across, we consume as breakfast instead of making it savory we have it with sugar, might add in butter but it's personal preference
@@OurJourney2SouthAfrica we eat pap 3/4 times a day in Namibia and across Africa. Morning pap is soft but during the day we cook our pap hard and serve it with meat and vegetables.
hahaha did Chase just answer "no" in Afrikaans? Do you need a fork with that? Nee!🤣I'm so here for that!!! 🥰Please learn more Chase, it's a beautiful language that was created by my ancestors, created literally in the kitchen! Before the colonizers ran off with our language and claimed it as theirs 😅 but that's a story for a whole other day lol Oh you made my day...baie dankie Chase, omdat jy probeer, jy steel my hart! That fish and pap just gave me the same craving hahaha You guys should try snoek, it has more bones but tastes so so soooooo delicious! Thanks for the awesome vlog fam ✌ ✌
@OurJourney2SouthAfrica at Checkers you will find grits in their healthy section (forgot their brand name at this point). I was at checkers and i saw it and i thought of y'all. I think even in pick n pay their healthy section. Please check it out.

I hear Chase speaking some Afrikaans ❤
Yes, he's learning.

😆
Please get Chase on the Kids News Room show or YoTV. He'd do so well there.
He is quite a character! 😁
What flour. or any other grain used . Pap is made with corn meal
Grits look what we would call Porridge that we eat for breakfast
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I wonder if it's the same, called by different names.
@@OurJourney2SouthAfrica exactly the same
Ahhh, I see now. So, are there different types of porridge? We tried vanilla flavor porridge, and the texture was smooth, not gritty like grits.

Chase is definitely getting the hang of our languages. Heard how he said "dankie"😂. Ya'll please invite me over I want to taste the cheese grits.😢
He also said "nie"
It's challenging, but he's catching on. 😁
Chef👨🍳 Chase back in the kitchen.
Yep! 😆
How do you fry your fish ? Do you use egg as well or just the flour?
We use IWISA Super Maize Meal. We pour a small amount of the maize in a freezer bag (or similar) and add seasonings in the bag.
Awww shucks now, you all are cooking fish and pap/grits!! You are talking our language, be sure to put some in the freezer for us 😅😅
We love it! 😋
Mama Price, please try Kota. It's a local dish and I'm sure Chase will love it. It's bread, fried eggs and French fries all together 🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂. Chelci looks like a picky eater but I'm sure she will love it
That sounds delicious! 😋 We'll have to find it.
Mom:"Are you cooking or dancing?"
Chase:"Both". Hahahaaaa
Isjaa Chase - That's the Mzanzi way broer! 😀😀
This boy! 😂
Lol Chase is speaking Afrikaans, even. Twee. Drie
😁
Oh grits it's motogo(porridge) we eat it in the morning then add butter and sugar ❤
I wanna try your way of doing grits

Yep! That was his way of sneaking a piece. 😆
Chase is right. After the chef has cooked everyone else does the other duties like laying the table
I must teach them to do this for me when I cook! 😆

We LOVEit! 😋 I recently heard that some people will have it with sugar.
Family ❤
Hello Fam 👋🏿
Back to being first.😂
🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳😂😂😂
So Grits is literally soft porridge in South Africa not Pap! 😂😂 the way he pronounced Gauteng!
😆 🤣 😂
I heard him counting in Afrikaans. Pap and fish we call it in your neighbouring country, Namibia 🇳🇦
He's trying hard to pick up the language. Pap/grits sound like a popular meal in a lot of cultures.
@@OurJourney2SouthAfrica we eat pap 3/4 times a day in Namibia and across Africa. Morning pap is soft but during the day we cook our pap hard and serve it with meat and vegetables.
Gauteng loosely means "where the Gold is" ,the language is in seTswana/seSotho.
Got it! 👍🏿

I'm still trying to figure it out. I'll have to look up miele rice.
Hey family ❤
Hey hey 👋🏾
Nitya isdudu ne fish sana 🤣🤣😅
It really is delicious. The texture is crispy. 😋
The pap is stressing me, but if thats how yall love it then ❤
You should try it! 😆
hey family
Hi there 👋🏿
Hiii❤
Hi 👋🏾 ❤️
Idokwe leli is not pap. You need someone to teach you how to make pap
Yes indeed! I want to learn how. 🙋🏿♀️ I have a few meals in mind that I would love to try with FRESH pap. So far, we've only tasted ready-made.
Good on Chase for doing the counting in Afrikaans 🔥
