I purchased this day one. I absolutely love it. Still only using it in the net at home but will be going to the range with it soon.. Great video guys!!
Had my MLM2pro for about a year now and its great. If you can live without angle of attack, face to path and swing path, this thing is great. To get those 3 additional specs you need about spend several thousands of dollars more.
That was awesome to see fellas and good to know there is an alternative to spending 7k in order to get better. As others mentioned would like to see the club path and spin information but the accuracy of what they do give you is pretty awesome. Great job
Great analysis guys. As a radar device the lack of spin on the MLM should be a non-issue on the range as the device should show the correct flight dynamics, which it clearly did. I think the blip on the 7 iron carry data was more a GC3 issue because if you compare shots 1 and 2 there should be very little difference in carry between those shots as ball speed within 1 mph and launch angle only 1 degree out and these should cancel each other out. The MLM had the same carry whereas GC3 had 11 yards difference which appears way too much given the other dynamics. As an aside Rapsodo do need to sort out the roll out on wedges as still seems to be too high at mid teens in yards.
With the launch direction, it seems the rapsodo showed around 0.7degrees more left on every shot, could it be that the unit was just pointing 0.7degrees more to the right than actually misreading slightly? Good review
Agreed. Also there are slight errors in the calculations for the "difference" column for launch direction in Golfcity's big table of data in the video. They should all be negative numbers, showing the MLM2PRO is consistently measuring more left by -0.9 to -0.7 for launch direction. Makes the MLM2PRO even more impressive.
It is certainly possible. The Rapsodo app has an alignment tool that uses the camera to help you align the device to the target. We used that to set it up properly but its always possible that something could be off by a half a degree or so.
Pretty good stuff right there. Initially I didn't like the special RPT ball for spin as I think it's not practical for most people, but it seems like it doesn't really matter. For most golfers, they can't control the spin anyways so as long as the end result is good, all is well!
It’s especially important for driver. If your spin is 2500 that’s great. If it’s 3500 either your swing is way too steep or you need a different driver setup because it’s costing you tons of distance
Working out the averages on such a small sample size seems a bit meaningless especially when one of the three shots is an outlier as it was with the 7 iron. Regardless of that the Rapsodo performed extremely well. Very impressive unit when working properly. I've seen other videos and read a lot of complaints about connectivity issues. Don't know whether that is down to user error or some units are just not working properly but when it is working properly this thing is very impressive.
Super helpful, thanks! I'm primarily looking for a device to bring to the range with me to help me practice my distance control inside 150 yards. Seems perfectly capable of that. I was also impressed with the accuracy on the longer clubs too. It might even be accurate enough for meaningful gapping analysis. I'd be curious how accurate the dispersion is vs GC3? It'd be awesome if it was accurate enough to get a sense for my shot patterns with different clubs so I could use it to inform my on-course strategy.
Here's how these machines work: The machine has built-in spin values for the club which is selected. "Average" spin values. That's why you have to select the club used in the MLM. So if the player has spin numbers for his shot which are close to what is preprogrammed into the machine, then you'll get calculated distances which are close to accurate. If your own shots aren't close to what is preprogrammed, then distance will be off. But there's no way to know without comparing it to something. Throw in a couple of other players in there and you'll get varying results. Get a player who is super spinny with the driver for example, and it won't be close. There's a reason they have special balls so that spin is measured. If spin wasn't important, then you wouldn't need it. Is 4 yards good enough for a 7 iron? That will be up to you, but that's almost half a club. Is that good enough for gapping? Side note that ball speed is easy to measure accurately. I have an old radar unit (probably 15 years old) that I put up against a trackman and ball speed was within +/-1 mph on the same shots. One other final comment: You went through the whole testing procedure and only hit 3 balls... I don't understand that. Hit 20 balls for each club and you'll know how many outliers are typical.
Now if you can actually get them to make more units so we can buy one. Amazon says up to 2 months to get one. The website says we will email you when there's more available. Cancelled my Garmin R10 order after seeing how good this performs.
