they are utterly so together! lovely. thank you
You can see everyones love and admiration at the depth of Albert's talent. Amazing.
Great to see all of these great talents working together!
Albert & Emmilou, it doesn't get better than that!
Never liked country music until this bunch hit the scene.
Adorable! They’re BABIES! I love it!
Love this, Great to see Emmylou and Albert lee, such great talents. Great group of musicians Rodney hit those high notes very well. Nice to see the struggle to get a recording tracked back in that time.
Classic country music
It was great to watch "looking for a corner" live. Underrated song. Always loved the acoustic solo
What a way to bring in the New Year! I just discovered this masterpiece. Thank you RUclips.
#dinnerforone lololol - you nailed it !
I love when Emmylou says to Rodney and Albert, 'Shall we start a band?' 😃 Yup, that was my favourite line-up of the Hot Band too ☺
Got kinda awkward at the end of that lol. He 'said we tried that lol" and something along the lines of "but we got kicked out" and Emmy's response was ":-|" nothing said lol
@@traviswilliams1504 to be fair to Emmylou, she wasn't the one paying their salaries. The record label was paying for the musicians in the band. They were paying a LOT of money for the Hot Band back in the 70s, as is readily apparent from the quality of the musicians. Albert, Rodney, Hank Devito, Emory Gordy, Glen Hardin, James Burton... literally the best money could buy. It probably wasn't sustainable to keep paying for that backing band indefinitely.

Although, many of us wish this band had been given free reign from the corporate money chains, as they were sensational and deserved the monies.
Boy is she a great singer.
Saw Albert just a couple weeks ago at the Fallout Shelter in Norwood, MA. At 80 he's still going strong. If you search his name and Fallout Shelter on RUclips you can se his whole performance.
OMG, loving this. So that is Bob Lucier on pedal steel. Really great. Sad to hear that Doug Riley is no longer with us. What a talent.
Thank you very much for this video!
Thanks so much . It means a lot to me .
Great video back in the day love there voices
Thank you so much for this upload. 37 years later (today, december 24, 2020, this video is my Christmas present. Wishes from France to you. Jo Luttringer (France)
Unglaublich schön!! ❤️❤️ Fantastc!! ❤️❤️🇨🇭
great songs
The piano caught my attention right off! Dr. Music! 👍😘🎶💞
This was edited down to a 1 hour show . It was a session, but not recording session to put out records . those can take days, weeks or longer . In recording sessions often the whole band or session musicians aren't there . Engineer gets basic rhythm tracks played several times. often musicians or singers go into a recording booth put on their headphones to the music already recorded sing or play a few or more times for the band the session. band leaders, engineers and management select which tracks to mix for the final cut of each song to be released .
Phenomenal.
Didn’t realize how well Albert played piano.
"That's disgusting it's a family show" Emmylou at 1:55, Rodney kissing Rosanna with Alberts beautiful guitarlicks in the background.
Great video thx very much.
You mean at 1:55:38 .... you could at least get the time-stamp right for the rest of us voyeurs.
@@gwh0 Sorry about that, hope you will forgive me and enjoyed the video just as much as I did.
They were married.
Emmy Lou and the boys in their prime.
"That's disgusting, it's a family show..." -brilliant !
Hilarious
This video is an amazing display of calm and patience during a recording of truly iconic musical artists of our generation! Brilliant , where did this come from? Albert is great, Emmylou was the blue cowgirl ( with S Clark), Rodney at his best, wished for more Cash. Emmylou has a great ear! Are there more of these?
It's the raw footage that was edited down to one episode of a Canadian tv show called "In Session". We shot 13 episodes in 1983 and and another 14 in 1988. This was the only episode with four featured artists. All the others were pairs. (Stevie Ray Vaughan with Albert King, Glen Campbell with Leon Russell, Chet Atkins with Liona Boyd, Johnny Winter with Dr. John, BB King with Larry Carlton, etc.
The late great doug riley on piano
Do you have Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys on Austin City Limits in 1980? It's a half-hour set, including the Austin City Limits Season 5 opening sequence at the beginning, as well as Lickona's introduction.
Does anyone know about what year this was recorded. Emmylou looks so young, and beautiful as ever.
Recorded Dec 12, 1983 at CHCH-TV studios in Hamilton, Ontario Canada for the legendary "In Session" series.
got to be the 80s ?
So ‘80’s, at least Rodney didn’t get a perm...
Emmylou was such a fascinating

Livewire, how did you get this material?! I feel like I'm in there with them. What a special treat! 💕💕💕
I was the recording engineer for the 26 episode series. You can see my back in some of the Control Room shots.
@@LiveWireRemoteRec "You can see My back but My face you cannot see." (Exodus 33:23)
Lovely bunch of darlings, but my did they have sound issues that night.
First eight Kit singt Emmylou , open air live
Why did this video start after they started singing? Just saying. Love Emmylou. Always.
It's just a logging tape done on Beta HIFI on the day of the shoot for the director. I was busy getting the audio mix together and didn't hit the record button on the video till I was happy with the audio.
1983. Back in the day.
Where's Shame on the Moon? I know it was on this session
Look for Part II. Could only do 2 hours at a time.
😮
Gostaria de ver ela cantando vom o john Charles Crowley
Whats the song at minute 31?
1978?
Dec 12th 1983
Albert Lee , the most unassuming humble guy with more talent than the rest of them combined , what a career
He's great but hasn't more talent than the rest of them performing here put together. That's a crazy thing to say if that's what you mean. Him, Cash, Harris and Cromwell are all top of their tree!
Name of the first song??
Tulsa Queen
@@robertgibson7141 Gracias!
Crowell is such a great artist, one of my idols, EmmyLou one of the greatest ever, accomplished musician, a striking beautiful woman. beautiful voice, but I see in this period in his life, Rodney as a complete immature jerk.
Yes he has admitted that ,Johnny Cash told him that also!! That why his marriage to June Cash didn't last . He got it together after that.
They were both hooked on drugs, that being said roseanne should have had way more to do
roseanne cash pretty much just copied Juice newtons style. But it is a pretty good imitation.
Roseanne was much better than Juice Newton.
Who ever told Emmylou she could sing they lied. Now Rosanne she can sing.
Better to keep your opinion to yourself and let people think you’re stupid than post it online and remove all doubt.
