I loved Taken King truly but there’s something about this DLC that will forever have a place in my heart. I know it sounds corny but this was just such a beautiful time to be a gamer. The exotic quests, the campaign, the raid, the social space, Improved trials, the puzzles, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. Words can’t describe how much I loved this Game and DLC. Thank You Bungie.

I remember it was so packed that we had to wait like an hour until we could play. It was a school day and I remember talking about it all day with my friend and we were playing all after school. I remember I played till midnight doing the nightfall. I remember specifically, you started out on that bridge and you had to fight that ogre that was being controlled by the witch. It was so hard I remember. This DLC is so underrated. I wish I could go back in time. I love snow and I love destiny.

Never attempted the Raid, did all the strikes and nightfalls but didn't complete any I'd the exotic quests until Warmind. First one was the Khvostov a few days right before Destiny 2 came out, and last month I just got Outbreak Prime after doing that damn raid (which was AWESOME my favorite Raid to date) I missed out on alot because I didn't appreciate what this DLC had under its surface and only took it at face value. Really wish I could go back
I feel ya there, I’m an old guardian, like “that wizard came from the moon” Peter Dinklage ghost voice old, and Rise of Iron is seriously my all time favorite, the Iron Lords and their aesthetic are my favorite, the music is the best, and overall I just love the backstory. I still do Archon’s Forge a couple times a week to keep myself sharp.

People getting angry at the expansion um you need to remember that.... World of Warcraft and other MMORPGs like it have done the EXACT same thing with their expansions which TECHNICALLY count as part of the game but they just didn't release it.
I understand where you are coming from but you have to keep in mind, this game is not an MMORPG. There aren't different variations of quests and areas you start out at when you pick a new race or class. This game was basically cut up into DLC to keep it going. I love Destiny and it will always hold a special place in my heart. But you can't compare it to a mmorpg because they are simply not the same.

B F While that is true, a story can still be made out of the Cabal. I mean c'mon, they're supposed to be the most militaristic society in all of history. They one of the toughest enemies according to the lore, but in game they're technically the easiest cause they don't have their own raid and the strikes are incredibly easy. I just wish we could've had a dlc based on an all out war between the Guardians and the Cabal, wouldn't that be super badass?

Still love how he says ‘Some of us’ He’s referring to around a hundred Iron Lords dying while he and Efrideet were the only survivors. Hmm. Still, kinda sad how since this was made because D2 was made that we have yet to see any of the narrative threads in this dlc come to fruition in D2 yet. Here’s hoping one of the many upcoming seasons brings SIVA back into the mix with the Fallen proper (Zero Hour baby)

If you're talking about what the guys said on the recent Cosmodrome stream while they were heading to The Blast, it was that SIVA is controlled by a mind, not necessarily a warmind. There's a ton of theories out there, but the idea of it being controlled by a warmind isn't, as far as I know, out of the question.
it'd be kinda cool of one of the iron lords didn't die but instead was put into some sort of stasis by SIVA and is transformed and you get to fight that iron lord. it'd be cool with a taken guardian too but the taken king is too late
Ima be honest. This dlc was on of The best in both destiny 1 and 2 history. Taken King takes first place, Rise of Iron second and forsaken 3th. I think that forsaken was good, but i lacked something that i love so much about destiny 1 in year 2 and 3

But it was because I took a break and came back when rise of iron had been out for some months. I had a loot of content to play and most fixes from preveious years had made the game fun. The content alone in rise of iron was sure not the best, but the year it came out was sure the best experience for ME.
I think what D1 had that D2 has always been missing is a lack of full hints about everything. I remember being so surprised and a little disappointed seeing that leviathan had actual dialogue when the D1 raids gave no hints and let the community work together to figure things out

And I believe you get an emblem showing others you bought it. I bought the taken king soundtrack and gonna buy the original one when it releases. The Taken King is still a dlc in the end of the day and for a dlc to cost $40! I watched it. It's fallen. With tech. that's a minor difference. Cabal and Fallen? different! Fallen and Tech Fallen? not so much. and that after the taken were just the same models with differenttextures. sure different gameplay but.. the same model.

Story wise it kind of does. Like yeah you've taken down Oryx but you could have dark intensions hidden behind your deeds. Saladin is testing to see if you're pure enough to be an Iron Lord.