Great review!! I feel confident with these numbers. I will be using this indoors and on the range if I am getting this. Indoors I worry about Spin and range I worry about shot shape, carry and total yardage. This makes me super happy to know.
I hate to be this person, but your data (~7:55 mark) is off.. I see a few Difference Averages that don't make sense to me but maybe some data was hidden or something. Basically all of the Difference Averages for the Driver are off.. 1+1+4 = 6. 6/3 = 2. You have 2.5. 1+0+1 = 2. 2/3 = 0.66. You have 0.5. -0.8 - 0.7 - 0.7 = -2.2. -2.2/3 = -0.73333. You have -0.7. 0.1+0.5+0 = 0.6 0.6/3 = 0.2. You have 0.25 Another example: the Launch Direction of the Wedge, the "Difference" should be in absolutes. For the 1st shot, you have a difference of -0.9. The difference is actually 0.9 (no negative). The difference between -1.6 and -0.7 is not -0.9, but 0.9. This oversight also affects the overall Average of the Differences. Using the -0.9 instead of 0.9, you do in fact come out w/ a 0.2333 average. However, if you use the 0.9 (not negative), the difference average comes out to be 0.8333 which is a decent enough difference. Both 0.2333 and 0.8333 are great numbers! I'm just looking out for you in case this kind of issue happens again and really affects potential buyers' view of the data. I really don't think this case will sway anyone either way, but whatever lol. Sorry to be "that guy" or the nerdy guy, but gotta keep ya honest!
i wonder if rapsodo is willing to partner up with driving ranges and give them a number of devices and people can rent them for 10-15 bucks an hour or something like that and for them to provide the range with balls with the dots on them. that would be sick! if you offer this and have the store sell your product, thats a win win situation.
We need a video that details the additional features that you get from Rapsoto tha first year. Does it depict angular data of shots! Great videos guys!
@@ellisadamm I 3D printed two blank half ball markers with semi transparent resin. Put the ball in marked the center points of all the dots and then drilled out the holes. Used a black sharpie to make the marks on a new ball. They werent super precise marks but they were read by the unit.
Love this. I feel like you guys are giving us good information. I am curious to know these other guys here on RUclips that review the MLM2PRO as well. They found the launch angle is 2-3 degrees weak. I am thinking they just threw the unit down and just hit the balls. I have a feeling that you guys decided to take the extra probably 2 min to make sure everything is more square. I still have confidence this is a great product and waiting again for stock to buy.
To be totally honest, we've never had any trouble setting up the MLM2PRO. The software has an alignment tool that uses the camera to show you where to put the ball. It only takes us a couple of seconds to get it set up. Hope that helps!
@@Golficity Thanks. It just makes me wonder why others have very small issues. Not product hurting by any means. I am still going to buy this launch monitor as I agree with you guys and the results. Love the channel fellas.
As for launch angle, perhaps the inside readings are off a bit as the ball flight is short, whereas outside the mlm2pro can track the ball further and provide more accurate launch angle data. Just a thought.
I know this is a Rhapsodo review, but I can’t help but think that Mike is leaving 10-15 yards of driver distance on the table. He’s got at least 5mph of swing speed on me but his launch is super low. Get that AoA and launch up and he’ll be carrying 265 (with more rollout).
Can this unit be connected to a large screen TV instead of having to purchase a projector and screen? Also, this unit REQUIRES the use of a laptop or phone, correct? Is an internet/ wifi connection required in the range or golf course simulation mode? Can multiple players have a profile on the same unit, and how does that work? Well done fellas, love the channel. I just subscribed too!!
Does either device (or the Mevo+) have a setting for using poor quality “range” balls? Like a way to apply an algorithm that accounts for the difference in ball. Or if you want to see accurate distances for your clubs, do you have to be indoors with top quality balls (like Titleist RCT or Callaway RCP)?

