Most of the time you’re right about the intake. But on these cars, the stock intake is actually super optimized, but I wanted wooshy noises so I put a CAI on anyway lol.
I like the stock grille. Without the GTI call outs, it could be just a Golf.

Ya I’ve heard that, but I was getting misfires like crazy with the oem ones. It wasn’t the spark plugs because they were brand new when I was getting the misfires. I switched to the Apr ones and haven’t dealt with misfires since
I'm personally running a stock catback with a catless downpipe and it sounds great sometimes you don't need a 1,000 dollar exhaust set up
I agree! When I bought the car it came with this exhaust on it so I just kept it🤷🏽♂️
These days APR and Revo will give you 300+ stock. But inlet pipe is a great bang for the buck still!

Just upgrade DP, Stage 2 e30 tune or pump gas tune, stock location Intercooler upgrade, TCU tune / or Clutch(6mt) and 1 step colder plugs- done.
Keep coil packs and intake stock(upgrade to hi flow filter)
Great setup! I'd highly suggest an intercooler early on when tuning these cars. You can tune without it, but it's better for the longevity of your car.

Badgeless grill look is nice, I would blackout the rear badge completely, also you will get a CEL even with a HF CAT DP, you need a stage 2 tune or try a CTS CEL ELIMINATOR / O2 SENSOR SPACER to get rid of the CEL. Sounds nice! How is the drone or does it just sound good while cruising?
Thanks man, I ended up switching back to the oem grill. Ya I had a CEL for a long time at first because of the SAI. I had a block off plate on it and then finally got around to fixing it. Then I got a CEL for the DP like u said and after running multiple different spacers I finally found one that doesn’t throw the CEL anymore lol. I ended up changing the entire exhaust setup and went with the CTS turbo back. It’s a little too quiet for my liking but that’s ok because the ecs muffler delete kit is a direct fit so I plan on doing that eventually. As for the exhaust setup at the time of this video, it did had a good amount a drone. If I was cruising in 6th, it was fine but I’m assuming u also have or once had a gti so u know how hard it is to only “cruise” with these cars lol
haha nice, yeah I am running a 3" MagnaFlow CATback and just ordered the CTS DP with HF CAT, got there CEL spacer as well, hopefully I wont have the CEL problem. No tune yet but will probably go Unitronic stage 1 91OCT and Stage 1 DSG tune. The only thing I am still not sure on is if I should upgrade the IC when I do the tune@@GTInick
@@GStarMan8844 oh nice, ya I wouldn’t drive it too much without the tune but I’m sure u know that. Unitronic is really good, a buddy of mines got a stage 2 gli with their software and he loves it. I can send u a link to the spacer for the DP that worked for me. It should work for u too since we have the same DP but idk. I’ll link it

No heat soak on the stock charge cooler? Definitely a problem for me. Nice send it build all around.
Ya I ran into some heat soak eventually but that's only after doing numerous pulls. Now that the car has a front mount, no more heat soak

Lol I definitely would. Just understand that doing any modifications at all increase the risk of things going wrong. It’s been really fun having a modified car but at the same time, it can be a huge headache. If your willing to deal with the possibility of things happening than I say go for it. These are great cars and they can handle ALOT. Just take care of it and it’ll take care of u

Or just put the is38 in the GTI..the r is not that special lol…only the awd makes a difference and it’s still front drive oriented. GTI is the faster highway runner if you put the same turbo and sit them next to eachother fyi lol.

@@GTInickSame thing with the s3’s/a3’s, why bother with an s3 when you can get an a3. There’s a few internal differences, but it’s not much from what I’ve seen.
