I have been wanting to get the "Hohner Moaner" harp sound for 40 years off and on. When I was young I wrote to Hohner to see if Paul was playing the "Trumpet Call" harp. Thanks for the insight young man, you are a great player yourself!

I have played harmonica professionally since I was 13. I am seventy years old, still playing for a living. Will seems to be able to unlock mysteries that have worried me for decades. I practice with Will's vids every day. Waiting for a chromatic lesson!

Great lesson Will ... I found a video with seven Butterfield licks in the key of A ... It's done by Paul Lassey ... He demonstrates the lick while he puts the tabs up .... Their licks for practicing ... Thanks for this over all lesson on Paul's style it simplifies everything ... Paul used to go down with a quart of Budweiser and sit on the shores of Lake Michigan and practice for hours ... Now we know what he was practicing , he was perfecting that blues scale ... Thanks great lesson ... Your dynamite on the tin sandwich !!!!

These kinds of lessons are awesome! if you are starting to play you can find tons of beginners information everywhere but not so much this kind of lessons, precise, fast and with a clear structure and tabs, also considering Will Wilde style, are the best specially for advance beginners and intermedium people who wants to keep improving and not just to learn some song and licks, learn a style and get ideas to build your own. Appreciate it bro, Thanks!

Many of PB's trademark sounds, as from 6:30, combine the triplet transitions with his huge deep vibrato few can match - some attribute to his flute background. We too often associate power with amplification, and James Cotton pushed that hard, but many of Butterfield's extended tracks, both live and on the transformative album "Resurrection of Pigboy Crabshaw," are basically miked acoustic, yet the tonal qualities shine through even richer than with his familiar power setups.

It is amazing to me that so few holes can make the myriad of notes that this instrument can make.. Mr. Butterfield is amazing, as are you.. Love this kind of lesson, and thank you so much.. I've been playing blues harp for 50 years (with a 35 year time out for a career and to raise a family), and never saw playing broken down like this this. Excellent content 👏
If anyone is frustrated being able to play Butters riffs, but it sounds a bit “off”, keep in mind that he played a harp tuned to 7-limit, and not Equal temperament or modern compromised… it has a different feel with some of the reeds tuned to much differently (5D -29cents). If you’re diehard, find a good harp tech to set one up for you.
