The action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in a Western-themed setting. In the game, players explore a fictionalized version of the Western, Midwestern, and Southern United States in the late 1800s, during the tumultuous period of the Wild West. The player controls Arthur Morgan of the Van der Linde gang, an outlaw gang member, as he completes numerous missions to advance the plot.

According to the game files, most of the fossils are giant ground sloth (Megatherium) fossils
If you listen to character related to the quest it is what she believes. But in end game once completed you can find a lettre from the university saying to her that all these fossils belong to different dinosaurs species
Oh my god it's the guy from the Skeleton Crew!! Absolutely wonderful to see him in other things as well. Love hearing about this part of the history of paleontology too.
Loved his appearance last time. Glad to see him back.
Fun fact: the majority of these bones aren’t even dinosaur bones. In the game files a lot of them are just various animal bones, from a walrus to a sloth. There’s only two bones in the game that are actually dinosaurs, a spinosaurus and a edmontosaurus
There is a lot of giant ground sloths, interestingly. Not dinosaurs, but prehistoric animals still.

The fact so many new species are being found within a year is fascinating, that's indeed a incredible rate
If I remember correctly recently in California during a highway construction had to be halted because they found a full mammoth. I don't know much about fossils, but I thought that it was interesting a construction crew dug up a skeleton that big
now the one just sitting out in the game ain't so odd

This was my favorite Gamology video yet! I loved the deep dive on a small aspect of one of the most beautifully detailed games of all time. I also loved that James didn't just talk about what was right and wrong scientifically, but how it fit into the culture of paleontology at the time. What a wonderful video

Now idk the time frame RDR2 is set in but there was a huge paleontology boost way back where two dudes duked it out on who could find and name fossils. It was called the Bone War or smth, and apparently it was far enough back that there were still "Wild West" shootouts that happen.
The story in this game is set in 1899 with the epilogue set in 1907 and then the first game is set in 1911 with that game’s epilogue set in 1914 if that helps

How many years did you have to go to school to do paleontology, if you don't mind me asking.
From a quick search, it seems to usually take between six and ten years to get the necessary degrees and such.

Hmm.. unrealistic I don't think so this game red dead redemption 2 is graphic realistic Hmm..
Give me at least 10 more realistic looking games.
