By far Detective Carpenter was the greatest witness in the case and so cool the way he kept referring to Brooks by his name or saying “it was YOU, Darryll Brooks”. Brooks was trying to act like a professional when "Carpe" was around but a total bumblefuck when he wasn't

To be fair, he was one of 5 L.E.O.s (law enforcement officers) that took no BS off of DB (Douche bag/Darrell Brooks) but i second the motion of your sentiment. And I loved when DB tried to create and steer the narrative that he was, in fact, representative of the accused and not the defendant, himself, and those officers shot that down, he'd get salty and begin to ask even more stupider questions trying to regain control of the narrative. Like with Offcr. Bryce, he asked him what info did he learn about the suspect that was involved in the domestic dispute that day. Offcr. Bryce asked him to clarify if he meant now or back then on the day of. DB didn't clarify so Bryce said I learned x,y,z about "YOU". To which Brooks asked the stupid question of "who's "YOU" ". Bryce stared him down and replied, "You. Darrell Brooks. You were the suspect." And DB asked them how did he know that at the time and Bryce said I didn't but you asked me what I learned about the suspect during the investigation, this investigation took a while and during the course of it, it was determined that YOU were the suspect. Jackass, here eventually ends up asking him basically, if everyone is innocent until proven guilty how can you say the name that you keep saying? Like somehow if you commit a crime you have to be found guilty of it for anyone to learn your name. Bryce was me and my wife's favorite although he and Carpenter were neck and neck at the top of our list. Bryce inched out the W, bcz he shot at Brooks and said in front of the court, on the record, and in front of the world. "I was trying to shoot YOU!" DB tried to separate himself from being the driver and murderer that day again and adds "you tried to shoot what you could see", to which Bryce says definitively again, "I was trying to shoot YOU!"😂😂😂. So out of the handful of l.e.os that testified in the likeness, boldly, and truthfully. He was the best in our eyes. But Carpenter was a delight to watch nonetheless. Especially, when DB started to cut him off and he immediately stopped, looked at DB, and cut HIM off with can I finish and before DB could answer or apologize or anything, Carpenter gets back to what he was saying. Almost like him saying "Can I finish?" was a rhetorical question, I'm GOING to finish, and you're gonna shut tf up while I do so. THEN.. I'll allow you to "axe" me your next stupid question. Lmfao. I friggin loved that part.

What a pointless collection of petty, irrelevant, deeply irritating questions. He thinks he’s so clever, but with every passing minute of the trial all he did was alienate the jury and dig himself in deeper and deeper. His arrogance and narcissism meant that he had no way of comprehending the effect he was actually having on everyone present. When you watch the interrogation and he is told a child has a broken leg, he starts in on the self-pity of his supposedly injured shoulder; he constantly refers to his life being over and how he will never see his mother or his kids again. Staggeringly insensitive and utterly self-centred. I’ve watched so many true crime videos, police interrogations etc, but not one single perpetrator has got under my skin like this guy. Let's face facts of this entire trial:
As a possible suspect of the parade attack,
Darrell Brooks lied his butt off.
Then admitted his life was over because he knew he f'd up.
Then faked being injured by the police officer who arrested him.
Screaming and cussing he was taken to the hospital and proven not injured.
Fast forward to hearing eye witnesses positive IDding him all over the area hurting and killing people with his vehicle.
Trying to discredit witnesses to prove them wrong.
Videos galore of his vehicle hitting people in the parade, even people flying over the hood of the vehicle and DB running over people again.
DB disagrees with use of videos and eye witnesses.
      Several dozen people, many videos...
      He vehemently vehemently objects...
Demanding the court and prosecutors verification of their employment credentials for legally presiding over the court proceedings.
He refused to accept the non certified copies of anything provided to him.
Literally accusing Judge Dorow and prosecutors of TREASON!!!
Accused a jury member of flipping him off at a pre trial hearing.
Once proven he was wrong and even locating the actual woman who did flip him off, ( the person who was not a jury member had been barred from the court room)
DB disagrees with the conclusion and accused the court of pulling CRAP in not dismissal of the juror. He knows that he is right, the juror is guilty of flipping him off.
Again the court determined who the person was and the person had been barred from the court room.
      It was not a juror.
These examples of DB BS delay tactics and attempts for delay and derail the trial could continue for months....
Prosecution FULLY completed the tasks in front of the court.
His defense, ONLY defense is to:
Discredit everyone else and everything the Prosecutors placed in as evidence.
In closing statement DB refused to argue facts.
Refused to argue FACTS of this case.
Admitted his guilt in the first line of defense closing statement.

Absolutely none of the questions he asks these witnesses have ANYTHING to do with the murders that he is standing trial for. I never understood what his purpose for these questions was. He never tried to prove his innocence in the murder trial! He completely ignored the main focus when questioning his ex, focusing only on their relationship and arguments. Then, he only questioned this officer about the interrogation and nothing else. What the hell was he trying to prove with this line of questioning? What does the interrogation have to do with proving his innocence in the multiple murders he's being charged with?? They've already ruled that the interrogation is admissible! He's not going to reverse that decision, and the jury is not going to ignore the deaths of multiple children even if some policy wasn't followed during an interrogation! WHAT. IS. HIS. POINT??

Why doesn't Brooks just ask the Detective what's his favorite color?
That question has just as much relevance as the rest of his questions.

I really hope everyone appreciates how fkng boss this investigator is. He constantly referred directly to the fact the the man he interrogated was the defendant/defense. He even got Demon Brooks to confirm his presence in the interrogation multiple times. This investor directed Demon Brooks attention multiple times and got him to incriminate himself over and over. This single witness questioned by Demon Brooks is easily enought to destroy any chance of a coherent defense!
