  • Drummer Franklin Vanderbilt grew up on Chicago's West Side and attended Carl Schurz High School. After studying music at Easter Illinois University, he made his way out West where he's worked with Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder and, since 2007, has been lead drummer for Lenny Kravitz's band. He stopped by WGN Morning News on Oct. 23, 2019.

    Franklin is my nephew in whom I am well pleased. He was the only grandchild my mother baptised at 8 months old. He asked me once why was he the only one...I told him that he was in this season for God's divine reason, and God had a purpose, for his life and it is perfect.

    God she’s awful….(the interviewer) but as someone else mentioned. Franklin handled this beautifully!