The trailer started out saying a bunch of impressive stuff about guardians like "We're god-slayers!" and then later in the video it was like "But now, we've angered a god!" It just cracked me up because the announcer sounded all worried about Oryx (because he's the antagonist of TTK obviously), when earlier in the video he boasted about how killing a god (like he called Oryx) was basically nothing to a guardian

Because it wasn't planned. When Bungie releases DLC nowadays, it's really just chapters of the main story that they're selling to you over a long period of time. But Rise of Iron was an actual expansion in the truest sense. It literally had zero to do with the "Light vs. Darkness" plot. It expanded on a part of the lore/universe we knew very little about (the Iron Lords), straight up created a whole new part of Old Russia (the Plaguelands) and brought in a slew of cool new additions and in-game features. And there was a badass, strong Arthurian theme on top of it all. It wasn't micromanaged to death by Bungie-Corporate like D2 was. And it was a happy accident made by a skeleton crew of developers who still actually cared about the game and the player base. A crew that was very much able to exercise their creativity and passion. Keep in mind, this was the same small crew behind the April Update and Age of Triumph (both of which were free content updates by the way.) So, I'm not really surprised that most developers outside of the RoI team actively resent it, Because from a developer perspective, it was the first and only actual expansion in the Destiny franchise.
New story, new zone, same map. there's still a place for this game in my heart. the taken king was great, but way too short with reused content for the price
I'm with you there, I actually knew about the game when it was first announced, I pre-ordered the collector's edition (For the DLC) and Ps4 month's before they were released. It's a shame, this game has potential but I refuse to play it again until I see a dlc with a new enemy, not just one with a different skin.
actually i've read somewhere that rise of iron is the first expansion where they have not reused any content, except gjally and stuff, but the new area and raid and stuff are all from scratch
Shadey Mcbones I think what they meant when they said that is that it wasn't in the game from day 1, the previous dlc's including the taken king were partially in the game from day, if you saw the out of map glitches that some youtubers did a very long time ago it showed the dlc area's. There's only so much dlc stuff they can keep locked within the game without taking up to much space on the disk. So they have coded this DLC from ground up but it may not mean that the stuff we see will be different.
Still some of the best music of the entire franchise to date and the most hype of the themes in the game tbh, I really hope wrath of the machine is brought back to D2!
I bet this won't even be the last dlc, so they can repackage the game a third time. Bungie went from being my favorite studio to one of the shittiest. I don't know how a game with 500 million dollars gets away with recycling the same 5 areas and 4 enemy types with a. Ima be honest. This dlc was on of The best in both destiny 1 and 2 history. Taken King takes first place, Rise of Iron second and forsaken 3th. I think that forsaken was good, but i lacked something that i love so much about destiny 1 in year 2 and 3

@@jorgeestella4441 When I think about it, forsaken should take second place for its story, worlds, gamemodes etc. I said rise of iron was second best as I had the one of the best experiences during it. But it was because I took a break and came back when rise of iron had been out for some months. I had a loot of content to play and most fixes from preveious years had made the game fun. The content alone in rise of iron was sure not the best, but the year it came out was sure the best experience for ME.
I think what D1 had that D2 has always been missing is a lack of full hints about everything. I remember being so surprised and a little disappointed seeing that leviathan had actual dialogue when the D1 raids gave no hints and let the community work together to figure things out

It just cracked me up because the announcer sounded all worried about Oryx (because he's the antagonist of TTK obviously), when earlier in the video he boasted about how killing a god (like he called Oryx) was basically nothing to a guardian

Because it wasn't planned.
When Bungie releases DLC nowadays, it's really just chapters of the main story that they're selling to you over a long period of time.
But Rise of Iron was an actual expansion in the truest sense. It literally had zero to do with the "Light vs. Darkness" plot. It expanded on a part of the lore/universe we knew very little about (the Iron Lords), straight up created a whole new part of Old Russia (the Plaguelands) and brought in a slew of cool new additions and in-game features. And there was a badass, strong Arthurian theme on top of it all.
It wasn't micromanaged to death by Bungie-Corporate like D2 was. And it was a happy accident made by a skeleton crew of developers who still actually cared about the game and the player base. A crew that was very much able to exercise their creativity and passion.
Keep in mind, this was the same small crew behind the April Update and Age of Triumph (both of which were free content updates by the way.)
So, I'm not really surprised that most developers outside of the RoI team actively resent it,
Because from a developer perspective, it was the first and only actual expansion in the Destiny franchise.

I'm with you there, I actually knew about the game when it was first announced, I pre-ordered the collector's edition (For the DLC) and Ps4 month's before they were released. It's a shame, this game has potential but I refuse to play it again until I see a dlc with a new enemy, not just one with a different skin.

Shadey Mcbones I think what they meant when they said that is that it wasn't in the game from day 1, the previous dlc's including the taken king were partially in the game from day, if you saw the out of map glitches that some youtubers did a very long time ago it showed the dlc area's. There's only so much dlc stuff they can keep locked within the game without taking up to much space on the disk. So they have coded this DLC from ground up but it may not mean that the stuff we see will be different.
Still some of the best music of the entire franchise to date and the most hype of the themes in the game tbh, I really hope wrath of the machine is brought back to D2!
