I am primarily a still photographer with 30+ years of experience and now since a decade shooting professionally. You have a knack of teaching; simple and detailed explanation is your hallmark, fed in bite size pieces with a smile on your face is not just contagious but inspiring. Thanks for all your effort and help you provide to all of us here. May God be with you and your family.
You can do it for parts. Use the scissors icon to split the video in two. And apply the adjustment to one. You could also use Adjustment Layers and use a keyframes to animate the opacity. So, animate it to 0% at a certain point
Thank you, Faith! No real technical advantages. It is all about accessibility and knowledge of the tools. In other words, if you don't have the apps or don't know how to use them, you can use Photoshop and use the tools you know.
I'm up with that - I have Premiere as part of an education subscription but am finding it a steep learning curve with SO many options. For now, a simpler process would be very welcome (I'm just doing b-roll for interviews).
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Incorrect. I would disagree with that. You can do so much of colour correction on Premiere Pro. ACR is so much more advanced along with Photoshop in editing. This is a trick which actually can color correct videos better than Premiere / After Effects and should be used if one has a powerful machine as exporting takes a long time even on short clips less than a min.
Thanks for this contribution 🙏. What I didn’t get is, why the conversion to a smart objects, instead of using adjustment layers. Is that on your PC really that fast or did you cut out conversion in post?
Hi Jesus, this is a wonderful tip that I had no idea about. I use iMovie and the color adjustment controls are primitive at best. This is just what I've been looking for! Thank you!
Great tutorial. You can do some amazing things with video in Photoshop. Is it possible to reverse a video clip so that it plays backwards i.e a person walking towards a door is now walking backwards away from the door ? Thanks for your help. Darren.
Thanks for the video. I really like the idea of using camera raw on my videos. However, in my case, however, converting the video to a smart object results in an unusable video. The playback goes way down to less than .5 frames per second. And rendering takes hours.
Very very nice video! I wish colour was as easy as this in premier or after effects Can I ask what camera did you use. I know the standard 8bit but is it still ok to make adjustments on a normal camera. I realise you won't get as good as with a 10bit or 12bit. But will a normal dslr be ok
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel thanks for the reply! Learned so much from your videos I think I watched them all but it's so good and u have a great teaching voice. Thanks again from Ireland
Thanks for your tutorial. Always learn a lot. I was familiar with these techniques but would like to know how to apply them to selected parts of a video, since lighting can change drastically when panning.
Dale, You can click on the Scissors icon to split the video into two layers and apply different Camera Adjustments to each. The downside is that the transition can be noticeable depending on the effects. If that happens then overlap about a send or two of each video and animate the Opacity to transition between video layers. Obviously, something like this is much easier to do in premiere if you are familiar with it.
This was excellent, your earlier tutorial crashed for me with explanation of key frames which leaves me looking elsewhere - try starting with what they are & then how we would typically use them please?
My videos are simple indoor, camera facing down on my desk as I do art for my RUclips channel. Sometimes lighting is an issue, usually too much light! I have been using Corel Video Studio for years. Will I get a better video using Photoshop? I'm an avid user but never tried editing video. Thanks so much! ~ Deb
Great info! I do use PS CC for editing my videos, and even creating animations from frames I've created in other CG apps such as Poser or DAZ Studio. It works just fine for my needs, at least right now.
Wow, very interesting! Yes, this is a keeper. I'm entering video after 52 years as a stills guy. I will probably mostly follow your guide, Jesus, but with an outlying excursion to see what I can do using Filters > Athentech > Perfectly Clear. P. Clear is derived from X-ray visualization technology that develops each pixel separately, giving doctors (and photographers) a more 3-D perspective, instead of the flat look where pixels are averaged over the frame. It has worked incredibly well for me, and I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do with video. I asked Athentech if they plan a video version, but they said not at this time. They did suggest trying to edit a video in PS using Filters as you teach here. Cheers.
So can you actually do a selection and do changes on a specific thing on the video? Like let's say you want to select the leaves of a specific tree and turn them red. Instead of applying an effect on the whole video? Because that would be awesome!
Hey Jesus, my version of Photoshop CS5, requires QuickTime software to open movie files. As QuickTime is no longer supported and has major security flaws it's probably not a good idea. Does your version of Photoshop also require QuickTime, and if not; at which version is it safe to use Photoshop for editing movies (without QuickTime) Thank you
video file is not opening in photoshop "Could not complete your request because dynamicLink media server is not avialable" what isa the solution for this
Great video and great channel - THANKS! It is a shame that Photoshop 2019 - as wonderful as it's image features are - has been CRIPPLED for anything video, but at least all continues to work quite well on 2018, thank goodness. I hope someone at Adobe fixes the intolerably slow (pretty much unusable) timeline functions SOON.
Jesus enjoyed this video thank you. Jesus have you or can you do a video on exporting to .jpg, .png etc. in Photoshop. When to use save as or save for the web. Why do your files look completely different when you save as a .jpg using the save as option then when you use save for web. Different in that you lose the textures you applied or you just get a completely different looking file. Also, how do you control the file size it seems to vary so much with mixed results whether you use save as or save for web. I found for example if you start with a .jpg and you try to save for web to reduce its size you get varied results sometimes a larger file in size than the original .jpg file??