Great video! Have you done a comparison of the MLM vs MLM2PRO on the range? If we're ok not having spin numbers on outdoor range sessions, my understanding is the main benefit of the MLM2 is that it has it's own internal camera, so you don't have to use your phone/ipad. If that's the case and numbers are both accurate, there's a case for the $300 MLM. Thoughts?
great job guys but it would be great to see 10 shots for each club. taking the average of just 3 shots is not a great representation in terms of statistics
Did you guys shoot any of the targets with a range finder to see what actual was? I see so many videos comparing units against each other but none showing actual measured distance. Can you please make that video?
Spin stats don’t matter since most range balls drop drastically in spin rate anyways. It’s more accurate the closer you get to driver but you can see good/spinny flight easier.
Spin is VERY important. Deal breaker for me Can you compare the rapsodo with the newly released swing caddie sc4 outdoors at the range using standard range balls?
I know they say range balls are slightly limited flight. Are the yardages given range ball distance or calculated distance with a good ball based off ball speed and launch? Thanks!!!
Hey guys, quick question, any idea on when Rapsodo will have these in stock again? I really want to get one but people are uncharging the crap out of them on eBay. I would rather wait if it's not going to be a super long wait.
Why did u choose to test the MLM2 vs R10 Indoors and made a huge deal about how much better and accurate the MLM2 was due to its ability to measured spin axis with RPT balls then u essentially dismiss the importance of spin axis outdoors bc the MLM2 can’t measure this with range balls? and u did not include the R10 in this outdoor test where both units would be on par with each other? This is very much a paid infomercial for Rapsodo… and I own the MLM2. How about commenting on the all the MLM2 issues - poor connection, crappy poor software, the fact that unit is single player only, no landscape mode, the fact that spin data , Sim use, 3rd party integration is hidden behind a $200 yearly paywall fee? All this is free on the R10. This test is clickbait, paid advertising, and flawed similar to your initial testing comparing the R10 and MLM2. This device has some impressive features but we need more objective testing to highlight them.
Yep. The costs going forward is where it gets expensive with the Rapsodo(never mind the lack of spin reading at the range) and I don’t think it’s focused enough on. After the free year, it’s $200 that you must pay in order to get some critical stats, connect to third party apps and also use the sim abilities(single player only). And unless they changed from the MLM 1, it is paid annually, no month to month choice. With the R10, you don’t need to sub AT ALL to get all the stats available and also connect it to 3rd party apps. And, if you wanna use the Home Team Hero sim abilities(which allows for multiple people), you can simply pay for just 1 month at $10, play and then you can cancel as Garmin offers a month to month option
You can use it on the course with the Xs and get the realist data there is. The pay wall sucks but 5 years of ownership is still half the price of the next best option. I spent 4 months trying to find something better for under $1500 and ended up biting the bullet last week.
I wonder how the Rapsodo got reasonably accurate carry distance and shot shape without calculating spin into the equation, or is it actually measuring spin and putting it into the equation but not showing the spin number because they aren't confident its being accurately measured? On a range using range balls and being able to actually see the shot shape, I'd love to have club path and face angle data so I can see what actually contributed to the shot shape. With a 240fps camera in the unit I can't understand why they aren't offering that data. If the Garmin R10 can do it with reasonable (dubious) accuracy then surely the Rapsodo can give us something to help us focus on the swing itself.
Yes, Rapsodo recently added a feature called R-Speed which allows you to do speed training. It records and stores all your speed training swings so you can track your progress.
Comparing it against $7K equipment will make a big mac taste like a prime rib, but compare it to a cheaper unit like garmin and it will still taste like a big mac. This unit is for better amateurs and it shows. The GC is in another league and is priced thereafter. I don’t think a lot of pro’s will be folding one of these out on the range on wednesdays before the tournament starts. I wonder how much callaway is paying for the unit in reality. And i have a feeling that club and ball data will come , but behind the paywall, after they have sold 300k units.
