Thank you sir. MERRY CHRISTMAS. I work as a plumber and climbing onto a commercial roof is difficult at 61. This will definitely help in my future plans. YOU ARE EXTREMELY THOROUGH. AWSOME JOB!
Awesome I need one of these for the exact same thing, I get on all my roofs to inspect but the 2 story roofs with no access point that need a extension ladder are headaches. This will be perfect for Wind and hail damage quick inspections instead of grabbing the extension ladder. Thanks
Totally agree this would be perfect for you :) Thanks for watching. You could also use a tablet instead of a phone so you could see issues right while you are in the air.
@@theodorecarbajal2975 Yeah it is pretty easy. Definitely want to take it slow and not try anything crazy but if you pay attention and learn the controls you’ll be fine
@@MichaelJohnsonProductions awesome I found one for $250! I know others dji models are much better but I need one asap for roof Inspections for now, plus to take pictures during jobs
Did one yesterday in 25kt gusts on a beach house. That phantom was all over the place but it got the job done. Not sure the mini would have came home. Thanks for the video
Very welcome man. Yeah this mini is not good at all in the wind. I had it fly away from me one time. Ive never had that happen before with my other drones. So I was in surprised when it happened. Thanks for watching :)
I have a question. I already have the part 107 knocked out however is there any additional certification needed for drone roof inspections? Reason I ask anyone can take pictures of a roof but that doesn't make it an official roof inspection per se. Great video and thank you in advance!
Once my 107 comes in (hopefully with a week or 2), I also want to do roof inspections here in Texas. I was wondering how you go about getting your clients? Also if you wouldn’t mind sending me a message about how much I should charge. I’d appreciate that. Great video! Very helpful.
Getting clients register with local trades, you pay monthly membership fee like $60 dollars and clients call you direct. 96 clients yearly at $500 a job
Love the close up photos you got on the screws and chimneys! How close should one let the drone fly near the roof? in terms of distance and height? Thanks!
Thank you very much Ray. I really appreciate you taking the time to check this out. It took some time to learn to fly this drone. Thats for sure. Again thanks for watching and star safe as well :)
Why are the screws in the pan section of this roof?? Massive leak point? In Australia we put the screws in the high point of the sheets? I know it has nothing to do with this video but it just doesn’t make sense??
If I did this as a standalone business, how much would you charge? I would make a picture collage and send it to the customer via email or to the contractor of their choice. I live in Florida and I was thinking $25-40 a job would be fair Also where would you advertise? Flyers, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace?
as a beginner, yeah sure you know you need to get projects to build your portfolio but do not feel like it’s something you NEED to do. Remember, you don’t want to lowball yourself or even the market. Avg. roof inspection with a drone is $150-$400 nationwide. Develop the skills, trust your work and get paid what you deserve 👍🏽
So what is done with all the photos afterwards, do you show them to the customer from your tablet or something, and then find a roofing company afterwards? Do you charge for the Drone service or is it a part of your Roofing services?
Great question. What I do is just turn the photos into the contractor that hired me and they do what they have to do with them. This is just what I do not what everyone does. Great question though.
@@MichaelJohnsonProductions is there a software program like drone deploy for Mac or similar to measure the sq ft of the roof or particular section for better deliverables?
Definitely need to have a drone license to be able to profit from a drone. Any type of profit don’t matter if it’s RUclips you need a license. Thanks for watching and asking a great question.
Cool video. Go Chiefs. I'm assuming your using Roofing because that's what they provide if you want a drone? If so do you like that specific drone and software?
Honestly a lot of people wont believe this but this RUclips channel got me into production in general. I dont do roof inspections hardly at all. I just did a little of it while the pandemic was going on to stay a float. But my uncle told the owner of the show I work for that I do great work and to check out my RUclips channel. He did. He called me and we've been working full time ever since. Reason why it's so important to always post great content on RUclips. I do appreciate the question.
Wow Michael Your a pro at flying those drones these days. I was going to use mine to run a fishing line over a dead branch and then pull a rope over, but that drone was not song enough. Oh and to keep line from getting in props, I was going to kill the power and let it drop with line! You can do alot with a drone! You just proved it with video. That was great!
Lol I just spin the drone horizontally and vertically to do compass calibration. Surprised he's not tapping the screen to adjust the exposure. I do or I just adjust the EV Value or even just go into Full Auto
Bro…that last part of you just snapping away at the end was epic 🤣🙌🏽🙏🏽
lol 😂

AWSOME JOB!
Thank you for watching :) and glad it could help?
Great.
Up to now I was calibrating the drone by turning it into my hands.
From now I understand that I can turn myself 😉
Lol it's funny because I dont calibrate that way anymore. People always looked at me funny. So I just turn in my hand. It works both ways though.
@@MichaelJohnsonProductions i did today for testing. it works !
That's a very good video. I've been looking at that drone to do roof inspections. Thank you
Great information, and thanks for sharing.

@@MichaelJohnsonProductions really? My mini is pretty good in the wind
The mini 2 is able to withstand 54kph winds. I've never got the strong wind warning even on windy days at high altitudes.

I would like to use my mavic zoom and start doing this. How much can you make working for a contractor vs doing it all on your own?
You can make a billion 🦑
Good job.

Do you need to be a licensed inspector? I would assume that requirement varies from state to state if you're in the United States.

I use default settings
