I've taken sodium valproate since I was 11 for epilepsy (trialing secondary anti-convulsant drugs till I was 20) and have commenced Risperidone last year for schizophrenia as I was suffering severe anxiety and psychosis (having to go to emergency on 3 occasions with a pulse rate of 230-240per/min). So far life's been going great with these two medications!
Risperidone has to be one of the best psychopharmacological products available on the market! I'm a consumer and I will testify to that!

Thank you for sharing!!. I also started hearing the voices, along with the shadows. I started thinking about my life and memories brought me to the conclusion that I have always heard voices but never paid attention to where they was coming from. I am 31 and noticed the voices big time now. The voices ont feel fake, they even tell me it's nanotechnology and the people. For me it even feels that the whole world is in on this conspiracy that I like to believe schitsofrenia is made up. The voices tell me I'm targeted because I'm perverted and what not. My thoughts are read before I even noticed them. I search nanotechnology and it's a technology that can manipulate your mind and manipulate your feelings. Something positive I can leave you with is, find a way to love music, wear headphones! A good pair. Watch good movies that fill your heart up with happiness and tranquility. . Prepare yourself for one day your love of your life is no longer in your life. Save money for the rainy days. Love you !!

Schizophrenia caused me to suffer from severe hallucinations when it "onset" in me. Over time those went away. I tried the mentality that I didn't need medication. That was a mistake, sure I wasn't a threat to anyone really, nor myself. Without meds in my perception I am far more likely to be delusional and to suffer hallucinations that motivate the delusion. They no longer have a nasty persecuting theme, but they cause a major threat to my perception of reality.
I thought I was like the master of the disease when I overcame a long and miserable onset. It was a mistake, the medication is helpful, and should not be something a person with the disease choses to believe they don't need.

+James Berry medication is messed up honestly its a scam and causes more problems then you realize, the can give you actual brain damage among other dozens of side affects. If you take B3 (niacin) and other B vitamins along with megadoses of Vitamin C and cut out gluten and coffee from your diet, add magnesium zinc melatonin garlic and turmeric/curcumin in your diet and fish oils can cure it..check online for yourself there are thousands of schizophrenics who were cured with just vitamins and minerals/diet change.

Servant of the merciful, Oh, how I wish you were a servant of the LORD JESUS CHRIST! My story can give you a real Christian biblical view of schizophrenia or hearing voices, that psychologists who do not know GOD, have not yet considered. The HOLY BIBLE tells us that there is an invisible war on earth involving evil demonic spirits ( the devil) , who can speak into our ears all manner of thoughts, and most importantly they want to keep us from a real relationship with our GOD through our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!!!! The LORD helped me in this battle for my mind, and can help anyone who will believe in THE TRUTH. Please listen to my story at: HEARING VOICES: REAL HELP AND UNDERSTANDING Praying for you, love, Carol

    Epigenetically... maybe.
However, the vulnerability to developing psychosis and/or negative (deficit) symptoms will always be there. That's why minimizing stress, eating a healthy diet, avoiding dietary intolerances, strengthening the immune system, reducing inflammation, developing a structured lifestyle, and normalizing a sleep schedule are so vital to maintenance of recovery.

@knowledgeprovider It's no longer an issue of the SZ brain accepting what it is. The SZ brain accepting reality requires some testing of that reality- essentially, once a person has gone through acceptance of their illness the next step is to see if reality will accept, also, that the person does in fact have that illness. "Reality check". Perception cannot do this isolated within itself. Unconscious must become conscious and then externalize to reinforce & strengthen its healthy reasoning.

      This makes me sad.
every single patient who gets his schizophrenia diagnosis hears this false promise that medicated well he can have a normal life.
He can seem normal to others, but he won't feel that way, probably not even knowing why.
Have you ever been told that you can have Schizophrenia without beeing Crazy? It's true that people can go crazy without medication because they don't have a way to deal with it.
To be normal is an expectation that we can not fulfill.
I consider myself lucky to have a choice,
either to be a disabled normal, or a normal schizophrenic.
