The [youtube] thing aside, I honestly really enjoyed Ion Fury despite its protagonist. I liked how the starting pistol is a reliable weapons, the music is phenomenal and there are design choices about the 90s that I enjoy better than even Doom Eternal. The enemy placements and level design mean something, the inclusion of head shots (rare for 2 1/2 D) allows for some tactical skill, and its one of the few hitscan games that forces you into cover that doesn't feel annoying. Some lament the lack of "over-the-top" weapons like the shrink ray, but was that really anything more than a gimmick? I don't miss it, and the combat is more than visceral enough to make up for any "let downs". I liked the moments of being behind cover and deciding between going out and getting head shots or chucking a homing grenade from safety. She's not a Duke Nukem (an Ahnold knock off). She's more of a gun slinger/explosives agent mash up, and I really like that.

RUclips doesn't like swearing at the very beginning of a video shortly after preroll ads. The wall of f bombs at 0:30 might have been the only thing keeping this from being monetized unless Escapist already tried uploading a version without that.