Is it not possible to keyframe adjustment layers to increase or decrease the intensity of an effect over time in the clip?
Thank you I was looking for this, really appreciate it
Absolutely superb again......thank you so much Jesus.......

Looking forward to more videos editing in Photoshop.
Hi Jesus. thanks for the great video, can we use photoshop to add simple titles to videos?
You're welcome, Semage! Yeah, you can. But I'm not sure if Photoshop is the ideal tool for that.
So nice which screen recorder do u use sir

Useful tips, love your channel!
Thank you, Marinela!

Hi! Thank you so much for what you do. What are the advantages of using photoshop on videos over actual editing suites premier pro on cc

Great stuff my friend. I am a sponge - soaking up all the goodness from your videos. Thank you 🙏🏼

I do have a PC that is very fast. But usually anything over a few seconds I cut out to not make people wait.

You're welcome, Draw Paint Repeat! I'm glad you found it useful!
welcome back buddy :) 💚💛❤
Thank you, ABDU official!
Can you save your adjustments as a LUT and use it for premiere?
You can save your Adjustment Layers adjustments a LUTs to use in other apps.
Thank you so much 🥰🥰
Splendid ... wish the develop module in lightroom would allow editng video
Thank you a ton, broo.. Now I know how to color grade from Photoshop., it is more efficient...

What camera to record the video in Kuala Lumpur? If so, that was just my cell phone. Google Pixel XL.
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel thanks for the reply!

Colin, that video is about five years old. Maybe I'll make a new one. Thanks!
I am new subscribe thanks you sir helpful videos
You're welcome, SUPEREMINENT GOD!
thank you so much
Thanks for the tips... i really love your tutorials.... can u please tell me why my video gets very slow after i render- export? (10 seconds project)
Somaiya, it all depends on your computer's processing power. If you don't have a fast computer the rendering will be slow.
Thank you so much for the quick response.😘 💖

I have photoshop CS6 and i saw the settings button in the timeline thing but i don't have it
PS work good for creating time-lapse videos from photos too. It will do the conversion to video and like here, can do alot of adjustments.
Im from Malaysia, are you still in KL?
No. That was earlier this year!
Damn BAD, I didn't know that you came to Malaysia and did training in Kuala Lumpur where I stayed. I wish I could join next time!
I was there for four days! I would love to go back!

Thanks for this Jesus. Can we also do simple blends of one clip to another in PS?
Do you mean like transitions? If so, then yes, but it is limited and not easy to do like in a video editing app.
Photoshop Training Channel - Ok. Then, how do we do that?
So can you actually do a selection and do changes on a specific thing on the video? Like let's say you want to select the leaves of a specific tree and turn them red. Instead of applying an effect on the whole video? Because that would be awesome!
Yeah, that would work assuming the camera and leaves did not move. You can have static masks.

Hi,
I will like to talk to you because I will like to use photoshop to do a video of a wedding I will do.
