    For anyone searching, the tool for that square bolt is a 5/16" Square Female Pipe Plug Socket.

    Hopefully someone can shine some light on my issue. I have a 95 Ram 1500 with the 46RH and the front band screw is a square bolt, is this procedure the same as the RE variants?

    Good vid. I’ve never used sealant with a gasket. I guess it won’t hurt anything

    • @deuceliter
      @deuceliter  3 месяца назад +1

      I decided to use sealant since I wasn't replacing the rusty pan. If your pan is in good shape, then you don't really need sealant if you have a good quality replacement gasket. I didn't have any leaks at all, but I've since changed the rusty pan to a new pan with a drain plug. I didn't use sealant on the new pan and gasket and have no issues so far.

      @@deuceliter I appreciate the editing on the video. So many guy just show every single second of the whole thing.
      Cutting out and speeding up the video was a great move.
      I’d love to have a drain plug. What brand pan did you go with?

    so by removing that pan did that drain all the old oil that is in the transmission or does something else need to be done to finish getting it all out

    • @deuceliter
      @deuceliter  19 дней назад

      It doesn't remove all the oil as some is still inside the torque converter. I'd say it removes around half the fluid by removing the pan.

    Hello sir! I really appreciate your video. My dodge Ram 1998 46re 4x4 194k with miles. It is currently slipping on second gear. It appears to be the ring band that needs to be adjusted from what I’ve seen online . I am planning on adjusting the front band. Does the rear band adjustment inside oil pan need to be adjusted as well or can I just do the front? I really appreciate your feedback.

    • @deuceliter
      @deuceliter  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can adjust the front band independently without adjusting the rear.

    • @Aciecarter238
      @Aciecarter238 8 месяцев назад +2

      To adjust both bands. You need to drop the pan. Can only access overdrive band from inside once pan is dropped.

    Great and super informative video, I was just getting ready to do this on my truck today. My Transmission is actually shifting great with no slips however the issue I’m having is when pulling my trailer with the overdrive off lately it’s been having issues with lack of power only when going up hills. Also my transmission temp light comes on occasionally. I’ve checked the fluid it doesn’t smell burnt but has a grayish color so that’s the reason I’ve decided to change the fluid and filter. Do you have any idea what my problem could be torque converter possibly? As I mentioned before gears are shifting fine there’s no shuddering just temp light then lack of power going up hills this is only when I’m pulling my trailer. Running my truck without it I don’t have any issues

    • @deuceliter
      @deuceliter  9 месяцев назад

      Changing the fluid may help since you're saying the fluid is grey. Could also be the weight of the trailer, among a few other things. Since you're towing a lot, it may also be a good idea to run a trans cooler if you don't already have one.

    I have a 2nd gen and when it goes to 4th gear my car starts shaking awfully and recently it just completely stopped out of nowhere i don’t know what happened lol. But what i can do for it to not happen again?

    • @Aciecarter238
      @Aciecarter238 8 месяцев назад

      You need to adjust the overdrive band. Drop the pan an adjust both bands. One on side of trans is for 2nd gear. The band inside trans is for overdrive. Sounds like your overdrive band is really loose.

    Will this fix no reverse? I have everything and all gears just no reverse?

    • @deuceliter
      @deuceliter  4 месяца назад

      If you don't have reverse, then a fluid change most likely won't help reverse come back. If you change the fluid, you'll most likely find a snap ring in the bottom of the pan. Or it could be an issue with the rear band or several other things but hard to know without a full diagnosis.

    How many quarts did you put?

    • @deuceliter
      @deuceliter  5 месяцев назад

      It was around 4.8 qts if I remember correctly. Maybe different for each person, though, so keep an eye on it for a couple of days and make sure fluid level is good and top it off if necessary.
