This is why as a mechanic I like to use 515 loctite. Its an anaerobic sealant that doesn't dry until you take the oxygen away by pressing the parts together. It works well for hydraulic, transmission and engine oil sealing applications. If you over apply, oil will not break it down as it turns into a harder type jelly and just hangs on the edge. Have never had a leak on any vehicle or agricultural vehicle I've used it on and will sit over night if you run out of time putting things back together but have already applied it to the surfaces. Just a bit of advice for people who may not know what kind of gasket maker to use because not all are good at sealing off fluids.
Great up-close shot of the trans dipstick and equally nice job fully explaining the individual fill markings, while keeping the dipstick in view! Other trans videos skip this very important part and lazily tell viewers to, "check their owners manuals" which totally defeats the purpose of watching their videos - Thanks for posting!
Just to help out anyone else that comes to watch this. Check your fluid while in neutral, not park, like the video says. Everything else was top notch. Great video
+Tony Marceleno Thank you for checking us out, and the feedback. This is definitely the proper way and will have our video forwarded for an update. 1aauto.com
I swapped the sump filter and canister filter on my 08 big horn 2 days ago. I added 6qrts and it’s marking at the cold mark. I’ve added 2 more qrts but still marking at cold. I don’t know what to do. I have not tried checking in neutral. Will try that tommarow.
You took off and cleaned stock pan, without mentioning it and replaced with a pan that has a drain plug. Good decision and would have been a good one to mention since you sell them.
do they not make a actual gasket.I use a gasket and just brush a thin coat of high tack. they make plastic dial pins to help you start the pan on then you take them out and put the bolts in. I don't know though I'm just a country boy raised in a auto body shop.
Yes they do. WIx makes a kit with the gasket, and BOTH filters. This guy only changed one filter. The other filter looks like a traditional engine oil filter, and is silver. You can clearly see it in this video.
Curious what the spin on filter is and why it wasnt changed like others have said. My local dealer tells me it would also need the adaptives reset. Why wasn't it done?
That truck has a exhaust Y pipe and you check and dodge In neutral or not in park how come the drain plug on the new transmission pan is so high wouldn't you want it in the lowest spot so you can get all the fluid out ?
Sir, why did you not change the spin-on filter inside the pan? Was that an oversight when making this video? I am about to drop my pan for the very first time and I want to make sure I do it right.
You mention in the video that there is a difference between the 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive filters. But when I go to your website you only list one filter with no reference to 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. Has something changed with the design of the filter?
I have 2004 ram 1500 4.7, based on the Haynes book, says drain and fill takes 5.5 qt. I just pour 4 qt. Without engine started yet. Is it normal to show as full in the hot mark? Just making sure before I start the engine and actual check the level. Or I have to drain it again and re start.
I have a question for anyone who might be able to help. I am about to replace the solenoid pack on my 05 Ram 1500 2WD. On my pan I have a 3x3" square where the sump pick-up seems to be but I have no idea if its a deep or shallow pan?? This video is 2WD and it does not have that little drop down. Anyone know? Thanks!
For my dodge ram 1500 08. Owners manual says to change it at 200k and I’m currently at 193k. Could I change my fluid without damaging the transmission?
There is a gasket with smaller holes to put bolts up into that holds all the bolts in place While starting to thread them. Makes it real easy. No RTV needed.
My 2007 has an exhaust pipe under the pan so i can remove the pan without removing the pipe ..do i need anything to seal the pipe up when i put it back
The fluid in the torque converter was still the old fluid. If you do it this way vs doing a flush your old crap fluid will still be in the torque converter.
Never do a flush just mix it with the oil that’s inside the tranny already, don’t worry nothing will happen plus it prevents your transmission from kicking 🦵 and slipping
HELLO. I HAVE 03 DODGE RAM 1500 W/ HEMI AND I PUT NEW FILTERS AND FLUID AND NEW PAN ON IT TODAY AND NOW IT WONT SHIFT IN ANY GEAR. WHAT U THINK HAPPENED??
+Daniel Driscol We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
No I actually just unscrew and wash it with dish soap and screw it in back saves money and it works try it it’s good with any car or truck bike boat plane and flying sausage I mean saucer
Thanks for checking us out! I do apologize we are not sure what you are asking. Can you please clarify so we can better assist you? Thank you! +Alex M.
+OVI-Wan Kenobi Thanks for watching! Some will and some won't, it depends on what you purchase. You can use the supplied gasket or make one like we do in the video, it is personal preference. 1aauto.com
Hey there. Please help , I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 4x4 automatic, I have changed all fluids except the transmission now , I am watching your video and it has me a little worried , I bought amsoil fluids for the truck and I want to drain the 6.5 quarts from the pan and change filter , but I have 180,000 miles on the truck . The fluid doesn’t look to bad at all maybe not perfect red like transmision fluid color , but it’s not pitch black or dark brown , or do I feel any grit to it , should I change it or just leave it alone , amd will it be ok for another 200,000 miles or so without serviceing it ??? Thank you

