Great athlete and even greater person. Franco did so much good for the community and very humble. God bless and be with your family and friends during this period of mourning and remembering. Your legacy will live on.
End of an era. I fell in love with the Black and Gold in '79. They beat the Rams in the Super Bowl. I've been a die hard Steeler fan since then. I live in South Carolina. Twenty minutes from the Carolina Panther's Stadium. When Pittsburgh is in town there are as many or more Steeler fans as Panther fans. I went up to see them play the Ravens last season when Big Ben was still there. So much history and tradition and Franco was a cornerstone in it all. From what I hear , he wS a great man as well.
Remember being a kid sitting on my moms shoulders in freezing cold to see the victory parade after 1st SB win. I got 1 of his Italian Army seat cushions he was throwing out......🖤💛
As a member and Consigliere of the Amy. I am heartbroken with the passing of Franco. I am so prord to have known the truly great man. Rest In Peace Franco! Lee Goldberg
Back in 83 the Steelers could have drafted home boy Dan Marino and did not. Perhaps if they did, maybe Marino would have a Super Bowl. This time they drafted the home boy.
@@waynejohanson1083 That was Chuck Nolls greatest error. He had Cliff Stout and he had used a first round pick on Mark Malone so he drafted DE Gabriel Rivera instead of Marino. Grave error by Noll who coached the last 11 years of his career winning only 2 playoff games and never reaching the super bowl again.
@@billnegron1057 By the way how did the people of Pittsburgh feel about that. And is it turned out Rivera was a bust and neither Malone or Stoudt were Marino. So sad they passed on him because the Steelers may have won more championships, hence we will never no now but it would have been interesting to see what would have happened.
@@waynejohanson1083 It dismayed the people of Western PA where I live to this day. You are correct we do not know what may have happened but it is bothersome that Noll passed on Marino right in Pittsburgh's backyard and Marino fell right into the Steelers lap in that draft. Grave mistake by Noll.
Pats fan here. Pats sucked in the 70's so I had to adopt a team. The Steelers were my choice. At first I thought his actual name was Frank O'Harris. LOL. Then I saw a graphic on TV with his name. I stood corrected. He was the embodiment of what the Steelers were all about. Tough, resilient, clutch. I watched the Immaculate Reception game with a Raider fan. That's when I realized he was larger than life, an almost mythical figure. R.I.P to great ball player, but an even better man....
KDKA-TV reporter Daisy Jade looks so lovely sporting a black leather Steelers jacket. More women reporters with major local TV news stations around the U.S. should do likewise and wear the jackets of the home pro teams when covering stories directly related to their local teams. And on a somber report like this, it also shows a little hometown "Pittsburgh Strong"-style resilience. Way to go Daisy Jade!
I remember Franco's Italian Army. He was not only a great player but a great guy. The Steelers was such a great team because of Franco & the Iron Curtain defense.
I wanted to be in the Army but figured with my Scottish background I was ineligible. Admired you from afar though! RIP Franco you will be greatly missed
@@billnegron1057 I’m from Pittsburgh he was always on the local channels talking about covid and boosters. I mean it is one helluva coincidence if not. We’re hearing more and more of this…
Proud to be part of the Italian army

So it’s Italians actually do talk like that. That’s amazing
