hi! i have a very similar sized cutting, growing for about 7-8 months now. You plant collection looks very pretty. One thing I'd like to suggest, if you allow me...I think the plant that you repotted didn't need repotting. Instead, it needs water. I appears that the soil medium is pretty coarse, which leads me to believe water dries out fairly quickly. Some leaves also looked dried out. I just felt that could be one of the reasons why leaves are dropping off. Happy Planting!

Yes, you are right the soil dries up quickly. I have another pot that uses the same soil but the pot doesn’t dry out as quickly and it’s doing way better.

There is really no problem with your soil drying more quickly as long as you remember to water it more often than those that have less drainage. How often you water depends upon your humidity level and how much sun the plant is getting. It is better to have a good air flow through the root system. Generally allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. You can even wait a few extra days as long as the plant is looking healthy. Feel the leaves that are toward the bottom of the plant. If they are still firm and not soft or can be squashed easily then you are not under watering. Just don’t wait too long before the next watering.
Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish if your plant has yellow leaves due to under watering or over watering. If you do have soil that drains well and you are not watering it too often then probably it is too dry. The roots definitely looked too dry.
I don’t understand why you are using that liner inside the pot that you put it in. It seems that it would cause more water retention. Just be careful about letting it dry completely before watering again. Sometimes it is difficult to tell with bbthese gritty mixes.
The plant seems to have a well established root system . I have found that the variegated Portulacaria tend to grow more slowly and seem to stay quite a bit smaller in comparison to the regular version…Portulacaria afra which grows vigorously under proper conditions. This seems to be true of other genetically modified succulents as well. They just do not have the vigor that the original species have . Of course the place that grows these plants can also sometimes have a weaker strain of succulent that may just never grow as a stronger line of plants would. Sometimes it is good to look into the nursery where you buy your plants to see where they get their products from and how they handle them.