Is it a good idea to use the gasket sealer? Or is it better to buy a rubber gasket
@@sonicbm Better to get the cork gasket

Why wasn't the other filter downthere changed as well?
12:34 it has a K&N cold air intake. then at 13:27 it has a stock airbox lmao
That portion of the exhaust is stock. You can tell because the y pipe is smashed from the factory and the cats are stock as well.
You took off and cleaned stock pan, without mentioning it and replaced with a pan that has a drain plug. Good decision and would have been a good one to mention since you sell them.
He did
3:53 Don't you need to replace the cylindrical filter as well?
That’s what I was saying to
Is it ok to use full synthetic fluid when the original fluid is just regular petrol product? Can the two kind be mixed?
do they not make a actual gasket.I use a gasket and just brush a thin coat of high tack. they make plastic dial pins to help you start the pan on then you take them out and put the bolts in. I don't know though I'm just a country boy raised in a auto body shop.

Good job son.great video.
Curious what the spin on filter is and why it wasnt changed like others have said. My local dealer tells me it would also need the adaptives reset. Why wasn't it done?
Always lay gasket material at a 45 deg angle towards the outside of the pan or surface..so it crushes mostly outward when torqued
Any idea why they didn't change the spin on tyranny filter while they had the pan off ?
Have never figured why they put one inside of the pan.
I was wondering that myself. Seems kind of silly to not change it while you are there.
excellent level of detail. Appreciate the video.
NICE, LOOKS LIKE YOU COULD USE A WEDGE BETWEEN THE PAN AND EXHAUST CROSS OVER PIPE TO HOLD THE PAN SO IT WONT MOVE WHILE YOU START TO PUT THE
BOLTS IN
That truck has a exhaust Y pipe and you check and dodge In neutral or not in park how come the drain plug on the new transmission pan is so high wouldn't you want it in the lowest spot so you can get all the fluid out ?
What about the spin-on filter? Should we not change that as well? How many miles is this good for?
Sir, why did you not change the spin-on filter inside the pan? Was that an oversight when making this video? I am about to drop my pan for the very first time and I want to make sure I do it right.
Never understood why manuf dont design in a drain plug...makes more sense.
Good video. Is there more transmission fluid elsewhere to worry about when changing fluid?

Isn't the fluid capacity somewhat like 14qts???
That's if you flush the whole system. Usually a drain and full does around half give or take
15 quarts completely emptied out

