The first 8:31 of this video is pure gold. So many gems about life in general through the prism of the sport of body building. My favorite is, "Comparison is the thief of joy." As a 65-year old new to weight training, I have benefited tremendously from the videos. I also recognize so many of the life lessons Mike shares of his own experiences that I, too, have learned the hard way--in competition as an athlete and as a coach, in my professional career, and in my relationships as a husband, father and friend. I hope the 20-somethings and 30-somethings watching these videos are smarter than I was at that age and take to heart what Mike is teaching.
Jay cutler just posted a good one too about Fit At 50 or something like that. How he's thinking of dialing back from full competitive like training and finding balance with normal life. Its a good video I just watched it before coming over to Mike
It is insane how helpful your training style has been for not only the exercises themselves but also changed my focus to good movement and mobility to facilitate even better growth. Insane, man👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Hey brother. I’m an middle aged man and I appreciate your delivery. You’ve helped me greatly in my goal to build muscle. Your cues and philosophy are seriously priceless. I appreciate you, very much! Thanks brother
The way you explained your experience is a lot like how actually working in the music industry is. People really look up to it but are surprised when I tell them how brutal it is and how I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone unless its just something they can’t help doing.
I am so glad you said that Hammer Strength machine sucks. I never could get that thing to feel right. I always go back to it and try, cause its one of the only ones thats around. Now I can stop trying.
As honest as they come. Very humble. Most would see an old pic and brag about "back in the day". Mike slaps you with reality. Hows the new shoulder mike??
Agree with you on the supplement companies, I'm also a fan of Animal but having known people like Evan Centopani personally & having trained with him going back to when he got his pro card then won the NY Pro, I'm actually shocked he stayed with them for so long. I cant think of any other athletes that have been with one company for this long.
@@martinvulu1848 yeah Evans a good guy and awesome to train with. He was with them when I first met him in like 2009 and I'm pretty sure he still is or at least still uses their products.
Mike I took your advice last week and squirted all over but now im banned from every major gym in the country, what should I do? (had the best back pump of my life btw)
My bad. In the pre op ish pic I commented good luck etc. I’ve been watching a ton of this gift of a monsters videos since finding him a couple weeks ago. But they have all been almost a year ago etc. Seems in this latest video he mentions the shoulder replacement is to come soon. Hope it all goes super smooth! Thanks for all the information you share. Was just workin on the TRex Traps:). 🍻🤙🏽
Hi mike. What are your throughts on volume? Im wondering if im doing too many sets and exercises per session. Tbh i dont really count them. I just workout for an hr - hr and a half, feel a big pump and go. Would b good to hear your take on it. Keep up the good work!
Honestly whatever works for you we’re all different. As long as you can train harder than last time and next workout you can do an extra rep from last week your doing great
"Remember when everyone thought Chrysler 300's were the shit.. now they're just a piece of shit, they were always a piece of shit" *Me who drives an 06 Chrysler 300* at least it's not the base model 🥲😂😂
Big Mike, I don't know how many current bodybuilders you watch but out of the current crop you have seen who in your opinion has the best form in the gym?
Mike, can you please tell the tank top story? Maybe on Bro Chat? A few videos back you were laughing about a "tank top" but didn't want to say why, and I'm so curious. 😂
I need some help. All I have is a few Walmart dumbbells and a treadmill. My 15 years old is getting into weightlifting. He's over six feet tall and over 250 pounds. I need a push, pull, legs work out with only dumbbells, oh and a 75-pound bucket of lead. He's going to outgrow the weights that I have quickly. Any help would be great.
Hahaha the barber shop thing hah but I just got checked for sleep apnea and the doc said My was soo bad I was breathing only 50% of my sleep. I saying this because he thinks the neck plays a big part in developing it
Lol the concept and perception from others about Bodybuilding Is hilarious sometimes, You can feel huge and have worked so incredibly hard to achieve a physique but be completely broke and have practically nothing other than that.. Then others look at you and think you must be some professional athlete or you're the hardest working person of all time.. Meanwhile I'm broke AND pretty freakin lazy but have a decent looking physique and It makes people view me a certain way :P
To your opening 5 minutes. No, that is not surprising. Anyone with a half functioning brain knows that if someone says "im a bodybuilder" and they are not a household name...they are broke.

Been looking for a shortcut channel...
Now you've found it it's time to blow up your back 👊🏻
...get those tyrannosaurus traps.... Getting my back like Dorian Yates
Big Mike is that real friend you need to tell you shit straight up😂😂😂
I found this channel about a week ago now and I can honestly say, I think it’s the best fitness/bodybuilding channel on RUclips.
By far...implement what Mike preaches, and you're basically guaranteed gains. It's absolutely wild 💯
This comment didnt age well.

He’s on to us all. No more staying lovingly into his eyes, start watching whatever he’s been talking about in these things….
High five from TX, just got hooked on your videos.
😊 Mike you are very humble. ❤❤
Lol the Chrysler 300 reference. Bringing back the good old days.
The way you explained your experience is a lot like how actually working in the music industry is. People really look up to it but are surprised when I tell them how brutal it is and how I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone unless its just something they can’t help doing.
Loved this chat and the training tips! Thank you
You made it way easier showing how to take weight off the shoulders during arm workouts. I have a bad shoulder so its awesome!
Can’t wait for WYCKED Neck training cues LOL
Love the honesty!
What are you doing gazing lovingly in my eyes 😂😂😂
I am so glad you said that Hammer Strength machine sucks. I never could get that thing to feel right. I always go back to it and try, cause its one of the only ones thats around. Now I can stop trying.
high five from tx also, love the videos. RealWorld perception to bodybuilding. Have been doing it your way and can feel the difference, thanks.
"Comparison is the thief of joy" that's pretty cool. Note to self, don't buy a Hammer Strength high row a or a Chrysler 300.
😂 u look good Mike , I am sure it's not photoshop 😅!!! You are too modest. Love your videos, very honest and straight shooter advise
That thumbnail is crazy!
10:40 your super fan made an appearance 😂. Would literally crap myself if I was that person
As honest as they come. Very humble. Most would see an old pic and brag about "back in the day". Mike slaps you with reality. Hows the new shoulder mike??

It's interesting to hear because I love Animal products (not all). Evan CARRIED them for a while.

Big Brother Mike was on his period today. He was speaking his truth and hating on everything. No candy ass sugar coating.
Still don’t have tyrannosaurus traps

Hammer Strength kit is very poor IMO, the angles are usually incorrect.
You forgot about "Val Kilmer"
Stop walking by
Can anybody tell me what kicks he’s wearin
Hammer strength sucks,i changed gyms for better equipment.

So… you train in Mexico?? 🇲🇽 lol
Truth man I enjoy training but it cant be how I make a living. No genes for that lol
wow - that collection of tatoos qualifies as moving art
Drugs are expensive
Are you sarcastically saying Ronnie Coleman was an idiot for lifting so heavy??
To your opening 5 minutes. No, that is not surprising. Anyone with a half functioning brain knows that if someone says "im a bodybuilder" and they are not a household name...they are broke.
Cynical fuq... I love it
💯👍🏻
