This band is awesome... they had a few UK top. 40 hits around 2000/2001 time.... and i think finelines remains their only studio album release around 2001, might've had a special edition 2002.... but very one off band. Awesome upload. Use to listen to them when i was younger
In case anyone is wondering, Fine Lines came out in 2001. There were a couple of EPs released in 2007 which had a couple of new tracks and in 2016 they released the Secret Sessions which has 9 "new" songs on it (which is the closest thing we have had to a follow up record.) This band, for whatever reason, released an incredible first record and didn't capitalise on their success. Given what's popular in the charts today, I don't see this band resurfacing with another album. Great band, maybe they just didn't want it enough.
They were shot by the end of 2002, I remember Som saying in an interview that they had to go away for a while. The tide had already turned for those 1999-01 post-Britpop Brit/Irish alt-rock bands in 2001, when the NME hyped the Strokes and White Strips into oblivion and set forth the landfill indie for the rest of the decade. The decline of the paper music press hurt those bands as well, in particular the Melody Maker going under, which had championed alot of them. I remember going to MV's comeback gig at Islington Academy in Jan 2005 and it felt like they'd been gone for a decade, such was the pace of change at the time (hell, even the Darkness, who exploded in 2003, didn't sustain it for the second album and were in the "meh" category by 2005). 2005 had to be the year of the MV second album, but with no support and probably back to working day jobs by that time...like for alot of bands, very likely life just got in the way.
Are we sure this is from Rock am Ring? I'm thinking this is from Rock im Park. I saw them at Rock am Ring June 1st 2001, and that gig was definitely played outside in the daytime. This looks like it was played inside a venue and it is dark 🤔

Som, his brother and Seth are truly some of the most genuine and lovely people in the business.
Thanks! Huge MV fan and I've never seen this. One of the most energetic sets I've seen them play.
Great comment to see despite the time past... i used to love this band
Amazing 22 years later you uploaded this in amazing quality
Thanks for watching and commenting Herman
This is the best live recording i've ever seen of them. Guitars on full blast. What a wonder they are.
Great band. Just wish they'd recorded more. Also never found out why Carolyn left and what she did subsequently.
Thank you so so much for sharing it. Their live performances are stunning! They play this november 19th at the Scala in London. :D

'Finelines' remains a brilliant album 👍