Can you tell me what that other filter is inside the tranny pan. Lokks like a small oi, filter and do i need to change it as well.
Great job. Thank you
What about changing the other filter in the trans that looks like a small oil filter
What was the round looking thing that looked like a spin on filter?????
I have a question for anyone who might be able to help. I am about to replace the solenoid pack on my 05 Ram 1500 2WD. +Strong Addictions Thanks for the tip!
I dont trust the rubber gasket alone, I put rtv on like it came from the builder.
I'd never flush personally have had pad experience I'd just drop pan new filter n new fluid
you happen to know the torque wrench specs for that filter?
40 inch pounds
thats the oil cooler return filter. regular filter is the silver one that looks like a 'regular' oil filter
Anyone know where the transmission band adjustment on the545rfe is . 2007 dodge ram
What about the rest of the old fluid still inside the transmission
Never do a flush just mix it with the oil that’s inside the tranny already, don’t worry nothing will happen plus it prevents your transmission from kicking 🦵 and slipping
If it was 6.5 quarts why did you put only 4?🤔🤔🤔

Add some kind of thicker to the fluid
Check the filter it happened to me last week and it was the oil filter make sure to push that bad boy in
I'm dealing with same issue with 07. Were you able to fix it? If so what did you do
how many liters of transmission oil does the ram take
Why did you not change the other filter that looks like an oil filter?
If the sump filter has to be replaced each flid change then why change to a pan with a plug?
so you don't have to drop the pan before draining and have it slosh all over. Just a cleaner job is all.
great videos
+Henry Kieninger Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Same process for the 2500?
How often is it done on these type of trucks?
+silentxx1street Thank you for checking us out. The usual interval is 100,000 miles, unless there is a leak. 1aauto.com
Uh no its every 30k
Dont u gotta adjust the bands every fluid change? My manual says to
That’s gotta be the worst application of gasket sealer I have ever seen 🤣😂🤣
1A auto told me to relay this job offer to you. You can apply online
My truck is sealed no dipstick. Can i still replace fluids and how to do it!?
Ty
A1 auto actually sells a bit that you can drill a hole to your transmission and a screw on bolt to drain and plug it’s cool try it
What is that filter inside the tranny that looks like an oil filter and do I need to change that as well.
No I actually just unscrew and wash it with dish soap and screw it in back saves money and it works try it it’s good with any car or truck bike boat plane and flying sausage I mean saucer
Anyone notice this fluid change took away a cai and into a stock intake tube. Was the last minute done before the change??
Thanks for checking us out! I do apologize we are not sure what you are asking. Can you please clarify so we can better assist you? Thank you! +Alex M.
Now that you pointed that out, yes I see it too lol
Doesn't the new transmission filter come with a gasket? Mine does.

My dodge be like : Too much fluid? Starts leaking. 2 days after, stops leaking, but still full. the fuck
3:53
10:05
Can I judge the condition of the fluid based on the fluid on the dipstick?
Better if you smell the tip of the stick, if it smells like burnt peanuts it’s bad if it smells like Harry sweaty arm pits it’s good
Or, if you can't get Harry to stop by or if he is too shy to let you smell his armpit, any male sweaty armpit will do :)

Ya why did you not replace the round filter as well?????
Ya let me just raise my vehicle with my random car lift I have just chillin outside.
I see the 4 wheel drive pan and another pan for 42RLE vehicles. Would the 2 wheel drive version have the 42RLE Trans in it?
hello ,,, how are you ... please ,i want know how many liters transmission fluid and oil motor and water radiator for my car ,,, dodge durango 5.7l hemi model 2006 ...thank you .
Dood call autozone or the dealer just give them the vin# get the fluids acutely and right son
Did I miss the changing of the spin on filter?????????????
Hi there do u have one for 4th gen with 8 speed trasmission ? I know there's a different procedure for it..
My trans is check in neutral ... 2008 ram hemi
12:40 how to add
I'd be ashamed to show that. That gasket sealant was a sloppy mess.
👌👍
please smile bro
That's factory exhaust system
+danielvvls13 Thanks for the feedback!
I changed my transmission filters on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 2wd how many quarts of fluid should I add
I think the manual says 20 quarts pour into a spills out the deep stick
Is this similar to changing a 95 dodge ram 1500?
+welditup This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Yep that will be a leaker !
Wood tanks
You did`nt change the spin on filter !.
No way.
DO NOT USE GASKET MAKER for the seal....use the seal.... not good!