The fact this has a camera and doesn't show club path or spin outdoors is a HUGE letdown, when this was first announced I had such high hopes due to the higher price point compared to the R10. Maybe they will find a way to calculate spin and club path in the future like Garmin have, atm it is a deal breaker.
We'd love to see Rapsodo add some club data in a future software release. As you mentioned, the system does have the impact camera so it wouldn't be far fetched to think club path data might be added soon.
Spin numbers with range balls are also not great. Calculated spin on the Garmin is also terrible. I wouldn’t be surprised if club data is added but the impact vision is incredible at the moment
shouldn’t we remember that the gc3 isn’t 100% accurate as it’s not taking into account what the wind is doing with the ball hence the reason TrackMan is far more superior outside on the range than the GC3 or 4. I do think it’s amazing for the money
SPIN SPIN SPIN and Ball Speed are all that matter for every club up to Driver on the Range except to a lesser extent launch angle. With SPIN and Ball Speed and angle you can pretty much dial your game, without SPIN you can't end of story.
Neither is accurate unless you actually measure where the ball lands on the range . Whys is no one doing this . The GC3 can be out just like any thing . All that matters is distance and direction .
My first thought is you guys owe me $700. I’m going to buy one of these and you guys are the reason.

If the Garmin R10 can do it with reasonable (dubious) accuracy then surely the Rapsodo can give us something to help us focus on the swing itself.
spin rate data is accessible through their $199/y premium membership. 😅
I never was able to connect my MLm 2 with my phone or iPad anywhere outside. It won’t work with my hotspot or something.
Does not rapsodo use radar to track the ball all the way in the range?
Can the device be used for speed training i.e. without hitting a golf ball?
Yes, Rapsodo recently added a feature called R-Speed which allows you to do speed training. It records and stores all your speed training swings so you can track your progress.
Have you tested the Garmin R10 against the four site at the range yet? I would like to see those numbers.
Yes Paul we have done that in a video last year. MLM vs R10 on the range. Check it out!
Test the swing caddie sc4
Comparing it against $7K equipment will make a big mac taste like a prime rib, but compare it to a cheaper unit like garmin and it will still taste like a big mac. This unit is for better amateurs and it shows. The GC is in another league and is priced thereafter. I don’t think a lot of pro’s will be folding one of these out on the range on wednesdays before the tournament starts. I wonder how much callaway is paying for the unit in reality. And i have a feeling that club and ball data will come , but behind the paywall, after they have sold 300k units.
How accurate do these read club head speed in comparison to the memo plus? There’s no way this guy was swinging his seven iron at 94 mph.
those launch angle numbers make me wish i had enough money to buy an mlm2 ;}
How did u get mlm2pro on laptop theres no app for it on windows?
The laptop in the video was just entering numbers into a Google sheet. The iPad is the tablet we used to run the Rapsodo.
I think you should do 10 shots each club for a better average
Will it track outdoors off real gras, or do you need to hit off a mat?
The grass worked as well as the mat.
Would have been better to hit some hooks and slices to see how it tracks
I have had no luck with mine, wildly inaccurate distances. often 15-20yards short than real
Mlm2pro is the best $700 I have ever spent
maths lesson: driver difference 1+1+4=6. 6 divided 3=2 not 2.5
Driver needs to see spin data.
Spin not so important for me. Descent angle is huge
3 shot average is meaningless. Do 10+ and the averages will go way down.
Too bad you can't buy them now.
No club data and no spin ? This thing is nothing burger at that price.
We’re at what, 4 Rapsodo videos in two months now? Good lord guys calm down.
Why, they’re thorough with it giving people what they want to see, no one wants to spend $900 not knowing what they’re getting.
It's THEE golf device everyone keeps raving and asking about. We'll most likely do more when more features and things are announced.
@@Golficity the price point and accuracy on this device is insane. Keep it up.
